Alert Patriots Daily reader catches Gregg Easterbrook losing his mind

Easterbrook's past anti-Semitic behavior absolutely justifies any questions people may raise over his hateful obsession with the Jewish owned New England Patriots.
Bigots like Easterbrook don't change their stripes.

You're right. Ugh, that sickens me whether it's true or not.

In many ways this past year it's been nice. I basically have to seek Pats info, none is ever put out in front of me. So during this whole spygate travesty and in the aftermath of the Super Bowl, it was fairly easy to block out whatever I wanted to, as opposed to back home where I'd be inundated with it on TV, radio and the newspaper.

The 1 PM EST games are tough because they start at 1 or 2 AM here. But other than that, the later games are easy, and you're right, it is cool to roll out of bed just in time for kickoff.

A problem I have is that I sometimes miss the camaraderie of having fellow Pats fans around me, but this board has been GREAT to cure that problem.

The biggest thing I don't like about being here is that I don't get to many games anymore. Actually, last year I went to 4, but the commute to them was much longer than from Providence to Gillette.

(Today in a very "Chinese" part of Suzhou I saw a local woman with a "Yankees Suck" hat on. That made my day.)

Ha ha..................

The fact that ESPN continues to employ this fool is beyond me. He is a garbage writer who clearly overlooks the facts of this case.

The first comment I clicked on is certainly worth noting.....

""Taping from the sidelines during games, although forbidden, is regarded as a minor violation of the rules. Secret taping of a Super Bowl opponent's practice, if true, would be much more serious."
This is what Easterbrook wrote on Februray 3rd when he thought his buddy Walsh had delivered the goods with the Rams walk through.

Turns out Walsh had lied again and Greg is now forced to move the goalposts to fit his agenda. Guess what Greg, there is no walkthrough tape so all that Belichick is guilty of (in your own words) is a 'minor violation of the rules.' Surely there should be no additional punishement for such a 'minor violation.' Thanks for pointing that out and supporting Coach Belichick! "

So the antisemetic, peverted, whack-job writer is at it again. I see that after minimizing the videotaping of signals in February as minor violations to build up the impact of the Rams walkthrough tape he was convinced Walsh had, he has decided to now make it an offense worthy of a lifelong ban. Hypocrit, thy name is Gregg Easterbrook.

I never got Easterbrook. His TMQ column had a cult following, but I found it rambling and a little perverted. I have no problem looking at a cheerleaders in their outfits mind you, but when a "professional" writer for ESPN is obsessing over them every week in his column I find it a little creepy. His anti-semetic rant was just appalling.

Easterbrook appeals to the lunatic fringe. That group will eat up his column hook, line, and sinker. Thatis why he is on ESPN Page 2 and not the ESPN's main site.

For what it's worth, ESPN is no longer burying this article. There's a link to it on the home page.

Yet another hypocrite exposed. He expects his anti-semitic rants to be excused, but calls for Belichick to be banned from football. Comcast must be so proud of their mouthpiece.

I'm waiting for Bill Simmons take on this. He's been awfully quiet the last few weeks choosing to cover the NBA.

You're right. Ugh, that sickens me whether it's true or not.

Until now, it never even ocurred to me that the Patriots are "Jewish owned"

If someone has an issue with that they need SERIOUS help.

Can we make sure the commonality of this theme of Easterbrooks is known to ESPN ombudsman and management? I think we should at least give it a shot in case they haven't put 2+2 together.

Easterbrooks...another man I'd love to see unemployed!

well...seeing as how Krafty Bob is the owner, I think he should replace all those MickeyD outlets with a good Jewish deli...nothing better than a Reuben and a beer to watch a game by.

Seriosly good idea!

He said in the past that he wouldn't touch this subject...I'm not sure if that's changed, but just remember that he's not nearly as well informed about the NFL as he is about the NBA. I'm not sure we, as Pats fans, would even want his opinion.

Related to that, however, I just sent an e-mail to Ms. Schreiber, the ombudsman for ESPN. She's been very, very good in the past, and she tends to really research a subject before commenting. If she were to read the transcript of Belichick's interview with CBS, read transcripts of both Goodell's and Specter's press conferences, read Jimmy Johnson's and Mike Martz' quotes, and read the actual rule in question, I think she could do one hell of a job calling out Easterbrook, the Herald, Fish, et al.

Hadn't seen crap from him in a while, I was hoping ESPN canned him. Then again its ESPN, so that would never happen.

what's her e-mail addy?

ESPN.com is about to get sued over that prick. They screwed up letting him back in the building after firing him the first time. I guess now that he knows Jews are off limits, he's focused his venom on another scapegoat.
He got fired for anti-Semitism? Wow. Could it be a coincidence that the team he is going after is owned by a Jew?

what's her e-mail addy?

Just use this link; I don't think she has a public e-mail address, this is more of a comment section but it serves the same purpose.

It might not be a bad idea, now that the spotlight is dimming on this madness, to see if some level-headed input can come from respected sources like Ms. Schreiber

Actually about 50% of the NFL teams have Jewish owners. So, I can't really agree with you there.
I thought it was actually around 3. Kraft, Al Davis, Arthur Blank. Maybe one or two others. Can you provide any more names?

I have sent comments to Le Anne Schreiber about Easterbrook and his hypocrisy and his 180 degree stance on videotaping signals.

Here is what Schreiber wrote about Easterbrook's involvement in the Walsh story from ESPN in February"

Spygate II

On the Friday before Super Bowl XLII, many people were astounded, as I was, when the dormant Spygate scandal was revived on ESPN.com with a story about Matt Walsh, a former Patriots' video assistant who "hinted" that he might or might not have evidence that he might or might not divulge about whether or not the Patriots engaged in more spying than was previously known. Why would ESPN.com run a story so potentially damaging to the Patriots on the basis of murky allegations from a source who, as one reader/journalist put it, "should give anyone in our business a good case of the squirms"?

The timing also made several readers suspicious, especially those who noted that the story, written by investigative reporter Mike Fish, listed columnist Gregg Easterbrook, notorious critic of Patriots' coach Bill Belichick, as a contributor. Was ESPN seeding the clouds to rain on the Patriots' widely forecasted Super Bowl parade?

I called ESPN.com's editor-in-chief Rob King with these questions, and he explained, "ESPN did not choose the timing of that story. The New York Times and Pennsylvania Senator Arlen Specter did."

That same Friday, the New York Times broke the news that Sen. Specter, a longtime Philadelphia Eagles fan, wanted the Senate Judiciary Committee to investigate NFL commissioner Roger Goodell's handling of spying charges against the Patriots. The Times story included quotes from Walsh, similar to those he had given to ESPN.com's Fish, who had been talking to Walsh for several weeks.

"We were not ready to run a story using Matt Walsh's comments," King said, "but once the New York Times identified him as a potential witness in Congressional hearings, we thought we should contribute what we knew about him."

That was a judgment call, and I think a reasonable one. The risk, given ESPN's power to direct the national sports conversation, is that it may have helped give a huge amplified megaphone to an unreliable source.

And what was Easterbrook's role?

"He got an anonymous tip about Walsh back in September, which he passed on to us after he began talking to him," King said. "We assigned Mike Fish to report out the story, and eventually that led to Mike's going to Hawaii, where Walsh lives, to do an interview."

Easterbrook may have taken some satisfaction in rain falling on the Patriots' parade, but he was not the rainmaker on Super Bowl weekend. Blame for that goes to Specter and the New York Giants.

We will learn much more about Walsh's credibility in the coming weeks. In the meantime, I share this reader's view: "I hope, for ESPN's sake, that there is some meat behind the sizzle on this story. Otherwise, I would be very disappointed at the sensationalistic nature of this sequence of events."

http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/columns/story?columnist=schreiber_leanne&id=3240223

I hope she follows through with her promise. The other shoe has dropped in Easterbrook's involvement in the whole Walsh mess. He clearly was looking to use Walsh to push for a lifetime ban of Belichick. Granted he is going to probably choke on his own words from February on this one.

The question is "Can Schreiber make enough noise to get Easterbrook disciplined?" As an ombudsman, her only power is to be the voice of the readers. Is her voice powerful enough to promote change within ESPN?

Re: Spygate will live forever...

Why even bother reading this guy.

Funny thing is I stoped reading him before spygate and this whole spygate thing has just confirmed he is an ass.
