An explanation is coming
Posted by John Tomase at 5:24 pm

Readers of this space have probably been asking themselves, “Where the hell is Tomase?” over the last couple of days and it’s a fair query. Right now I’m just landing from Washington and working on a story about Arlen Specter’s press conference regarding his interview with Matt Walsh.

While that is going to have me tied up for the rest of the night, I just wanted to make one thing clear — I know I screwed up on the Rams taping story and I don’t intend to hide behind today’s apology or an editor’s note. In Friday’s Herald I will explain as clearly as I can where that story went wrong and begin the journey of restoring your trust in my reporting.

I cannot in good conscience demand accountability of the people I cover and then not provide it myself. So it’s coming on Friday. Just be patient.

John

Seems to me if it was really important to him he'd have had it done by now. Friday? How long have we been pretty sure there was no walkthrough tape?

It better be one hell of a good apology, if it's taking him all that time. If I was his editor, I think I'd have him writing it, and put someone else on the Specter thing.

Honestly, I just don't care what he has to say. The damage is done.

Shouldn't this be the first article he writes? Why would I read his article about specter before he "restores my trust in his reporting"?

I say that we hear what he has to say before we continue with the lynching. People screw up - it's what we do. The guy was trying to get a story and a possible career boost, but it backfired. Ten bucks says he'd take it back in a heartbeat, and I'm sure he realizes it's going to be a LONG time before anyone trusts his writing again. I'm curious to see what the guy has to say, anyway.

Great plan, it will be reprinted on Saturday, the day of the lowest newspaper readership of the week. Nobody outside of NE will ever read that story.

Ih he apologizes and resigns, that would be acceptable.

Hi John.

I agree, UNLESS he makes Spector look like the fool he seems to be, then I'll take that story first, then he can grovel

No, it should be the last.

Honestly, it should. I don't harbor the same vitriol as many fans simply because I don't pay much attention to the media.

It shouldn't simply be an apology. It should be a public resignation.

You fail to remember that no member of patsfans.com has ever made a mistake, nor has their team.

Quit hounding him still. If he is going to give an apology, lay off him. I don't really care when it comes as long as it does come.

Hey!

People have been calling for BB to be fired for months.

We are going chant for the firing of Tomase for at least a few days.

(and don't try and use common sense or rational thought to make me stop)

What a pathetic joke he is. An unethical fat slob now apologizing. The only thing from him that I would trust is a testimonial to jelly donuts,
Just take your apology stick it up your fat ***** and get out of town.

BS His 1 hour headline yesterday abot Walsh and the Patriots spying on the Rams blows any credibility. He is toast.

I personally don't care if he takes BB's full man-ness all the way down his throat. He will never regain my full trust. He destroyed my Pre-SB celebration.

Yesterday afternoon his story online was that the Patriots spied on the Rams walk through because Walsh was there. That 1 hour story yesterday showed his true colors.
