Looks bigger then listed size but maybe because it's college competition. Ellis Hobbs looked small predraft in comparison.

Re: Terrence Wheatley highlight video link

Yup. Looks like he anticipates well and has some ball skills as well.

So, looks like our corners right now are Bryant, Meriweather, Hobbs, Webster, and Wheatley.

Not great, but depending on how far Meriweather comes this summer, I'd say they're good enough.

So far... Probably adding another Michigan alum at some point b4 training camp starts.

So you take it Lewis Sanders doesn't make the team?

Does this guy have any relation to the former RB of the Raiders Tyrone Wheatley?

Tyrone stated his career off slow with the Giants but played awesome for 3 year with the Raiders

It's because he runs a little upright, which might make him seem a little bigger.

Related to Wheatley, I can't imagine playing CB with a fused wrist.

Re: Terrence Wheatley highlight video link

I love this pick. There are only a handful of prospects in this draft who can become quality starting Cbs in the NFL, and Wheatley is one of them. This is a player pats fans will grow to appreciate for his smarts, athleticism, and selflessness. A perfect Patriot pick.

I don't know anything about him but I like his hair.

His father, Randolph, ran track at Arizona State. That's about it

Kiper may have had him in the 4th, but Gil Brandt over at NFL.com had him listed in the 61-70 range, right where he went. Thought Conner might have been the call, or the Trade up for Groves....think they need to add another pass rusher from the outside.

I wouldn't say he has "no chance" on the outside, that's all.

I suppose he has a chance. I mean even I would have a chance. I am just going to have nightmares before our game in SD if we have Wheatley matching up against Vincent Jackson, Chris Chambers, or Gates.

1. Open packet.

2. Mix contents in water.

3. Stir.

4. Drink Kool Aid.

Re: Patriots Select TERRANCE WHEATLEY with 62nd pick

What makes you think that Godfrey would be a starter in this defense? The fact he's got horrible footwork? Has some major technique issues when it comes to his back-pedal and hand usage? Or maybe its his inability to change direction fluidly?

As for you laughing, you might want to follow this team a bit better. This is the sort of player the Pats are known for drafting.

I've been following the team since 1975, so I think I have every right to question taking the 19th rated CB in the second round over someone people have rated as the 4th best CB. By the way, people here can talk about Wheatley's speed, but guess who's bigger, faster, and most likely better ? Godfrey. Sugar coat it all you want folks, but you can't tell me that we couldn't have gotten Wheatley with our 3rd third round pick. This has Bethel (f&cking) Johnson written all over it. That was my nickname for Bethel, and now my nickname for our new munckin CB. Btw, we have THREE third round picks, why didn't we trade up ?

Where is he ranked 19th at CB? Mayock had him as the 64th best player in the draft, I believe, and Gil Brandt had him going in this range as well.

Canty was a Round 1 pick, and not a burner like this kid.

19th best CB according to the non-NFL guys. One of 2 things is going on here:

1. Incredible reach, or
2. Media wrong.

He might be the guy they wanted. But damn.

Sure, in BB I trust. Media wrong, therefore, is the answer (or they expected a dozen or more CBs to be picked before they picked again) LOL

I guarantee he would have lasted into the third round or fourth. A "lets just pick one quick and get it over with before time runs out" pick. A head scratcher for sure unless there were 31 other teams that rated him as a second rounder. Maybe Pioli has got a secret method of stretching him to 6' 1" or so. Is it me or do I see us get beat by more 6' 4" WR's. Maybe his media size was wrong. Maybe he is at least 6' tall. In BB we trust but this was a bad move and not worth a 2 for sure.
Nope I am convinced. Lets just trade out #2 choices from now on. We are poor with those.Think Bethel and Hill (RIP).
Everyone of you out there are thinking the same thing. Bad choice!
Please don't tell me we picked a number two choice to be a nickel back (see Booby Grier and Chris Canty) and to return kicks.

From the bios on this kid, he appears to be a real student of the game. He also has blazing speed and returns kicks.

Sounds like he is the "versatile" player the pats covet.

Godfrey might be an azztool - this kid is probably a mature team player, with high intelligence. which BB covets.

A "lets just pick one quick and get it over with before time runs out" pick.

Ah, yes. The hallmark of BB/Pioli's tenure. A lack of preparation and the desire to do hard work. Brilliant!

Listen to the way he speaks in this interview.

Certainly doesn't speak like your standard "athletic cornerback". Eloquent, good knowledge of the game, schematic awareness, certainly sounds like the quintessential patriot. He sure is a departure from "get rich to dis". Refreshing. I like this kid already.
