Looks like we'll be playing in Lucas Oil Stadium this year. When was the last time Indy actually came here for a game?
Well, it's only fair that after a long streak of us always coming to yours, then you guys would have to come to ours.. It was 2 or 3 years ago I believe.. But then it was probably like 4 or 5 years in a row at your place before that..

Sorry about you guys not getting a big time game in Week 1.. It really doesn't matter if you do or not anyway, you'll still play the same and it will still be on TV.. I think they just wanted to get a nice rematch game in a brand new stadium when they scheduled Colts/Bears.

I would like to see the Pats and Jets in Giants stadium for game one. Just because the Pats are my measuring stick.

That would surprise me, since that's how they opened last year.

I know these games aren't great, but it makes sense. The NFL knows they will get big ratings on Kickoff Weekend, so why burn the good games? The Colts get to win in thier brand new staduim, the Giants win the game after hanging thier Super Bowl banner, and the Monday Night games are decent...2 division rivalry games, one of which I am willing to watch if possible (GB/Minn).

You can't expect them to throw Colts/Pats and Giants/Cowboys on the first week...those are guaranteed ratings games they can sell ads for at a high price come mid season.

Exactly. Those big time games come in the middle of the season when some fans may start to cool off.. To get everyone going again.

The NFL does like to throw the non-primetime networks a bone from time to time. As a Cowboys fan they've often opened up as the Fox 4:15 game and then end up in primetime in Weeks 2 and 3. I believe the NFL finally gave CBS the Colts-Patriots game as a reward, and put Dallas vs Philly as their Sunday Nighter, since it had been a primetime game for so long. This year I bet the Pats big games verse Pitt, Indy, and San Diego end up in primetime, or at least 2 of 3 do, and so they at least will let CBS protect their biggest ratings draw by letting them have them opening weekend.

So we're left with the following possible opponents for Week 1:

Jets (home/away)
Bills (home/away)
Dolphins (home/away)
Rams (home)
Cardinals (home)
Chiefs (home)

What a snoozer for Week 1 either way :(

Sorry but did I miss something? Why isn't it possible to play Seattle or San Fran on oppening weekend? I don't think they announced that the Pats would play at 1:00 PM, so couldn't they play a west coast team at 4?

it's not a big deal if nobody sees us in the week 1. When we win the first 8 games, we will be nationally televised every week after that.

Because CBS is televising the US Open in the 4pm slot that Sunday. There are no Seattle/SF/SD home games against AFC opponents.

Thanks for the explanation....

Has there been any news on that rumored "home game" against Denver in Edmonton (or was it Calgary?)?

Why wouldn't they show NFC home team games on Fox? Did they change that too. I'm from WA State so I know they show Hawks at 4 all the time when they are at home and it was always on Fox. I bet the same would be for San Fran. Not so sure about San Diego though since they are AFC.

The rule is the network that gets the game is the network of the road team. So if it's an AFC road team (the Pats) it's on CBS. And since CBS has the US Open men's final at 4, there are no CBS NFL games that day at 4, which would eliminate the west coast trips for the Pats.

I'm sticking by my preditcion of week 9 at Seattle on Monday night and week 10 at Indy.

Thanks, just realized that. Makes sense. I'm just waiting to find out when we play the Hawks so that I can get tickets.

Ah, very nice observation. And ya, thats about the time a Colts/Pats game would come into a schedule.

With Indy coming off a bye, right?
