A pondering about the Super Bowl in general

Yeah, I already figured out the problem with my own idea. But you see what I am saying, right? Like, if the Sixers make it to the NBA Championship this year against the Lakers and win the first game, we are all pretty sure the Lakers will take the series eventually. But just like with the Pats beating the Chargers last year...it probably shouldn't have happened and the wrong team went to the AFCCG against the Colts.

Yes, I do see what you are saying, and your idea would have DEFINITELY favored the Pats last year. However, I like the way the playoffs are now - one and done. That's what makes the playoffs so exciting is that anything can happen even though you may be heavily favored - as the Chargers experienced in 2006, and the Pats experienced in 2007.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I thought I had a quick fix for the additional game thing.

At least you Charger fans have stuff to talk about. How LdT's rehab is going, what Rivers will be like in his 4th year. Since Moss was signed, we've pretty much been at the end of the exciting talk line until the draft.

With an AFC championship. Say, how is that quarterback situation? Pennington thrown the ball upwards of 5 yards yet?

ease up it was just a playful joke poking fun at the jets if anything. If your going to do a Jets rip Pennington is too obvious. Where is the creativity?

Ok Ok, I'll try harder.

Say, congratulations on signing Calvin Pace in the wake of Jonathan Vilma not working out. I'm sure his 14 career sacks sure are worth that 22 million in guaranteed money!

Oh and 182 total career tackles, over 5 seasons. Nice.

Um, 14 career sacks doesn't seem worth 22 million dollars. It seems like really poorly spent money, to be honest.

...ah, I get the game now.

You know, every sports besides football has a best of series to determine it's champion. Why not football? Imagine a best of 3 series for the Super Bowl. There would be no anomilies (ahem, this years Giants), there would be more revenue, more games (I think Goodell is trying to add one more game to the schedule), hell, they could even move the games around. Game 1 would be in Zona, Game 2 in Miami, deciding game in NO if it comes to it.

I am sure there are about a million things wrong with my plan, but it does have some benefits...for example, if it was adopted last year, I wouldn't have seen the "2007 World Champions" banner hanging outside Giants Stadium last night.

Give it a rest, the Giants won and Pats lost end of story. Pats will have great incentive to win this year.

We should give the Jets some credit. Guaranteeing the last two years of Coles' contract was a good move. Since he has become a Jet again, he has managed 17 touchdowns in just THREE seasons!

Randy Moss only had...how many in his first year as a Patriot? I can't remember.

A best of series obviously takes away a large % of luck. We probably wouldn't have won the Superbowl vs the Rams, but probably would've beat the Giants. There isn't much room for underdog heroics in a best of series, but more finesse and skill.

It just depends on what your personal preference is.

Wow, you're up on current events. Why not read the whole thread before you post?

I'm curious how losing to the Rams would have changed our future, with Tom Brady especially. It seems he would have been the starter no matter what (as I seem to remember hearing BB didn't like how Bledsoe played much anyway), but would he be as good? The man has ice water in his veins, he's clutch as hell. Would that change without that Cinderella year?

I found it funny. The deal, that is.

So, do you really think they will get McFadden? I think he will be gone somehow. Gholston I could see being the Jets pick, however.

I lean towards Gholston b/c McFadden has to many ?'s. Plus a Defense w/ Gholston, Pace, Harris, Revis, Jenkins, and Rhodes has the potential and is a couple pieces away from being a pretty good defense. Back to the joke for a sec. Your joking that my team overspent for an above average LB. Hilarious...I guess

Hope I'm not trying to rub things the wrong way, but FWIW-you guys would have destroyed my team if we had gotten to Arizona instead. Really-we only have 2 good pass rushers(Ware and Ellis), our interior DL is undersized(Tank is good, but he's hardly a 3-4 guy, and Ratliffe while playing well at the nose for an injured Fergy, is undersized too), we have guys in the secondary who can't even cover their own beds(Roy and Jacques Reeves, in particular), our run game is moot despite MB3's presence, and our OL showed their cracks since Dec.

Really-give the Giants alot of credit-they've had a sick pass rush all season long, and their new DC Steve Spagnuola was smart enough to utilize them to the max while their previous one(Tim Lewis) only knew zone schemes.

I am just jealous. I don't know if you heard, but our LB's were there when God was born. And yes, none of the "jokes" have been laugh out loud funny.

I don't like McFadden for some reason. He just looks like he will be injury prone once NFL guys are hitting him. But, I do think he will be better than Bush in the long run, due to the SEC being such a better conference than the Pac-10. He should be more NFL ready. Now if his body can just hold up...

With a win against the Chiefs, how did yours finish?:D

yea, one of how many wins? My team? Well my favorite team finished 18-1, and is more than likely going to be in the superbowl next season. How you think your favorite team will do?

I love one game finals, where anything can happen. To me, that is the reason that the NCAA college basketball tourney and the Super Bowl are so exciting, and why it's (almost) always so fun to root for the underdog.

BTW, I wouldn't trade SB 36 for anything. That was the best sports moment of my life.

No, the best team doesn't always win.

But the best team on that one day does. That's how legends are made. And that's a big part of what makes the Super Bowl an unofficial holiday and one of the biggest days of the year for most of America.

TO go along with what you say I just see McFadden as such a boom or bust guy. I would be thrilled to have him but Gholston is the much better pick IMO plus it keeps him away from the Pats.
