Pat Kirwin "If Gholston is not on the board by #7 the Patriots will trade down"

I can see us trading down multiple times. Trade down to #10 with N.O. and pick up a 3rd rounder, then trade down again with Arizona at #16 who may want DRC and pick up another 3rd rounder. We can package a couple 3rds to get another 2nd pick.

That sounds like a Pats thing to do. They're usually about that active on draft day.

i agree, gholston would be a great player for this team but if hes gone, i know bb and sp will do the right thing and trade down and get some more picks!

And hopefully they use those picks in the right way. We need an infusion of youth on the D side.

So you really think a rookie is going to step in and start from the get-go?

Exactly, I think people forget that BB designs defenses that confuse veteran NFL QBs (and upstage opposing coaches).

How can one expect a rookie to come in and absorb all that info in half a year? Thats why they handled Merriweather with kids gloves (and most all of the rookies every year exception being Mankins). They dont want the Rooks to blow a fuse and lose their mojo.

Am I the only poster on this board who isn't totally gaga over Gholston? The guy was a solid second rounder as late as November, and suddenly he's the cat's meow.

If Gholston is off the board at 7, then at least one player from Ellis, Dorsey, McFadden, Ryan, Long, Long is still on the board... and of them, Ryan is the only player I would trade away from. All the rest would be impact contributors for us for the next six years.

But my vote is still for Brandon Flowers. That guy kicks ass.

Kirwan had the Pats taking Ryan Kalil in rd 1 last year, so he knows as much about what they'll do as my grandma.

Thanks for reminding me of that. Kirwan was in love with Kalil last year, and it seemed like he tried to project him to a number of teams, even those who didn't really need a Center (NE).

Huh? I totally respect your opinions but at #7? Oh, maybe you mean the Brandon Flowers from the band, The Killers. Yeah, he is kick-ass.
