Season Tickets

For some reason I laughed at that last "STFU" line.

This is a very emotional issue.

In my industry the cost of base metals has almost doubled this past year. That has little to do with this issue, but it sure makes doing business a pain in the butt.

Life is getting very expensive.

I agree that life is expensive but to blame inflation for the $44 price increase is asinine (thanks for that gem pheenix11).

Pro Sports are a heck of a lot different from buying a litre of petrol or a litre of milk.

BTW: I'm glad you renewed your tickets. I hope the new people who will be at Gillette this year will be loud and proud.

I just hope I get to go to a game or two next year.

Before the game in Tampa Bay, of course.

A question for those who know more about the stadium financing deal than I do:

Could the recent trouble in the money lending markets have affected the plan Kraft had for paying off Gillette Stadium? That and the recent decreases in American buying power (or whatever the economists call it) could be far more influential in the rise in ticket prices than simple inflation.

I think you are missing the point.

My tickets went from around $3,800 to over $5,000 (3 seats). Two of the ten games are for pre-season. So for 8 games that would be over $208 per seat ($624 a game + parking, etc). And don't forget the bad weather games. And mind you my seats as well as others were already the most expensive in the NFL.

Perhaps you liked being ripped off, me I don't. It is not always about the money, there is something called principle. I can pay for the tickets but choose NOT to. As I said in a prior post, I have an aversion to being bilked -- especially considering I don't even have a chance at a SB ticket.

I have been a season ticket holder since the early '70's so please don't tell me I am not a Pats fan. I sat through some really UGLY seasons and never wavered in my support. And the team will always have my support. The TEAM. Not Kraft. I never liked the guy and never will.

And think again if you think people on the waiting list will get the tickets. NOT. Friends, family, and business associates of Kraft will get the first pick. After all it is his team, but this is one person's money he will not have.

My large screen HD TV is just fine and it doesn't cost me a cent.

And I for one hope this greedy move on his part comes back to bite him. He needs a little perspective. Actually he needs a lot right now.

Don't know what your ax to grind really is, but, you really should take it and part your hair with it and make the world a better place.

Without Kraft there would be no team here, no stadium, no Championship banners, no Tom Brady or BB and no season tickets for any of us.

I work really hard for my money and I really enjoy going to New England Patriot football games.

Too bad you lost your enjoyment for the sport or the team or whatever it really is that soured you, but don't blame it on a price increase.

One can appreciate some of the things an individual does while disliking other actions of that same individual. Rather than pulling out that suggestion that a poster kill his/her self, perhaps you could simply recognize that everyone has a price threshold and that a $1200 dollar increase is a great deal of money for most people. Huge price hikes, ridiculous parking fees and poor parking locations is not conducive to a happy fan base of average wage earners. These teams are making more than enough money already, and price increases like this are not needed. The television contracts have seen to that.

To paraphrase Chris Rock:

Just because you can raise the prices doesn't mean it's to be done.

Well said.

fgssand: Kraft is no hero. He wasn't the only guy who tried to buy the Pats back in the day. Kraft owned the Stadium so he had an advantage.

Does Jeff Laurie ring a bell?

He's a hero of mine for numerous reasons.

Because he's Jewish? What are the other reasons?

Either way that's weak.

LOL, you're saying it's weak and you don't even know my reasons? That's cool. You're pretty open minded.

(And no, not every Jew in the world is my hero.)

edit: and if you care, which I'm sure you won't and you'll dismiss as weak or petty or pro-Semite or whatever, the reasons mostly have to do with the $100 million he and the Kraft foundation have raised for charity; second to that is the fact that when I've met him, I've always been blown away by his intelligence, success, and devotion to his family; and third and certainly not least, under his guidance my favorite team in the world has had unparalleled success.

I hope that's not too weak for you.

Transferring to a family member is possible but pretty expensive. It's easy enough to do "under the table" though. Bill gets sent to Gainzo, buyer sends money to Gainzo, Gainzo gets tix and sends them to buyer. As long as Gainzo is willing to continue the practice it could continue indefinitely. Well, until, you know...

I sold my tix for 5 games this year to one of my friends for the first time. The financial realities of 4 kids on one income are slowly starting to surface. :(

i've been doing that sort of thing for years.the season tix holders that i've sat with since 93' buy my account from me.the invoice gets sent to me but they pay for it.i get to choose which game(s) i want to go to.

i feel your pain pats1yes.i too have been a tix holder for a while and i think it's a bunch of BS regarding the whole tix holder policies.especially in your case long time holders should automatically get SB tix.that lottery is a f****** joke.for the last 3-4 years,i haven't been to a game.and what the hell do they need a mall in the middle of a stadium parking lot.assinine idea.it's all about the $$.to hell with the fans.

Sadly, after following the Pats since 1960 and sharing part of a season's ticket (front row 40 yd line) with a friend since 1985, I'm droping out.

The parking situation has reached a point that I really cannot stand the hassle. $40 to park across the road and walk over 20 minutes to the game. Wait with the motor running an hour or more just to get out onto Rt 1. Each year one of my old favorite easy access spots would get eliminated. Patriots Place and the demise of P2 was the final straw.
Drive >90 minutes to get home; that's without the tieups on 495N or 95N.
The increasing number of night games with arrival home way too late for this geezer.
Too many 4 o'clock games; miss the 1PM tailgate experience.

I drove through unplowed major highways to get to last December's Miami game and swore that if I got there and back without spinning out into an accident like those arround me I'd never do it again. I'm not going to buy a 4WD SUV just to get to a couple football games.

At $179 per seat. I'll leave the seats to the corporate brown noser of the week who sucks up for the company tickets. Expect less noise from the 'fans'.
i hear ya PISSAH.i've been a season tix holder since 93' and if it weren't for the people next to me for all those years,my account would have been gone for a while.i drive 2 1/2 hours to get to a game.between the kraft's and the economy i'm probably not going to any more games either.

I got my season tickets (4 seats) and they only cost me $360/seat for the season. and I have endzone seats in the 100 level. My only regret... the Patriots only come to Buffalo once a year! But I'll be there. See you at the tailgate parties

They were G-O-N-E , without Kraft - go back and read what you either never did to begin with or failed to comprehend.

Laurie was a great choice - I am very jealous of his success.

For many reasons, (see Pat jew above for a few), Kraft's ownership of this franchise is as good as it can possibly get.

Kraft came up with a better offer than Laurie back in 1993 as he owned the Stadium.

Are you forgetting about Kraft having a deal to move the team to Hartford and his decision to hire Pete Carroll?

The success of the Patriots boils down to two men: Bill Belichick and Tom Brady.

Look at Washington.

Look at the banners flying over Gillette.

Look at who is at the top of both organizations.

I rest my case.

Bingo. If I hear one more time Kraft saved the team I am going to barf. The New England market would never have been left without a team.

This guy has forgotten that he was a season ticket holder and it was his wife's family money that ultimately allowed him to buy the team.

I think the success of the team because of Belichick and Brady has gone to his head.

A mall in a parking lot??? Just what the fans need -- more traffic. I am sure he uses a helicopter to get out.

Although I'm strongly critical of recent Kraft moves such as the Patriots Place abomination and the corporatization of the gameday crowd, Kraft deserves everlasting credit for keeping the team here. The NFL would NOT necessarily replaced the team had pro football once again failed in New England. Their 1st response would have been shoving the NY Giants in our face and TVs again. Who knew we'd be geting the 2007 SB Champs? :)

Kraft's move to New Haven was a ploy. And even if not, back then I would have made the pilgramage once a season or so to go to a homie game.

Sure Kraft made early football mistakes in his relationship with the Tuner but we all know that no owner relationship with the Tuner lasts long anyway. Hiring Pete Carroll was a mistake but remember that Kraft was ballsy enough to give a #1 pick for BB. At the time he was excoriated in the media and much of the fanbase for that move. What other of the 31 owners wanted BB?

Well you better start barfing and I hope you enjoy the taste.

How soon you guys forget - this team was within a whisker of being long gone. Once gone, can you really tell me for one second a stadium would have been built to try to attract a team back here HAH - public funds...riiiight.

The traffic situation is a direct result of New England not being able to build a freaking stadium in the area all during the 60's - that is why Foxboro happened, it was the only place that would allow a stadium to be built in the first place. that was the first save.

When Sullivan could no longer afford the club, we went through a few owners that came really close to losing this club outright - until Kraft came along and snatched at the last minute from Orthwein & St Louis. Then, the guy tried to build the stadium in an area that would be easier to get in and out of - like Southie, but of course the wonderful Boston politicians killed that and that is when Kraft made his deal with CT. He could not go through with it and kept them in Foxboro (he gave up a much better deal in Hartford by the way).

So just keep right on taking your shots at the guy that saved Pro Football for you and keep dreaming that someone would have bought the team and somehow a stadium would have magically been built and of course these saviors would have been much more successful that Kraft. Please - pass me some of what you are smoking, OK?

Take a good look at LA and then come to your senses and thank they guy for saving the franchise.

Well said, Fgs

for anyone who says this market would have sustained...maybe you are right but that doesn't mean we may not have lost the Pats...if Kraft didn't step in this team was going to St louis. Maybe our market would have brought another team back but would you wanna go thru what cities like Cleveland or houstan went thru. LA is still waiting.

Don't forget that the fact Kraft owned the stadium and the land was big part of his ability to be able to keep them here.

Kraft is the man because he was the guy who made all the right manuevers to keep this franchise here and don't forget that fact when this franchise is at it highest.
