Allow me to blow your mind:

The number of Pats fans I have met and not liked is roughly equal in proportion to the number of regular people I have met that I didn't like.

Yes, it usually begins with self-loathing.

Is Hector a Pats fan?

Well, I grew up in New England, meaning most of those people are Patriots fans.. And considering I didn't like all of them, I'll have to go with yes.

I was at the Pats vs. Dolphins game this past year and I thought I would be ok will all the other Pats fans there...I was wrong

By the fourth quarter, one hammered older fan (50 years old approximately) bumped into me, while I apologized, he kept walking. My brother asked what i said and i told him that I was apologizing to the drunk guy. I guess the guy thought i was talking crap about him and gets in my face and starts glaring at me. My brother is 6'7'' and I'm 6'4''. The wasted guy is smaller the Doug Flutie. A security guard saw the whole thing and stopped the tiny man before anything happened to him or us and ejected him from the stadium.

I never realized how many people go to the games with chips on their shoulders. I believe they take the "respect card" to heart, and they believe it is a personal attack on their character.

It's like a line from Dazed and Confused "I only came here to drink some beers and kick some ass....well it looks like we are almost our of beer." Gillete stops serving beer after the fisrt half leaving a bunch of dumb drunk people with nothing left to do except fight.

People are stupid.

I never really understood the obsession with drinking at a Football game. I go to watch the game and when I am sober there is enough going on on the field to keep me busy. I don't think I would be able to follow it as well drunk. Not to mention getting up to get a beer every ten minutes and going to the bathroom every 20 min.

Don't feel bad though this is not just a gillete problem it goes on everywhere.

One of the funniest things I saw at a football game happened last year up in buffalo. A group of kids came into the section (didn't even look legal to drink) one of them attempted to climp a row to get to the right one and failed falling backward very awkward (funny) and landing on the bench and as he began to roll to the groung he grabed the bench and was jsut hanging there. Not falling but to drunk to pull himself up. His friend helped him just as security came over. Oh yeah this all happended about an hour prior to kick off, the Security feeling bad that the game was still so far from kickoff was nice and did not kick the guy out. 5 minutes later the kid was barking all over himself and he got ejected (I was one of like 3 guys other than them in the section already). Pretty pathetic but it got a few laughs out of me as this kid made a fool of himself.

Being in Connecticut it's mostly New York Fans and the Boston fans seems to have a little special connection with the others.

Can't imagine living in Mass, with everyone around me being a Pats fan and that even people I don't like are sharing the same joy I am watching them win.

It really depends on the time of year.. Most are pretty good people like most fans in the NFL.. But when the season comes around about 85-90% of them turn rabid!! Lol, espcially towards us Colts fans, as well as Jets fans.

I have. At training camp you get the big fat guys who are so desperate for an autograph that they'll push little kids out of the way. No excuse for that.

On the west coast, I've run into a few Pats fans that were d-bags. There's always a handful of visiting fans looking to start a fight with the home fans and the Pats are not exempt from having those kind of guys.

The number of home fans looking to start a fight with Pats fans minding their own business, though, far outnumbers the trouble-making Pats fans. Makes sense, considering the ratio of fans.

Regards,
Chris

P.S. Semi-related anecdote: When the Sox beat the A's in the 2003 ALDS, it was best to leave that stadium quietly. The Oakland gang-bangers who jumped on the bandwagon for the playoff run were looking for blood.

Isn't it amazing how so many CT'ers are NY fans?? I've always been blown away by this. My boyfriend is a CT NY fan and we have daily debates about this. :)
btw, I've never met a Patriots fan I didn't like.

I'd say it's about 60/40 in favor of NY fans here in CT. Without a doubt the smallest Pats following (percentage wise) of all New England.

Personally I feel it's a great place to be a sports fan. You get all of your rival teams games (Jets/Yankees/Knicks) on TV as well as your primary Mass teams. Plus you get people to celebrate with and bash after a win.

Also polluted with tons of bandwagon fans as well though. Lot of blue Giants jerseys popping up as of late. As well as a lot of so-called Pats fans suddenly being ashamed of wearing their jerseys now.

At least most of the Gillette Patriots fans are real Patriot fans so how can you not like them?

Seriously ... has anyone seen any "Pink Hat" fans at Gillette? Just wondering?

Not in real life. Online, there are a few here that make me raise my eyebrows. But sometimes, I don't think they are really fans.

There are plenty of pricks here... so, yeah.

NOTE: not all of you are pricks, but, there are a handful of you in here.

You def. know who you are.

What about the black hats?

How about the mad hatters?

I rode the train back to South Station behind this guy and girl that decided right then and there to cheat on their significant others after bi***ing about them for the first 30 min of the train ride. If they consider themselves Pats fans, then I don't like them.

I also don't really like the few people I've seen who dont give a crap about cheering or getting outwardly excited about a big moment in a game. Why pay the money to go if you're just going to act uninterested? I appreciate that people have their own methods/superstitions to supporting the team, sometimes it just seems they'd be better off doing it from the warmth of their living room.

The only Pats fan I really detested was at game #16 this year at the Meadowlands. There were lots of Pats fans tailgating and being civilized and Giants fans were respectful as well. This one little guy (5'8 or so) with big friends was mouthing off to Giants fans looking for trouble, knowing he had support from guys 6'3 250+ who were with him.. It wasn't cool.......

Actual conversation

Obnoxious Pats fan (OPF)--- " I got a great deal at a hotel nearby, only $50.00 it's the XXXXXX hotel"
Me --- " That's probably because of the serial killer thing there last year. they've had trouble renting the place.. I think they caught the guy. No wait. They didn't catch him. Just be sure that lock your door and you should be okay."
I said it with a straight face and the guy thought I was serious. I thought he would wet himself. My teenagers played along and had a good laugh later......

Lots. There are a-holes in every fan base and ours is no different.
