Jets trade for Kris Jenkins

Re: OT: Jets aynt messin around

What are you doing with Robertson? Will you have to cut him?

He probably in the end will get traded b/c of his high cap number and below average play last year. I have said this before but the kid has some talent, put him in the 4-3 with another good DT where he can just pass rush, he would be a very good player IMO. For some reason mangini always talks about how he likes him even though he is an average at best NT

Re: OT: Jets aynt messin around

guessing u swapped firsts, and hoping to get carolina their qb and then new england can take gholston.

Re: OT: Jets aynt messin around

Jets get Jenkins for a 3rd and 5th. A steal IMO, we finally have our nose tackle

Re: OT: Jets aynt messin around

Hahhahahahaha.....and the Jest fans say the Pats sign old, tired players.

Jest fans - the excitment of of the first day of FA is equivalent to a six year old on Christmas Day. Pathetic fan base.

Re: OT: Jets aynt messin around

JENKINS is only 28 and fill an immediate need which just happens to be th ebiggest hole in the 3-4. Im thrilled that we got a pro bowl caliber linemen for a 3rd and 5th

NFL Network's Adam Schefter reports that the Jets signed DT Kris Jenkins to a five-year, $35 million contract, with $20 million guaranteed.

Too much, IMHO.

Re: OT: Jets aynt messin around

Im not sure if its too much money w/ the dt price tag being so high this offseason. If he can play to his ability it is money well spent especially with Tommy kelly and Corey Williams getting such huge deals.

I agree with you on that. As long as he can make the transition to 3-4 NT, it's a good move for the Jets. Naturally, if he can't adapt, it becomes a lodestone, but that's nothing unusual in the NFL.

Guy hasn't done sh!t after Carolina played the Pats in the Super Bowl.

Re: OT: Jets aynt messin around

Alan Faneca locked up for four years w/ Pace coming for a visit tomorrow. I hosnestly do not know who these aggressive in FA Jets are

Re: OT: Jets aynt messin around

I agree. BB and Mangini had the same feeling about the 2007 NFL Draft, that it wasn't deep. BB used 1 pick on Meriweather, traded one over to next year, another for Welker, and another for Moss.

Mangini packaged and moved up for two players that he was sure were going to be very good.

There's more than one way to skin a cat.

And both genious's were wrong. Where would the Giants be without that class of 2007??

As far as Jenkins go, he is unfortunately a good pick up for the Jets, How do you beat the Pats / Brady,, pressure up the middle. I bet they limit most of his plays to passing downs.

Pace signed with the fins last I heard

Re: OT: Jets aynt messin around

He is a BIG body and nothing more. Carolina wanted to dump him last year and couldn't get anything. His best days are behind him.

Re: OT: Jets aynt messin around

Thanks, gents, for a very entertaining thread.
Enlightening, too ... one might almost say.

Mangi, you seem like a gentleman.
Takes guts to absorb some of this guff on a hostile site.
Appreciate your calm and intelligent portrayal of the Jets' strengths ... weaknesses ... and needs.
We do need more such info and opinion from the other side!

Thank you sir, thats why im here. If their is a Jet related thread I will post in it but if its Pat related I just sit back and watch. Once you get past the obvious jets jokes its good to talk football here

If Jenkins can stay healthy this is potentially a good move by the jets. Run defense was one of their big problems last year and having a 340 LB fatty in the middle should help that out. If he doesn't pan out it's still just a 3 and a 5. Good strategy.
