Anyone stupid enough to turn on WEEI before 10AM deserves to be frustrated. Dennis and Callahan are two ignorant shock talk mediots I'd prefer not discuss the Patriots. Politics and athlete bashing is their forte.

Dale says Don Banks will be on in the 11 o'clock hour, hoping Tedy will be on later. Holley is off and Laura Bienke is co hosting, which is unfortunate, but Michael is pretty connected and usually calls in as stuff breaks.

There is more Patriots talk on WEEI in the last couple of years than ever. Ordway had the Tedy deal first yesterday. Used to be there was virtually no mention of football from February to August, not so any more. It is sports radio, not football radio...

Some of you really need medication...

No i knew that Dale and Holly would talk football, but disapointed that Holly is not on today. I know things have changed since 2001, but it still was a little frustrating to hear D @ C, was hoping Schefter would have been on today..

With this being opening day of Spring Training, I'd think it would be understandable to hear more about the Sox than the FA's today.

Has anyone figured out WEEI yet. They are all about beating the latest hotbutton story to death. A large number of topics that WEEI beat into the ground are not on the field issues rather off the field issues with sports players.

If callers want to talk about Manny, that is what they will be talking about when you tune in. But they just told me that the Eagles have announced a "media availability" for Asante Samuel at 4:30 today. May be just to comment on his FA tour, or it may be to announce something.

If you want them to talk more football, call in and ask a football question.

Except Dennis and Callahan couldn't care less about opening of spring training. They care about Manny blowing off Bush and wounded veterans. There was little actual baseball discussed on their show today.

Ha! Ha! Yeah, you should call in and be told by the call screener to call back next week because they are talking Manny this morning. If you don't think WEEI screens their calls and only put the ones through that they want, you are very niave. The callers who on the air want to talk Manny because they only put the callers on the air who wanted to talk about Manny.

This is true. A former roommate was an intern and call screener there.

As for being the "opening day of spring training..." that was last week.

Today was the official opening day for both Cactus and Grapefruit leagues.

Boston Sports radio focuses on baseball, except perhaps during the NFL playoffs.

I have heard the same thing from multiple sources.

I mean really. Is most of Boston up in arms about whether Manny went to the White House and then an event for wounded veterans? I don't think they are, but if you listened to Dennis and Callahan you wouldn't think so. Funny also that after it switched to Dale and Holley most of the callers have been interested in the Patriots.

Your roomate is a bonehead. Radio runs on a format. Talk radio stations talk about whatever brings in the most listeners. Radio still sells advertising on cume and avg listners. The stations main goal is to reach as many people as they can. If there was ever a person screening sox calls, then you can bet sox talk is what reaches the most people.

WEEI is owned by a huge corp. Entercom like Clear Channel could give a rats as about the pats or the sox. They care about reaching as many people as they can so they can sell advertising space for tons of $$$$$$$$$$$$$$

If you hear a lot of baseball guess what, thats what the majority of people want to hear.Btw EEI has been talking about the NFL for the last 4 hours.

Exactly, it is a business. WEEI has more of a financial interest in the Red Sox than the Pats since they broadcasting the Red Sox games (well they split them with their sister station). So financially, it is in their best interest to push Red Sox because they are the Red Sox broadcast station.

Besides, the parent corporation doesn't do the programing anyway. The program director does. Besides, WEEI wasn't talking Manny because it was baseball, but because it is controversy (manufactured controversy if you ask me). Controversy trumps everything.

If anyone should complain about the content of EEI broadcast it's Bruins fans who, when they actually get let through, get laughed off the air by the hosts. Boston used to be a huge hockey town and although Jacobs is mostly to blame the media certainly doesn't help the matter, and they are the hottest team in the Eastern Conference right now.

I guess the fact that he was instructed to tell people, "we are only discussing (stories-a, b, or c) today. Tell people wanting to call about (stories-x, y, or z) to call back tomorrow."

Also, I have heard Dale, Glenn, and Butch Sterns all tell their listeners "I'm sorry, if you want to talk about (story-x) we are not discussing that today."

Weekends are not as structured as this. However, weekdays, especially the drive time shifts, are. That, of course, is where the numbers are most important.

BTW, I called once to talk about college basketball during March Madness when they were talking about it that day. I was told, "we are done with that today, call back another day." I didn't bother.
