I'm in my early to mid 40's..........

I've never felt this low not only as a Pats fan, but a sports fan. After the gut wrenching loss of perfection, I can't even hibernate in peace, the crap is seeping through to other channels and stations, and print. The video tape crap, Senator Specter, Matt Walsh, frivolous lawsuits, LET US GRIEVE OUR GODDAMN SEASON ENOUGH WITH ALL OF THIS BULL**** I'M GETTING SICK AND TIRED OF IT.

I've never been this depressed as a fan in my entire life and I can't even bring to focus on free agency or next year because of the over saturation and total domination of this controversy surrounding us in all phases of media, even sources non related to sports! It hurts so badly and it just won't go away. I'm so upset with the way the year ended and this is just excruciating pain to go through as a lifelong fan.... Anyone else feel this down?

i think alot of us feel the same way. hoepfully it'll simmer down soon. in the meantime, do like me. buy a case of beer, and spend all day sunday with 'madden o8' and beat the crap out of every team. it really works for me. i played the s.b. again yesterday, and killed the giants. its only a video game, but it made me feel better:D
bring on free agency!!!!:rocker:

Yeah back in 85 , we lost to the bears, we had that drug scandal, and people said we were doomed.. But Eason had a solid season for us, but that is with Grogan calling plays... 96 Parcells leaves , we had all that crap with him... This offseason even though 2 weeks old has been a little bit of a downer, espically how we lost the super bowl. You just cant take anything for granted, I know with Brady and Belichick we will always be contenders.. But it feels like we are having are hearts ripped out day after day this offseason..

I do.

Mid 40's Pats fan, and last night I felt the same-I have never felt worse as a Pats fan-through all the years and all the ups and downs-this is the worst.

It was bad enough to have the season end the way it did, but this water torture of Spygate is draining.

I am sure it just feels worse because it is happening right now, but it's bad for me too.

Me too, Mid 50's fan, and the past two weeks just seems to be piling on to the extreme. It's everywhere, everything reminds me of the loss, even Tom Petty.....And all this spygate sch1t has turned the media and other teams fans into a pack of hyenas, circling to finish the kill......

Aw, c'mon guys - man up! You think Belichick let's his players and coaches feel sorry for themselves, just because the national media and some crooked politicians have their panties in a twist? Hell no!

Use it as fuel! BE ANGRY AND DEFIANT!

This team is strong and tough - physically and mentally. As fans, we ought to follow their lead. When you run into someone who wants to give you crap about any of this extracurricular nonsense, give them a hail and hardy GFY! The exception being the Giants fan - to them, graciously acknowledge that on that Sunday, the Giants out-Patrioted the Patriots.

This team is poised for a great season next year - be excited.

Based on what I have read to date, I expect Goodell to go to the mat to protect the Patriots and the NFL from this ****estorm. He isn't going to throw Kraft and the Patriots under the bus. The Patriots organization is playing their role in this well scripted public dance, and as long as they do that the commissioner will protect them. It's a very exclusive club among these owners and coaches.

Don't worry - there's lots of good stuff that is yet to come. Don't you thing a multi-billion dollar franchise and even richer league knows how to fight down and dirty with well heeled lawyers and lobbyists. The tide will turn. Concede nothing to the enemy - that includes fans of other teams, all the major media outlets and congressional knobs. To them I offer a cheerful - GFY!

Not having much problem getting over it and looking forward to next year.
Reason? I normally do not watch TV except for PATs, Celtics and NFL Network.
Since SB I don't watch NFL Network any longer. I keep up with news and
PATs with selected Internet sites. This one and one other for the PATs.

So I don't get hit with all the garbage you are getting. I am looking foward
to next year. I would love to see them go undefeated next year. :D

The team went 18-1 for crying out loud. Do you remember Rod Rust? Joe Kapp? THis is NOTHING.

Well then the time is f'ing NOW to get their lawyers involved and if they have any evidence against other teams....it is time to start dangling that sh## out there......the Pats are getting pounded in the media day after day after day........Even if you DO NOT want to hear or see anything to do with sports....which I don't right now.....As you all say.....still hurting from that deploreable loss........I turn on my computer.....Yahoo main screen pops up this AM with "Patriots spygate Payback" Rams player sues Patriots Organization over taping in SB in 2001.........Now what the f**k!!?? It's like these attacks will NEVER GO AWAY........and attack after attack is coming against the Pats with NO rebuttal........The Pats need to do something to defend their image and legacy NOW.....They need to start playing HARDBALL.....because right now we as fans, and the Pats players and organizations are getting mutilated in all forms of the media....and even the F'ing government (IE sphincter) is attacking them....As you say, truly one of the LOWEST points in my life as a New England/Boston fan........Hard to look forward IN ANY WAY to next season....with all this witch hunt stuff going on day in and day out....Kraft needs damage control immediately....or at least make some kind of statement in defense.......painful...painful...painful

I felt way worse after the Bears pummeled us.
Spygate must be resolved through a full investigation(throw the Colts/Titans possible game fixing in the mix also) it will not "go away" and I don't know why so many Pats fans here wish it would.
It might take a while.

I think what he is getting at is the constant barrage in the media day after day after day.....following one of the most painful losses in Pats history.....is burning a hole in his gut.....It is so difficult to watch the team you love and all the great feats of the players being questioned and trashed over and over and over......I just want this to end once and for all.....and fast......Like I said earlier......EVEN IF YOU DON'T want to know about anything to do with sports right now and you are trying to decompress........so to speak......Every form of media (hell it will show up on the Food Network next which my wife is watching) is running this story into the ground.......

As far as the overall season went......one of the greatest of all time.......the run to 18-0 was one of the most exciting (if not heart killing from all the stress of watching those games) events I can ever recall.....Yes, the SB loss hurt bad.....because we were SO friggin close to "immortality" in the game......but I can get over that I think over time.....but it is like getting a bad cut....and then tearing it open....and then it starts to scab a little.....then tearing it open and....so on......Very difficult......

This is a marathon, not a sprint - let the enemy expend their "ammunition" and the Pats/NFL will have more to use against them when fire is returned. This won't go away. We will have to listen to it all next season. If you think it's intolerable now, just wait. The good news is that almost all of them are full of crap - they will get tired and move on to the next big thing...just not soon enough.

So it is not enough to have a great team, to win consistently. You must be loved too.

I just posted this on the T&R part of CNNSI. I highly doubt it will shut people up, but I would say it is a fair account of how we all feel.

I hope a Mitchell Report situation happens. If the Pats are going to be investigated, then EVERY NFL team should be investigated. And all of the people screaming "Cheaters" will see the real truth.

Sorry, everyone. I don't think what the Patriots did was that bad. I think the Broncos salary cap cheating during thier Super Bowl run was worse, I think players doing HGH (including Rodney Harrison) and steroids is worse. I am more willing to believe former players (Keyshawn Johnson, Sean Salisbury) and coaches (Jimmy Johnson, Bill Parcells) when they say that this type of stuff is common and everyone does it and knows about it. And finally, I am more inclined to believe the Commisioner of the NFL who SAW the actual tapes before they were destroyed over the Senator that gave us the "Magic Bullet Theory" in the Warren Commision.

Actually I look at this a different way... coming from the years of 2-14, I can say emphatically that 18-1 is MUCH better.... yes, even including the dissapointment of not achieving the perfect season with a Super Bowl Ring.

And with the Patriots dominating the 21st Century its not surprising to me that 31 other teams are throwing anything and everything at us that they can.

The entire aspect that everyone seems to routinely overlook in Spygate is that, should push come to shove, this "scandal" is going to implicate pretty much every other team in the league, illustrating, as Goodell has already been forced to admit that "cheating" by stealing signals is commonplace.

Why was Goodell trying to "put this behind him"? Because he and the rest of the NFL have no interest in illustrating just how deep the rabbit hole goes, and how many other teams and coaches from decades back have done everything they possibly can to give themselves and advantage by bending the rules as far as they can.

And yes - that includes reading the letter of the rule that videotaping was only prohibited on game day - and the reading of the rules that don't prohibit videotaping practices.

Yes, I still feel pretty crappy. The Super Bowl with the Bears was BAD, especially since I was dating a Bears fan at the time, but I still am having a hard time getting past this. I know I will, and yes, the 2-14 seasons were horrible. I guess we've gotten to "used" to winning and I was 99.99999% sure we'd win this Super Bowl. I'll never take the team and what they accomplish in the future for granted.

I agree with most of what has been said; this piling on sh!t is getting old. A lawsuit now over the 2002 Super Bowl!? At least when we were 1-15 I knew we sucked and could deal with it; this crap is wearing on my last nerve.

Sorry, it's tough to be a fan of this team right now...............

I went through this already once with UConn basketball in 2006. A couple kids on the team stole laptops. One kid was suspended for the year, and the other for a semester. All year long the opposition cried foul, and so did the media, when there was nothing foul about the punishments.

But you couldn't explain it to people who, one, were haters, and two, wanted to take UConn down a peg since they were clearly favored to win the national championship. When UConn lost in a huge upset in the final rounds, people were crowing everywhere. That experience actually prepared me well for this one. I just don't get upset about what the haters have to say anymore. I'm perfectly fine with everything about the Patriots except their Super Bowl performance--though if Walsh has a tape of the walkthrough I will then be very, very disappointed.

Im not angry, just frustrated. I feel, and you dont have to agree, that BB and Kraft are doing Pats fans a disservice by sitting back and not saying anything.

As bad as it is for BB, Kraft and the players, they have the BIG bucks to ease the pain and the ability to approach BB, Kraft et al and have their voices heard.

Day after day we fans hear it in some form or another. As stated in another thread, some of us get attacked when grocery shopping, or out with our family, for others its on the tv, in the news paper, on the internet.

It effect us, and yet, WE are powerless and helpless to do anything. We have to sit back and wait...and wait...and wait...and, well, you get the picture.

So I say, enough is enough, and its about time BB and Kraft and whomever else said soemthing about what they know and just blow the lid off of this once and for it. Just put it all out their, and let the NFL pick up the pieces! Why do we have to be the ONLY team going through this, you have to know out of the other 31, ONE at least was doing the same damn thing, and ONE more team being hauled in to this would be better than no one else being involved and us taking the fall for everything.

I am afraid if the Pats dont start talking then we are going to lose BB, and other FA are not going to want to come and play for us.

If this stem of anti-Patriots, this hideous jealousy from other teams and players, from dumb arse senators isnt nipped in the bud, this is going to cost us all so much.

In the end who gets hurt the most? WE DO!!!! WE DO!!! WE DO!!!! The fans, the people who love this team, but at the end of the day cant do a damn thing about it, except get ridiculed and tormented and screamed at by other NFL teams fans!

It makes me sick. I just want it to stop, one way or another, please, just stop dragging the arse out of it!

This is a test. It is only a test. When you put together the ideal team philosophy for this age of free agency and high salaries, you need to emphasize the importance of the team. That's what Kraft and BB and Company have done. This, too, shall pass.

Two points:

1. If Specter and others want to make a federal case out of this, then it's time to turn the spot light onto other teams for their mis-doings of the past. If they want to start nit-picking, then let's pick nits away on EVERYBODY.

2. The Pats need to determine the cause of their slide towards the end. Was it exhaustion? Was it Brady's injury? Was it being blind to the on-coming battle with a Giants D that was peaking perfectly? Was it over-confidence, what with all the media picking the Pats?? I think it was a combination of all of these, in varying amounts; but the primary reason was inadequate preparation for the onslaught of the Giants defensive rush. But BB and the leadership of the team need to get together and sort it out, totally upfront and honestly.

Let the lawyers do their thing in dealing with the hyenas trying to steal the Pats' fortune of the past; let BB and Co. solve the internal breakdown of the team's performance in XLII, which I sincerely hope they can do.
