Here is the cap figures for Rosey this year:

2008 $5,500,000 $1,828,000 $300,000 $6,720 $7,634,720 $1,828,000 $1,828,000

With a cap hit of $7,634,720, I don't think the Patriots will live with that. I think they will want to get him down to about $4mil.

I hope that they agree to restructure and extension. But if he doesn't, then I think they release him. I hope that he doesn't go to his "home town team".

Maybe we have a spy at his gate, so we can get some information. What's going to happen with Rosey?

I think they will try to restructure his contract. It was obvious after he went down how much of a factor he was. After he left not only was there virtually no pressure from the LT side Vrable's sack totals dropped like a rock.
If we do end up taking someone like Gholston? I think he'll back up Colvin and even Vrable to some extent.

I say re-structure or unfortunately cut him. This is the second time he has gone down with a season ending injury and he isn't getting any younger.

Re: Rosey Clovin:What will be done?

My guess is that the first thing they'll do is change his last name back to Colvin.:D

Re: Rosey Clovin:What will be done?

I think if he is cut ,mangini and parcells are going to play for him.We face him twice every year.

I don't think this is too complicated most guys dont want to be on a one year deal and we dont want such a big hit....I think he is to valueble to just let go, he might be worth 7 mil

Maybe that's what they haven't restructured yet?

Re: Rosey Clovin:What will be done?

Come Back!!! Come Back!

Re: Rosey Clovin:What will be done?

Funny you say that mepatnut because my wife works with his cousin denita and she has told my wife that he is hoping the colts invite him if the pats don't re-sign him. He also had a new house built here in indy not long ago so we will see what happens.

Re: Rosey Clovin:What will be done?

Yeah i'm so sure, please no he said she said on this board when it comes to our beloved players.
I still remember when Koppen's buddy from high school that Dan was a die hard eagle fan the superbowl was bitter sweet for him.
Was a vigilante looking for the highest dollar yeah he was spot on much like i'm hoping this woman is.

I don't know how much of this is true (please don't respond because I don't care either.)

but.. Colvin would be great in a scheme where all he does is rush the passer. I think the Pats need him so they have some flexibility at LB, Thomas can move inside and even rotate to the edge. Thomas was huge in the Superbowl.

Without any draft picks or Free Agents we have 3 of the 4 starters.

Starters - Colvin, Thomas, Vrabel, <<< player to be named >>
Quality reserves - this is where it gets a little scary, ideally someone like TBC could play in limited situations
Special teamers \ low quality depth - Woods, Alexander, Lua

Thank You for someone else seeing how much they missed Colvin and AD was not a consistent pass rusher. He was solid, but Colvin is a underrated pass rusher. They need a consistent pass rusher whether it's Colvin or someone else.

...or Mclovin? :D

Re: Rosey Clovin:What will be done?

I suspect that we can work out a long term deal with Colvin. However, if we can't, we will NOT do him the favor of cutting him. We'll just let play out his contract.

Also, he is well worth the $5.5M of new money for 2008.

I hope you're right. I can't imagine 2008 going very well without him.

(Let me edit that to state my fear is due to the age of 54 and 55 and their possible retirements. I do know that the Pats won some games w/o Colvin last year.)

Re: Rosey Clovin:What will be done?

When Colvin was injured, the defense took a step back and then things snowballed (fewer 3 & outs) and what do you know the offense lost step too.

Re: Rosey Clovin:What will be done?

As much as I loved how he performed, he seems to get injured just about every year and end up on IR. I know he played integral part on D when healthy but why not put A. Thomas on OLB spot permanently? This guy has speed and power to be premier pass rusher and after spending year in Pats' system, should be comfortable in the spot. Colvin, as much as I love what he did for Pats over the years, his salary is just way too high.

Re: Rosey Clovin:What will be done?

Look at this pic right here dwight freeney and rosevelt colvin you are looking more than likely at a future colts player. Na i really don't know what he will do he may just decide to restructure.

i think they will try to re do hes contract if not they will cut him if that heppens move AD to out side that 16sacks waitting to heppen i know 54 and 55 will be back and AD is better off as a pass rusher

I don't think he would be as effective in a base 4-3. But, he needs to reduce his cap hit to $4mil in order for it to work here.
