Any recommendation to do anything other than exercise your right as a consumer is fundamentally unethical and out of line. Boycott the paper and website if you feel that's warranted. Don't be a fool by suggesting anything else.

Certainly letting the advertisers know how you feel is your right as a consumer.

I agree with that and think it's a good suggestion. My response was originally directed at another post suggesting something else. That post has since been deleted by a Mod who is doing a great job.

Sigh...Tomase is just doing his job, leave him alone. Now is the job a respectable one? No it is not, not any more. But this is a new age of journalism and if you don't like it, then please put forth this kind energy into when they blow up a real story just to get hits and sell copies. Stories that matter and can really effect you and me...don't get worked up over silly sports stories

This is a real story though, it's dragging the players of '01 through the mud along with the current team, and now it even has the '01 Rams wanting answers.

Boycott? Does somebody actually pay money to read that garbage?

While I think the New York papers are trash as well (and the Boston Globe and/or Herald are owned by those rags I believe), I have actually found it refreshing to watch hometown newspapers (the New York papers) attack the other team (meaning the Pats) rather than the local team (as compared to the Herald and Globe that also attacks the Pats).

Other than Reiss, I have little time for the cast of characters staffing our major newspapers. They seem to forget that the Internet has sapped the power they once had to shape public perception.

My take is that the point you made above is the very reason this is happening. Being aggressive in breaking the news without taking the time for verification has become the norm due to the vast number of media sources providing competition and the ease of access to those sources by the readers. It's an indication that the Herald is desperate to the point of becoming careless.

it's front page and center on their website. i don't see any other newspaper in any other city pulling a stunt like this. i can understand the jealously from our rivals, but this treason in our town is unbelievable. pats are a treasure every other nfl city wish were theirs. and we have benedict arnold's trying to tear them down.

herald and tomase have to go .... no if's, and's or but's

This moron is seeking some attention. Although it is hard....ignoring him is the good way to punish. And yes....boycott Herald...before it was globe...now it is herald...hell do we have a news paper of our own..

I am now a huge Globe fan, screw the Herald.

It is great to see 73 people voted for YES. Only 1 voted for no, and the person that voted that way said it was an accident, he meant to vote YES.

So make that...

74 YES
0 NO

We're all in agreement on this. The Herald is awful.

Will the Herald get away with this??

Where are the facts??

Will the Patriots & the NFL sue for slander?? Can they??

I really think, unless he has substantiation, the man should be fired. Why in the world would he commit suicide like this??

I just do not get it, does anyone??

I wouldn't even use the Herald to let my puppy pee on anymore!
(Maybe an old one) LOL

I never go to their website anyway, just the Globe.

MODS: This may be a questionable post.

Folks, I'm not a die-hard on this site, so I don't know the inticate details of the etiquette here, nor am I particularly versed in the history of various local media, but...

Wasn't this joker exposed for doing some super shady sh*t 'round these parts a few months back?

I'm generally a live and let live kinda guy, but what I gathered from that episode left a bad taste in my mouth and a note to pay attention in the future.

Perhaps this wouldn't be a bad time to remind folks, if it hasn't been re-acknowledged already?

Maybe not so much to storm the castle with pitchforks, but, c'mon...They charge us for a service for us. If you're serious, let them know you want a worthy service.

Whether its this recent story, or any of the other thousand slander pieces trying to change or disguise facts during this season. I think the saddest thing I've learned from all this is that modern America abhores competence.

This Patriots season and the masses response to it, doesn't bode well for this country, IMHO. :(

I've never been a subscriber, but I haven't been to the site in weeks and I have now removed the bookmark. The Herald is dead to me.

Let us hope news of this thread reaches the Herald's editors. The would be very rewarding. This board does have that kind of member base and influence.
