It's all smoke n mirrors. It's amazing how some misperceptions can have a life of their own.

It basically is because of the LBs. The only other regulars on the team 30+ are Harrison, Moss and Brady.

The thing is that LBs age in dog years. And they age annually by the day during SB week. Basically the unit average something like 250 years old because of this, so I can see why the analysts are concerned.

Can they take their walkers on the field?

How many times now have we heard the Patriots' opponent was going to exploit the "old and slow" linebackers? These people need to come up with something more original.

I wish i was good enough with a computer to put Seau,Bruschi, and Vrable on Segways, chasing down the Giant running backs.

What's even worse is that they're not even talking about ALL the LBs, just Bruschi and Seau. Thomas and Vrabel are in their primes, Mike is going to the Pro Bowl and got some DPOY votes. And really, Bruschi and Seau aren't nearly as diminished as public perception seems to indicate, and both are still smart and capable of big plays (see Seau's tackle inside the 5 against SD).

It's amazing how these storylines can start with little basis, and just continue to spiral until they're repeated ad nauseum as if they were the most obvious facts in the world.

I think Bruschi is almost done, but Seau looks like he could still play for another 3-4 years at a pretty good clip. That guy is remarkable.

Even more remarkable is that such and old slow guy could tackle Turner the Burner behind the LOS. Hell, Seau tracking down a guy 5 yards in front of him is like Ben Watson's tackle on Champ Bailey.

He truly went into the rejuvenation machine for that play, I don't think I jumped higher or more happily for a single other play during that game.

Count me among those who think Bruschi and Seau will be just fine in the biggest game of their lives.

From the article:

Looking only at starters, the Giants are quite a bit younger than the Patriots at quarterback

Uh oh, old man Brady.. Eli's youth is a massive advantage, right?

Young Eli Manning taking the league by storm is ready to topple the Old Man Brady. Buoyed by a remarkable season in which he led the league in interceptions, the young gunslinger takes on the hobbled old vet, who only managed to muster 50 TD passes in this, likely his last season before moving to Florida with Giselle.

I'm sure Mike Ditka thinks so.

Why do I keep hearing the Giants are young, and the Patriots old?

Because it's quite possible that somebody needs to sling the BS as deep as possible before the game because they feel like they aren't going to win it?
