Only problem is that you are ignoring that Aikman started as a rookie, while Rivers road the pine for 2 years watching his better play. also, Jimmy Johnson was losing all those game on purpose to get the number one pick and was benching his best players (all those great guys he got for Walker) because if none of them started there was a stipulation in the trade that sent Dallas ALL of the Vikings draft picks that following draft!
So numbers do lie, and you obviously don't know crap about the Cowboys or are ignoring it.
Ok then, let's compare their 3rd seasons, since Aikman already was in the league for two years prior his third season should have been just as good if not better than Rivers 3rd season since Rivers didn't get any game experience before then:
Their third season in the NFL:
Troy Aikman:
passing yards: 2754
passing tds: 11
interceptions: 10
completion percentage: 65.3%
rating: 86.7
Philip Rivers:
passing yards: 3388
passing tds: 22
interceptions: 9
completion percentage: 61.7%
rating: 92.0
So, as you can see, Rivers was better in every category except for completion percentage. The Cowboys were a run first team and Aikman was just a game manager.
Also "at this point in there careers" aikman would have been in his 4th year and have a ring and
Phillip Rivers would have had that Craptacular season we all just witnessed, but I will give him respect for how he played in the end of the year.
So again, at same point in career, 1 ring to none.
Peyton Manning didn't win a ring until his 9th year in the NFL, does that mean that Troy Aikman was a better quarterback than Peyton Manning is? Brett Favre didn't win a ring until his 6th season in the NFL, and Elway didn't win a ring until his 14th season in the NFL. Marino never won a ring and he broke practically all of the passing records. The Cowboys won 3 rings because they were the most talented team of their era, not because of 1 guy.
Also, Rivers had good stats this year and while adjusting to a new coaching staff and having to play a tougher schedule than the previous season. Philip Rivers has the same win percentage as Tom Brady, which is almost 80%. Philip Rivers led his team to a 14-2 season in his first year as a starter and the AFC championship in his second year as a starter. Keep in mind that Aikman never had to face as tough a conference as Rivers has to face with the Colts and Patriots being as dominant as they are.
