Given everything this franchise accomplished this season. Given the fact that after 2006, the world was on the "Patriots demise is here bandwagon".
Given the fact that we have the 7th pick in the draft.

My only other questions would include whether or not Vrabel, Bruschi and Seau stay and what do we do with Moss, Stallworth and Samuel.

Your thoughts?

Only if the team went 15-1 in the regular season.

Absolutely not. Are you kidding me? Do you think the Russians celebrate their SILVER or BRONZE medal they won in the Olympics after they got upset by an inferior USA squad? Good lord.

You ask a lot of other questions that I don't want to think about until February 4th, but to your Thread Question, "No, 18--1 for this team would not comprise a successful season. A great season, maybe. But not a successful season.

The only way 18--1 is a successful season is if we went 15--1 in the regular season, like the 85 Bears and 86 Forty Niners.

*yawn* not this topic again...

The goal at the begining of every season is to win the Super Bowl. If you don't win the Super Bowl, then your season was not a success. Simple as that.

An 18-1 season would be a successful season but would be a bitter

disappointment to me. The Pats have a chance to make NFL history

by going 19-0. This would be a record that would stand for many years

if not forever. The Patriots may never be in a position to go 19-0 again

and I'm sure the players realize this.

I honestly think that losing this game would be worse than if the Pats had gone 14-2 in the regular season and lost the SB. I am not worried about the Giants but, as usual, I'm very nervous because this is basically an absolute must win. A loss here would be historically terrible, worse than the Yankees in 2004 :)D ). I just hope, and am pretty confident, that the players don't think like this.

Much much much worse. No question.

Bad is as in we fire the coach and bench the QB? No.

Bad as in goes down as a major chock? Yes.

Bad as in it would take two back to back Superbowl wins in 2009 and 2010 to repair the damage? yes.

If being called "The Best Team Ever to lose the Super Bowl" is considered a success, then yes I guess it's a successful season. Personally I don't want that label on the 2007 Pats.

Regards,
Chris

Patriots 18-1 is a VERY successful season... for the Giants.

Yes, 18-1 is a successful season, but that's not the real question. The real question is, is 18-1, in which the Super Bowl is the game that was lost, a satisfying season?

You must clarify the Super Bowl part, because of course, going 18-1 by losing the Super Bowl is far less satisfying than 18-1 and winning the Super Bowl, aka the 85 Bears.

This whole threat of
"biggest choke ever"
requires folks to first recognize
that this is the best team ever.

************
As far as I am concerned,
this Super Bowl is beyond gravy.

They are remarkable success already.
To finish with a win in 42 is a plot line
you could not sell to Hollywood.

Too unrealistic.

Don't let fear,and jealous hatreds
take away what this team has already done,
and diminish the pleasure of
watching this happen.

That is all they want,to diminish our
enjoyment,to detract from this already
unprecedented accomplishment.

Not happening here.
************

The Best That Has Ever Been.

Within Reach.

Of course 18-1 is a sucessful season, but not with this team. 18-1 means not winning a Super Bowl which is the ultimate goal at the beginning of the year, so no it would not be a sucessful season.
