Bob Kravitz discovers the real Tony Dungy

His dramatic handling of his retirement dilema and contrived announcement to the world reminded me of the ARod dealio during the World Series.

Actually it sounds to me like Kravitz is a weasel.

That whole column can be distilled down to Kravitz saying 'I don't wanna insult him, but Dungy is an a-hole.' If you find it necessary to take a shot at someone, you need to accept the negatives that come with it.

Looks like our favorite self promoting Daddy of the Year phony is actually Hypocrite of the Year! :singing:
'Bout time the media discovered what BB has known all along.
The NFL's Mr. Rogers is a grade A fraud!

Actually, it appears as though Len P. got it right:

As far a Dungy making a spectacle of this entire thing, it is really media driven. Dungy made it be known, at minimum, last year, that he would evaluate his future at each seasons end. Mort from ESPN was, IMO, really the guy that started this entire thing off. And it morphed into something bigger than it really should have been.

No one can judge his decision other than him and his family. If I were Dungy, I'd never speak to that guy again.

It doesn't mean what he wrote is wrong. Dungy preaches "family first" to anyone who'll listen, then does quite the opposite. Normally, people wouldn't look at it as such a big deal, but he already had one kid commit suicide, for crying out loud.

Why can't we judge him? He likes to go around preaching and publicly judging other people. Judge not lest you be judged Tony, you hypocrite!

In yesterday's presser, he said that the Colts aren't just a team, but a ministry. I wanted to punch him.

You have no idea why his kid took his own life. You have no idea how his family feels about his decision. Does his decision to remain as the coach appear on the surface to be a contradiction between talk and action? Yes. Do you have the information necessary to draw that conclusion? No.

I know how I'd react as a father, and it certainly wouldn't be to move even further away from my wife and remaining children.

It's not like they need the money, so the only reason he chose to remain with the Colts is because he wants to, and it's high enough on his priority list to put a greater strain on his family ties. He chose coaching over his family. Period. And that's what makes him a massive hypocrite.

I honestly don't know why people defend that asswhole, because if this were Belichick, people would want to invent a new circle of Hell for him.

That's because Bilecheat is a cheater and not just on the football field. He cheated on his wife and drove his daughter to a lesbian lifestyle. Plus he gave her some bad genes which made her horrible to look at.

Yeah, but Dungy had nothing to do with his son's suicide.

P.S. How does one, especially a hetero male who actually involves his kids with his work (having them participate on the sidelines), "drive" a child to be gay?

I'm just kidding. I figured I would play into your hell and brimstone crucifiction of Bilechick.

So every coach who lives in a different city from his family doesn't believe in "family first" then? I just don't think Dungy is the only coach that lives in a seperate place from his family. With the way coaches move around, I'm sure there are quite a few of them that do.

Other coaches aren't the self-appointed NFL face of the "family first" movement. And other coaches haven't had a son commit suicide, and then moved their family further away from them out of anything but necessity.

That's not the point. Just because Dungy professes his beliefs more than other coaches doesn't mean that other coaches don't believe "family first" as well. I know that Dungy is getting more attention because of his book and beliefs. But if he is a "fraud", then that means every other coach living separately from their kids is a bad parent or doing the wrong thing. All parents should believe "family first" and I'm sure most of them do.

That's precisely the point. He has gone to the pulpit way too many times with his holier than thou antics. Practice what you preach is all Kravitz and everyone else is saying.

Listen to me: his son committed suicide. As a father, I would never forgive myself, and I sure as Hell would do whatever I had to do to make sure it wouldn't happen again.

They don't need the money. He chose his job ("ministry") over his family. That's not an opinion.
