From the start of the game I just felt he wasn't acting like he usually does and this morning Skip Bayliss on ESPN mentioned same thing which prompted me to query the forum. My take was he seemed much more subdued than he normally acts, wasn't standing/pacing or interacting on the sidelines like he usually does.

A "Brady's body language" post! Ah, the memories! :)

After his first pass, I knew he was going to have one of his rare bad days. When Brady is off, the ball seems to sail on him early. Oh well, I'll take that "never had two bad games in a row" streak into the Super Bowl !

and yet he still wins

To me, he looked like a quarterback that was frustrated by a great defense that was disguising its defensive rush packages extremely well. He also looked cold and nicked up after a long season.

The whole team looked tight and business like to me. I think the AFCCG from last year has been weighing on all of them and, whether publicly or not, most of them have largely expected to be back in that position this year.

I think they were tight and when SD punched them in the face it didn't help. But they ground it out.

He looked like Tom Brady playing QB, and not playing quite as well as he normally does but winning anyway.

I overlooked an earlier post 'Is Tom feeling ok' which adressed same topic. Whatever it was there is no doubt he was either mentally?/physically? out of sorts. And YUH.......... body language is real chickareeno.............

After the first couple of throws, I told the people I was watching the game with that Brady would throw 2 INTs.

When Brady is having an off day, his release point is very high... almost like he's long-arming the ball or trying to elevate it over the line. When that happens, his accuracy suffers and his passes sail high. He seemed to fix his mechanical problems in the 2nd half of the game and then he threw that pick in the end zone.

I think that's why people were guessing early in the game that he might have caught whatever flu bug was going through the team. He just didn't seem like his usual fired up self. He didn't even seem pissed, like he sometimes is when he's frustrated.

I had the same thought too. When Brady is going to have a bad day, you can usually tell right away by the accuracy on his first few passes. He was way off yesterday, I don't know what the problem was.

But I guarantee he won't be throwing another 3 INT game in the Superbowl.

Mentioned this in the other thread--this is one time where I think everyone is right, there WAS something off. Either sick, or a case where the agonizing pressure of this season got to him a bit, or, most likely, a little of both.

I would prefer it if we left the guarantee stuff to other teams and their fans.

Yes you're right. You never know what Giant player might read my post and use it as bulletin board material

The deep threat was pretty much not there yesterday. The Chargers deep backs did a terrific job.

In the fourth Brady consumed 9 minutes on that final drive, and he did what Brady does best...he managed his team to a win.

He certainly didn't have the 26 for 28 week he had against the Jags, but he won the game.

Let's all hope next week the Patriots can break out of their win a Super Bowl by a field goal mode. It would be nice to be really relaxed going into the fourth quarter this year. Three Super Bowl wins by a total of 9 points is really cool....but I hope this year is not only another win but a blow-out win.

Let's get Moss and Stallworth into this contest big time.

GO PATRIOTS!!!!

I originslly wasn't gonna post only because i could not watch the game (was on the road and had to listen to it) but after watching some highlights and the trophy presentation on the NFL networks website, i can agree with people who say he looked "off". He didn't seem to have any fire. even the trophy presentation he seemed like he wanted to be in the locker room ASAP. I don't know, but i can def see where everyone is coming from on this.

The thing that was really telling to me is his behavior on the bench. CBS cut over to him a couple of times and he was just sitting there with his head in his hands.... Not the normal Brady who is discussing strategy with the receivers, OL, etc. Something was off. Wouldn't surprise me to learn he's got the flu.

Your signature is getting more and more scary. :D

to me that just shows how good we are. we're playing perhaps the 2nd best team in the league, our star who normally carries us on his back has his worst game of the season, and we still win by more than a td. brady will certainly bounce back in the super bowl and i dont think itll be pretty for the GMEN.

Brady looked very unengaged from beginning to start yesterday. Something was up and we will never know what. Personal maybe? Could be and hear me out....

Exhibit A: Jets last year at home - right at the time of his breakup from Moynahan
Exhibit B: Miami on the Road last year - the weekend he found out he was going to be a Daddy

What do both games have in common? He sucked in both - really sucked and looked about the same in both - unengaged and not at all with it. Looked just as bad yesterday, but due to more talent around him on the offense he was able to still win unlike last year when it was all truly on his shoulders.

Sorry, I love the guy, but he is human. Something might have happened to someone in his family. Gisele was at the game as reported in the Track - so we would think that is cool, but maybe something is going on somewhere else in his life. He did not have the flu -he was fine in the presser afterwards. I also was shocked at his demeanor during the trophy ceremony, he was so bored looking and couldn't wait to get out of there. Something happened. We all know this guy pretty well and there is something going on.

That all being said, SD has a great Defense and they have really gotten to both Brady and Manning this year! 4 ints for Brady in 2 games and 8 ints for Manning in 2 games. Yeah, they are that good. Some of Brady's issues were a result from defense he was facing. I think he was pissed that he couldn't go long for two weeks in a row due to the weather. Their game plan was not executed - a game planned they worked on all week, but overall there is more to his overall performance than just SD's defense it if you ask me.

Brady was acting strangely. He is usually very animated on the sidelines, picking up his teammates and strategizing with his receivers. Yesterday was different. He always sat down right away and never spoke to anyone. I believe he was not feeling well, and the bug that has been going around the locker room is a good guess. I don't think we will hear about it because Brady is not the kind of guy to blame his performance on illness or injury.
