Has Indy been promised a Super Bowl?

Not yet. They almost got the 2011 one that went to Dallas. It took two votes to decide the location and Indy lost the second vote by one. They are currently getting set to make a bid for the 2012 Super Bowl.

So if the colts did ever make it to the superbowl the year they were hosting it...would the location change?? you cant have it in a home stadium of a team.. thats redicilous

You can't change the location of a Super Bowl. It's determind years in advance. There is no way that you could just up and shift everything. Besides there really wouldn't be a whole lot of home field advantage since most of the seat are corporate jobbies. Both teams are giving the same amount of tickets to sell to their seaon ticket holders.

true..i just think it would be stupid though

It's just never happened, but odds are that some day, one team really will be the home team for a superbowl...

Way to keep the thread fun...

If you don't like the politics/politicians - MOVE!
It is really that simple.
A newbie with an attitude. Is there anything more pathetic?

The "home team" is effectively determined by whose fans buy the most tickets. Philly fans outnumbered Pats fans at least 10-1 in Jax. Philly fans hadn't seen their team in a SB in about 25 years, and were willing to mortgage their house for tickets. Pats fans weren't. Cripes, they can't be doing this every other year!

If the Packers and Pats meet in the SB, look for about 20-1 Packer fans.

Could be the same with the Giants. Boston has money. NYC has a lot more money.

I don't think I had an attitude. I was just trying to keep the thread fun - which is what I thought the original poster was trying to do with his thread - Have Fun with the Lucas Oil Stadium name.

And just because I am a newb, doesn't mean I can/can not have an opinion on something. I am a long time lurker and you seem to forget, everyone here was a newb once, including you!

Gillette is called the Razor, should we call this place "the rig"

This is genius. I vote we formally adopt this as our name for LOS. "The Rig."

Good thinking here. Appropriate for the Indianapolis Competition Commi... I mean the Indianapolis Colts.

A product that is only bought by race cars buying the naming rights to something in Indy. Who would have seen that coming.

Only by race cars????

Uhmmm... no, you are wrong on that.

We buy a bunch of it for our trucks.

Lucas Oil is headquartered in Cali. fwiw...

It looks a bit like an Airship, or Blimp Hanger

Here is a link to some pics one of the construction guys took for inside the stadium. The place is going to be pretty impressive.

Lucas pics

The place looks either like a barn or a hanger. What a waste of taxpayer dollars. But, if you hicks like it, go at it.

workhorse...

Are they gonna screw you guys on the ticket prices like the Cowboys and possibly the Jets will do? i.e. $10,000+ for the cheapest PSLs.

As long as it's nice on the inside is all that matters.

Keep making fun....

The fact that Indy has built this beautiful retractable roof stadium likely means they'll get to host a Super Bowl in the near future. They've already got the Final Four in 2010.
Maybe the NFL and its advertisers could grow a set and hold a Super Bowl in an open stadium in the north and watch football being played the way that it is supposed to be played. Lest anyone forget, organized football started in the north. It is rediculous to only hold games in domes or warm weather sites.

Nope. No seat licenses. They are even allowing current season ticket holders to ask for additional seats. Most of the ticket prices are pretty similar, I think they have even added some cheaper priced seats. They have done a pretty good job of trying to keep your seats in the same general location. Though they did add more luxury seats in the lower level that pushed some people into or around the endzone.

I don't think that will ever happen. The money people would never want a Super Bowl to be outside in conditions like today's games.
