Colts fans did get the opportunity to boo 14-year-old Anna Grant, the Grantham, NH native who was announced as the NFL's Punt, Pass, and Kick competition winner yesterday in Indianapolis wearing a Patriots jersey.

Following the Saturday night Patriots victory over Jacksonville, WBZ-TV sports reporter Dan Roche was on assignment at Jillians sports bar in Indianapolis. The Colts fans were disappointed upon witnessing the Patriots victory. When asked if the Colts can beat New England, one female patron replied in the affirmative.

“Just because, I think the Colts, as far as class goes, they’ve got more class than the Patriots do.”

Eyes are rolling in my household, so let's move on.

Baffling, says me. The Chargers came into the RCA Dome and won despite every conceivable factor going the Colts' way. For one thing this has been billed as the last game in the RCA Dome, which is scheduled to be replaced next year by a new facility, and Colts fans were ready. They were ear-achingly loud, and then some. The scoreboard urged the crowd of 56,950 to "make it personal," and they responded by booing a 14-year-girl at halftime because the girl -- a national Punt, Pass and Kick champion from New Hampshire -- was wearing a New England Patriots jersey.

BTW, Anna deserves some props. She handled herself with poise during the whole situation. It can't be easy to get booed by 70K people especially when all you did was win some football skills competition.

Have you ever met a 14/15 year old girl? They are the most fragile of anyone. Most of them are extremely insecure and trying to figure out who they are. This is the same segment of our population that struggles most with anorexia/bulimia because they focus so much on perception.

Kudos to her for handling it the way she did, but don't think for a second it didn't bother her. Teenage psyches are the most fragile of all.
