Blow Out coming???

Why do fans insist on doing this? Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't a running back trying to go the distance everytime they get the ball? Fans act like they are trying to eek out 4 yards a carry and get lucky on every long run. Long runs happen you cannot discount them.

We were discussing the predicative value of his last game versus NE. Fluke plays offer little of predicative value. I'm totally fine with Jags fans reminding me how awesome that play was, linking to a clip of it, or telling me how Jones-Drew will not give up on any play. I just don't approve of factoring that play into a prediction of how NE's defense will fare against him.

I like Brady. But honestly I 'd rather have Garrard (Ga-rard like you sayin Go)

The reason why is obvious. Mobility. What I wish we had, is your O-line and Recieving core. However establishing ourselves as the 2nd best two back team in the League has made for an exciting year for us fans. Imagine how many rushing yards we would've racked up if our passing game sucked!

Aw man, did you have to kill this thread? Expect 5 pages of people telling you how stupid you are.

Brady just had the greatest season by a quarterback ever. Even Dolphins, Bills, and Jets fans have stopped saying that Brady is just a system guy and their QB is better. Feel free to like your guy, but don't be silly.

Is this homer prediction or are you serius?
Question, something about 1st 8 games and last 8 games %, is that the weight you give? do you know that people handicapping games usually look at only the last few games like 5 or so? at least it seems to me that you realize that the Jags look better if you compare the Pats and Jags for recent games only. I am sure you know our victory is 35.2-16.2 for 5 games (drop the Houston throw away game). You know what for the Pats too right?

you said if it would be tight game is you put more weight on the last 8 games only, how tight is it?

No not homer. We treat all teams the same. Nothing special about Pats or Jags. I posted here because I'm Pats fan and just for fun. (our team doing this model includes non-Pats fans).

About taking only the last 5 games... yeah, but we disagree. We do count recent games more than older games, but our approach is gradual.

Yes, I know your 35.2-16.2 average, all data are in there... and yes, if you count recent games a lot more, it'll be like 5 pts for the Pats. Since ~ 2.2 pt is for home field, it means Pats-Jags are less than a FG difference, if that makes you feel better.

This does NOT predict blow out or anything if it bothers you. All it says is the probability, and it may not be right for one game, but we've got it good over many games.. In fact, I've got to thank the Jags for covering the Colts game as predicted by the model... and helped line our pocket:D

Jags has 21% chance or more to win. That's decent chance FWIW.
BTW, I am sure that if the season had started only the last 6 games, Pats fans would not have been that confident ;)

Our WR Core, although "no named" is solid and effective for a "Run first Pass Second" Offense. Reggie Williams has turned into a solid receiver, that is the same height and build of Randy Moss (both are 6'4 and weigh in around 210). *raises hand* NOW I am NOT saying the Reggie Williams is as talented as Randy Moss, but what I am saying is He's turning into our Number one reciever.
For a player selected in the first round of the 2004 NFL Draft (ninth overall), Reggie Williams is closer to a bust than a solid receiver. With only one season over 48 receptions is quite pathetic for a wide receiver selected in the first half of the first round.

You PATS fans are some of the greatest, and everyone envies your Dynasty's success. But as with everything great, theres a signifigant peak and drop. Your drop may have arrived.
Completely clueless!

The Patriots are at their peak or is a 16-0 regular season record completely meaningless to an imbecile like yourself.

I lurked your board for awhile and while every fans base has its share of homers, I've got to hand it to you guys. First, I'm not a Pats hater, in fact I have admiration for your team accomplishment. But many of you really let it to your head and damn arrogant... this thread is typical.

Blow out? you haven't watched much this Jaguars team... No body have blown us out and that included the Colts whose offense may be just a bit less than the Patriots (debatable). The only team put 41 on us was the Saints and that was an offgame for us. like the Giants put 35 on you.

NE 42-10? what a joke friend, put your money on it if you believe...

too bad this thread becomes smack instead of serious discussion and you started name calling on any Jaguars fans... Let's me say this, be prepared to be on the edge of your seat. You have more to lose than us, how far we go will be icing, but 16-1 won't look good.

Now I see your earlier post and where you came from... it may be semantics with "blow out", which may mean winning by 10 to some and 20 to others. Why don't you take 13.5 points? it's a bargain.

I honestly think a whooping was going to happen no matter what was said by the jags. The patriots see the light at the end of the tunnel, there is nothing going to stop the rematch next week against the Colts and probably the rematch in SB XLII with the Cowboys.

After seeing what 65,000- 70,000 votes on NFL.com for the Jags to win absofreakinlutley reinforces my feelings of a BLOW-OUT!
We are now back to "underdog status" ( how can this be if we are still favored by 13.5?) Anyone think that poll is up in the locker room? You BET it is! Bring on DA NOISE!!:rocker:

Jeez, for a 16-0 team some of you guys really search for bulletin board material. I'm sure BB is going to use an ESPN poll to hype up the team. It's unbelievable how insecure some of you guys are.

It's not insecurity at all, it's fact. You don't know this team, we do. Whether or not you believe it, or find it silly, every time these guys are slighted, it results in NOTHING good for the opposition. There is a very long list of people who came to regret every saying anything other than "The Patriots are great".

You don't know these guys, trust me, everyone calling them soft is very, very bad for your team.

D, every team does it. After the year we had with naysayers, idiot talking heads, celeb morons and general disrespect has come to a head. This is a very determined team with deep pride. This stupid crap just motivates the guys even more. Any way you look at it, a historic year is in the making in the NFL.

No doubt, and if I came off sounding holier than though, it wasn't my intention. Iy just seemed to me that many people are looking for bait from the jags or anywhere they can find it. Bringing up Spicer's comments from 4 months ago was rediculous for the media to do, but of course they wanted to make it seem like the jags were "smack talking." You guys should be extremely proud of your team's accomplishments this year, it just seems amazing that many of the fans feel disrespected especially to a Jacksonville Jaguars fan (we have internet, most of us don't live in trailers, it's a wonderful town if you visit despite what many think) who gets bashed by the media every chance we get-anyone read the paper when we had the superbowl? That being said, I can't wait for Saturday.

We do look for bait, because we know what it does. The media has reported several times how the Pats can take the smallest slight and make it huge. Yet it never fails, week in and week out, some dunce runs his mouth. Spicer may have said it months ago, but he still said it. And he wins the weekly dunce award. Look for him to be made an example of.

The "slighted" thing just ain't cutting it anymore. Brady won MVP, BB is coach of the year, and everyone, save for a notable few, are talking about the Patriots as the greatest team of all time.

An online poll has many fans picking the Jags - shocker! It should come as no surprise that people, in general, root for the underdog, and hate to see another team achieve so much success over such a long period. You would absolutely be the same if it was another team enjoying this kind of success, and pick the team against them.

"Slighted"....ha!

You would think, wouldn't you. And no, I wouldn't pick an underdog against this team even if I wasn't a Pats fan. A lot of people are picking the Chargers too, not me. I hate the Colts, but I'm also not blind.

Take out the Jags playing the Colts, division rivals always play well against each other. If you base the Jags games against the Steelers (common opponent) I just don't see where all this talk is coming from that the Jags will win. If Tomlin wasn't a bonehead we wouldn't be having this discussion because they would have lost. And the 1st game was very close and they again, let the Steelers come back.

Brady put on a clinic against the Steelers. The Jags can't seem to keep up pace through the whole game. Am I really supposed to believe a team that keeps letting teams back into games is going to suceed against a team with Tom Brady leading a final drive?

That's not it, though. The very few people who I have heard who have actually "picked" the Jags acknowledge that the Jags will have to play a nearly flawless game, as well as run the ball better than they have all year, to even have a chance. There is no question the Jags CAN win, but the probability on it is extremely low. They do no match up with New England at all talent-wise, and would have to win the turnover battle, commit almost no penalties and make very few, if any, mistakes to just have a prayer.

What you need to understand is that those polls represent who people are rooting for, not necessarily who they think will win, even though that's the question. How can you say you wouldn't root for the underdog if you weren't a Pats fan? Do you always root for the favorite? I don't. In games where my team doesn't have a stake, I almost always full for the underdog, because it's more interesting.

Who cares if the Pats blow out a team that they're supposed to blow out? People would rather see one of the biggest playoff upsets of all time.

No, you didn't come off sounding like that at all. I respect your opinion and you are entitled to it. Lets face it. We are all football fans or we would't be here right? LOL. I know you have internet down there and yes, you are right about Jacksonville being a great place. If I ever move there though, I will still be Pats Fan. I can't wait for Saturday either. I'm having severe withdrawl symtoms. I'm starting to forget what a football looks like:D No matter what happens, I'm secure in saying it will be an awesum game!

Oh I understand, and completely agree with you. My point was that even after this incredible season and all the accolades, this team will still flourish on slights. Foolish or not, they will. We've seen it too many times.

Nice talking to you.

Im with Keegs on this one,I do not want to sweat it out.Three blowouts would be ok in my book, and I would enjoy them very nicely..
