Quarterback situation

Drew Bledsoe could still be playing today if he wanted to. Unless Tom gets a major injury he'll be playing for a long time. Same as Peyton.

The only thing that I think would make Tom leave early is if he decided to go into politics one year. I think that is his eventual goal anyways but I can see him playing as long as Farve.

Even on gimpy legs Marino still had pocket mobility late into his career and that is the most important aspect of Tom's game that would diminish in age.

way to live in denial

he'll be 31 next season

I don't think drafting someone soon to begin developing them would be a bad move
if the franchise become unable to move on when brady starts to decline, it will decline along with him

How old are you....15? Brady is irreplaceable, besides there are real concerns in other positions that need to be addressed and it's not like Brady was a planned replacement for Bledsoe, he was definitely a gift from above!

Tom stated during this pre-season that he wants to play as long as possible and even compared the length to Vinny T’s career.

Tom Brady loves the game of football. More than politics, super models or Hollywood. He will play as long as he's able to.

Brady is 30. He only has a couple more years of play on the same level.

That's funny, I think Tom has other ideas.

I expect Tom to be BETTER at age 36 than he is today. He constantly improves his game year 'round, and he is very fit, and very durable, and extremely smart in the pocket. If you think he's after only 4-5 rings, wrong.

A 40 year old Tom Brady would be better than half the QBs in the league.

Are you for real?

I'm not sure what the person posting this thread expects the patriots to do? Draft a quarterback in the first round? Are we going to pay a 1st rd pick to sit on the bench for 5 years? first of all thats a waste of money and i doubt the pick would be too thrilled about that....we have cassell and guturiez around and continue to develop them and they are there for insurance...which is about the only thing we can do at this point seeing we have the best qb in the league who is no where near the end of his career...we can't have the best of both worlds..we already have the best qb in the league and maybe of this generation so were not going to have some young, eager up and coming quarterback who is just going to sit around 5 years and then be a stud..that is living in a fantasy world

BB is already ahead of you. Cassel is starting next year.

No, no, Guttierez will be our opening day QB in 08.

I'm assuming the entire thread has been full of "what kinda numnutz are ya?" comments, so I'll just say :yeahthat:

Although your point is germane in terms of a kid going into his junior year of high school next year. Maybe. I'm pretty sure once he's in college, the scouting staff will be watching for him.

why would yous say "he'll be 31 next season"? It's this year, so that make as much sense as saying "he'll be 33 in 2 years".

Do you even think logically?

OK I'm sorry, you guys are right.

Tom will be winning 2 superbowls per year in his late 30s, and the patriots will never need to replace him.

Wow, 6 posts and you get the monumental doosh of the week award. Congrats.

What's next? Who's coaching after BB?

I do remember a story coming out shortly after the draft which said the Pats were very interested in Kevin Kolb. Who knows if that was true though.

QBs like Marino, Elway ect say thrat longer they played more they learned the better they played. Can you imagine what Tom Brady will do once he learns how to play this game!

look at the niners. they went through two great qbs in a decade. you never know what will happen. i am sure that bill and scott are doing what they believe is best for the issue, and as such, i believe that everything will be fine. in bioli i trust.

what a ridiculous thread.... we should bring back the BB to the Giants speculation while we're at it.... let's start planning for BB replacement.

Some people just don't know how to enjoy the moment!

Excuse me but Brady is just now entering his Prime....are you a football fan or do you just like to read what you think are intelligent questions.

Vinny played until he was 40 something and Farve is still playing at what 38 or 39 and led his team to the NFLCG.

Brady like Vinny is a gym rat and will keep his body in top physical shape so there is no reason to think he will not be around for another 4 or 5 SB contests, hell he may even be around long enough to lose one.
