Its so funny how badly they want to make the Jaguars into a juggernaut.

The weird thing is that it seems that everyone wants to "see history made" by having the patriots go down. Isn't it history to see them go 19-0?

Oh, and its just an observation, not something that bothers me before I get a bunch of "who cares what the media thinks" and "why do you let this stuff get to you" posts.

the jags will be easy. pitt won that game, but their coaches blew it by calling a freakin quarterback run on third and seven. we will kill either team.

Pats will have to play their best game however, I saw a flawed team out there last night

1. coaching - stupid challenges, strange playcalling (3 straight passes in the 4th Qtr when they were up 11)

2. WR - there big but not productive

3. Defense - they got tired in the second half and couldn't mount a pass rush. Running the ball against them plays right into their hands

4. everything they do on offense is based off the running game. Garrad is at his best off the play fake. That being said its as good a running game the pats have faced since LT in last lears playoffs.

if the pats won the same way it would be a sloppy game, the defense had lots of problems, they almost lost to a team that had a lot of injuries,da dada da samr old bullsh t

What an incredible load of horsemanure. The Jags folded like an accordion.

Their quarterback ran a keeper on fourth down or they succeed in giving this away.

You gotta sell tickets, though (and tv ratings).

I thought the Jags were lucky to get out of Pittsburgh and almost had the worst fourth quarter choke job in playoff history. They played great at times, but I thought they had too much up and down play. I also think they don't have an answer for the Pats' spread offense.

You can't just blitz Brady all day and leave one-on-one match ups for his receivers. Many teams have tried and Brady usually picks them apart. I don't see Brady throwing an INT to a d-lineman either.

"Battle" - tested or simply "Steeler"-tested? Do the Jags have any other wins to hang their hats on besides Pittsburgh?

Ben left them little choice. They lost their nerve in the face of him potentially throwing it away late, too.

As for Jacksonville, Garrard is a substantial improvement over baby Huey. That said, he's a game manager. They key to this game will be limiting the run and scoring. If we get up on them early the run game won't be able to make up enough ground.

Pittsburgh had a scatter armed QB, no capacity to run and horrendous ST play and still almost ground it out.

Garrard pushed coach Jack Del Rio to call that quarterback draw on fourth-and-2 from the Steelers' 43. He knew no defender was going to stop a 6-foot-1, 245-pound QB from getting 2 yards

Of course it helps that Pittsburgh's James Harrison was held on that play.

Garrard's "play of the game" has been replayed so many times, and the hold is so blatantly obvious (from the end zone cam), it's uncanny that no pundit has commented on it yet.

Player's get away with holding all the time; but if you take away that one play, Garrard finishes the game 9 for 21, 140 yards passing, 1 td, 2 ints, with 26 yards rushing.....not what most would consider numbers of a quarterback for a team "nobody wants to face in the playoffs."

BTW - Jags were up 28-10, then the Steelers went to a no-huddle, all pass offense and were right back in the game. Hmmmm?

Hmmm.... I seem to have found several articles about how Jacksonville was lucky to have escaped with a win. Several things to consider with this team:

-Big Ben is one of probably the 3 best QB's in the League (with Brady and Manning being the others) when it comes down to crunch time. When he's bad, he's terrible, but when he's behind and on his game, he is magnificent. You saw that last night.

-The Pats struggles twice against teams that played the way the Jags normally play. It's a statiscal anomaly, no reason on paper as to why they struggled, but they came from behind to win when the chips were down. Does that take anything away from the 16-0? The answer, of course, is no.

-The Steelers are a postseason-proven team. Jacksonville was not. Heinz isn't an easy place to play. It wouldn't be wise to try to minimize a win there in the postseason.

Yes, the Jags have weaknesses... when they stop the run with 4 and drop 7 into coverage they are very vulnerable underneath. And if you manage to shut down the run, then you've got a shot to take it to them in the secondary.

Bottom line: if the same team that played the Steelers in the 1st half last night shows up in Gillette, it's going to be one heck of a ball game.

that 4th down run by garrard really masked some of the poor playcalling by the steelers on the goaline and the time management by the jags.i didnt see the game but following it here on the gameday thread seemed like both teams tried to lose.

Sorry if the Jags play like they did in the first half it will be a blow for the Pats big time. The Jags had no real drives until the 3rd quarter and at no point did they really ever dominate the Steelers. I don't think that fluke plays are go in to get it done against the Pats.

the jags are nice and one-dimensional. we just need to stop the run and get a lead on them. they don't have the capability to play catch-up if down by two scores. at least the Steelers could score in a hurry, but Jac is done for if they need to start throwing the ball around. we all saw some of Garrard's poor decisions. What's more, that defense is not what it was the past couple of seasons. It's still above average, but after losing some players they haven't been as stingy. Statistically, they are ranked as an average team against the pass. I know those stats require some interpretation, but it's still a telling figure.

LOL @ the Baby Huey reference!! Garrard's no small man either. Dude looks liks a Weeble to me when he takes off running. IMO, Jax will have to seriously raise their game if they are going to have ANY chance next weekend against us (assuming a SD win that is). Can you say paper tigers? Yes they are big and physical but PIT did kind of uncover a blueprint for handling them. It's the hurry up offense. PIT did NOTHING in the first half but when they went down 18 and went hurry up they slowed doen that passs rush considerably and wore that defense down. This, as much as anything, allowed the Roethlisberger's the chance to make a game of it. I see NE coming out in the spread, hurry up offense and go up big forcing JAX out of their strength and make Garrard beat us with his arm. Not a chance in hell of that happening.

If that same Jag team shows up next week in NE, they don't have a chance. Not very good at all. Steelers played like 15 minutes of that game and the Jags still needed a hold to spring Garrard free for that winning FG.

You also realize what BB and Brady's record in the playoff after a first week bye. 6-0. After watching last night's game, I welcome the Jags.

I watched this game in Colombia, South America while on vacation and to be honest, I am not one bit nervous to play the Jags. Jags opening kickoff went 96 yards. They intercepted Ben for a TD. They had one good passing drive. Not to mention 3 INT total. Thats how they scored. Once we score first and often, the Jags will have to play catch up all night. If you look at the stats, the Jags had a measly 239 total yards on offense and only 140 via passing. You think thats going to be enough to match score for score??? Pitt scored 28 points and they looked awful until the middle of the 3rd qtr. I hope we play the Jags, I dont mind seeing another blow out....and that is what it will be.
