Brady vs Manning Debate to end this year?

you guys are arguing with someone who has a Denver Nuggets username and avatar...on a FOOTBALL messageboard...

After last season, most of the talking heads said the debate was over and Manning clearly is the better QB. Now, the pedulum has shifted to Brady being the better QB now that he is set to break Manning's record and go 19-0. I am sure at some point in the future, the sentiment will swing back to Manning.

The fact of the matter, both Brady and Manning are two of the best of all time and there isn't a heck of a lot separating them. More likely than not, this debate will go beyond their playing years.

Troll? Not really, I have better things to do than fool around for amusement. Peyton>Brady and you and I know it. Brady is only good because he plays under Bill, want to disagree?

I disagree. Tom Brady is hands down, 100%, for sure better than payton manning.

I agree. You are 100% correct. BB's system always produces record-setting QBs. His 11-5 1994 Cleveland team was led by arguably the greatest single-season QB effort in league history (well, behind each and every one of Peyton's 9 seasons) as Vinny Testaverde shocked the football world, throwing for an unprecedented 16 TD passes against only 18 interceptions! Vinny completed an astounding 55.1% of his passes that year, for an earth shattering 2575 yards! Testaverde produced an astronomical 70.7 rating to cap off his dream season.

Since the QB of BB's best non-Pats team set the world on fire with his numbers, your point should be accepted as fact. The numbers don't lie. SYSTEM QB!

You think that's good, check out BB working with some real talent: Drew Bledsoe!

58.8% comp rate
3,291 yards
18 TDs with only 13 ints
77.3 passer rating

WHy are we even discussing Brady's greatness again?

tom is the best QB.

Manning is backed by many 'talented' guys and he still doesn't throw the ball as good as Tom. Tom is backed by Moss and he throws the ball better than Manning.

colts has a lot of star players while Pats only has a few. There is really no comparison.

Looks like we need some more "Troll Away" spray! Damn bugs!

So, if someone disagrees with you they're a troll? There's some logic.

I dont understand why everyone has to debate Manning vs. Brady so much.

I'm a Colts fan, give me manning over brady. You all would take Brady over manning... Its a moot point... thats not going to change.

Both guys are going to go down as possibly the 2 best to ever play the game. No point in trying to seperate which one is better, IMO.

And I find it interesting how all of you rip on manning for being in commercials when Brady is on the front of fashion magazines.

The debate will never end. Both are great QBs.

I agree. They are both great QBs. Each has talents/skills/assets/records that are impressive. I happen to like Brady better but I can be very respectful of Manning.

I know most Colts fans feel the same way even if they dont admit it. We may "hate" Brady... Thats simply because he is a great QB on our arch rivals team. If Manning were to (knock on wood) suffer a career ending injury... We would take Brady in a split second. If both of these guys continue to stay injury free, theres no reason they wont be top 5 all time when their careers are over.

When their careers are done, I fully believe Tom will have more Super Bowls than Manning and that will establish him as the best. Does anyone outside of the Miami area ever say Marino was better than Montana? Not a chance. Montana rose to challenges, Marino choked. Much like Brady and Manning.

Brady being on magazines is not a fair comparison to Manning being in our face every damn 10 mins. You walk by magazines, the commercials are as in your face as you can get.

And if you want to discuss unfair comparisons by fans, why do Indy fans always want to throw out Brady had a baby when Marvin did the same thing and it is never mentioned?

And Favre pehaps would have been the best, if his front office signed up Thomas, Moss, and Welker. And Greise is second best? No, this one season will not change minds outside of New England.

And what if Thomas and Moss had gone to Indy and Indy had stayed healthy and won it all, and it was Indy that had the great year. Would Manning now be the best?

Being the best quarterback is about much more than a year. Like it or not, Brady has a long way to go to be the consensus "best". On the other hand the patriots as a TEAM are close to becoming a consensus best of all time franchise. Many argue that this has already been accomplished, ignoring the fact that we didn't win the SB in the last two years. The record books do not have a 2006 asterisk that give us the victory, expect for the flu. I do indeed believe that the 2003 and 2004 patriots were among the best ever, and that the 2000-2009 patriots will be arguably the very best ever.

I agree. Lets face it, having both Peyton and Brady in the NFL has made for some extremely entertaining football. You may love to hate one or both of them, but the NFL has benefitted greatly from having them both in the game. They are both amazing, hard working, and smart football players. Personally, I feel Tom is better, buy hey I'm a Patriots fan.

1) Brady has a better career QB rating in domes, and has a better career QB rating in outdoor stadiums. Granted Manning has a better overall QB rating, but he rarely has to deal with New England weather during the winter and plays more than half his games in a dome.
2) Brady has had some good receivers over the years, but nothing compared with Manning. Here's every receiver they've thrown to who's had over 1,000 yards, per season:

Manning - (06) Harrison, Wayne; (05) Wayne, Harrison; (04) Wayne, Harrison, Stokley; (03) Harrison; (02) Harrison
Brady - (06) -none-, (05) -none-; (04) -none-; (03) -none-; (02) -none-

Not a single 1,000 yard receiver in 5 complete seasons while Manning had a total of NINE 1,000 yard receivers in those same years.

So let me get this straight: Brady has a better career rating in domes, a better career rating in outdoor stadiums, and yet he hasn't had anything near the quality of receivers that Manning has had? Plus he's come up huge in almost every big game he's every participated in while Manning has wilted under the pressure of the players year in and year out (and don't kid yourselves...he was TERRIBLE in the playoffs last year, the defense carried him to the AFCCG)?

Yeah, I have my answer. Read up on Cold, Hard, Football Facts, they've poured over these numbers and come to the same conclusion: Brady is, quite simply, the better of the two quarterbacks in every regard.

It will never end as long as people keep talking about it. And it will probably not end until both retire.

So, until then I think fans of both should just sit back and enjoy it and not take it so personally. It's fun. And it's something to talk about and it makes the two teams playing each other that much more exciting when it happens.

What, you think posts are supposed to make sense?

LOL, Is there another type of venue I'm not aware of that is bringing up Mannings overall rating? :)

And Brady has never won games because of the performance of our defense and special teams? The colts defense carried Manning last year. Now that is truly funny. Until Bob Sanders came back late in the year, the colts defense was among the very worst in football.

If you look at the record of Brady and Manning in the past few years, you will see that Brady improves his every year while manning's one does not reflect it. The reason Manning's record does not reflect this year is his team mate injury. What does it tell you about Manning's record.? If he doesn't have his star team mates, his record is not that great compared to Tom's.

Brady undoubtly is getting better and performs well without star team mates. Brady is the best QB because of his consistent and persistent performance.

Obviously Colts fans love and appreciate Manning and would not want another QB. And Pats fans feel the same way about Brady.

Both teams should just enjoy what they have and we are very lucky. Who knows who the next QB after these guys will be on either team and if they will be worth a damn.
