That must be what playing the Jets and Dolphins defenses can do for you. Maroney gets a few holes and is good in open space and can make a nice big play that makes Pats go ohhh and ahhhh.

Anyone who would take Maroney over Addai is an idiot, or a Pats fan. Maroney is Reggie Bush. Dances at the line and is afraid to pound the ball but when he gets open space against a crappy defense he can break off for one of those long runs that make people giddy.

Addai in case people did not remember had some big playoff success last season. Is that not what Pats fans are high on? Playoff success? The kid came up big when it mattered. And he also could have been Super Bowl MVP with his running and receptions.

Addai has been a workhorse this year. And he has played through injuries. A tough runner and a pro bowler now too. He can run, catch and block. Whatever you ask him to do. And he is not afraid to pound the ball for tough yards. Addai got back on track with his running Sunday. He has 15 TDs this season overall. Many of his problems were the 0-line being battered and bruised for the second half of the season as well.

I have nothing against Addai, but don't you think the timing is a little bad to be singing his praises? It seems to me that Maroney did much better against the Ravens than Joseph did, and Laurence ran in a game where the conditions were bad for passing. Addai certainly didn't do very well against Oakland which is every bit as bad as NY or Miami at stopping the run.

BTW, the whole Maroney dances garbage is sooooooo 10 weeks ago.

Well Addai had 3 TDs against the Ravens. I am not sure that is not good. That game was over 5 minutes into the game.

Oakland was a bad game for our offense. I was suprised we had trouble but the 0-line called each other out after that game and we saw a huge improvement against Houston. Saturday basically flat out said the line needed to do a better job and they were sucking. I think Oakland played an awesome game. Will give them credit. Every team plays us tough.

Blame the line, not Addai. For many games this season the 0-line has been terrible. I am just happy Manning and Addai have not gotten killed with the way the pass blocking and run blocking was for several weeks. Looks to be fixed now, thank God.

The timing is never bad. It's only the regular season. I know Addai will be a huge factor for us again in the playoffs. I have been pleased with him since he made his first start.

FWIW, the same can be said for the Pats OL in terms of run-blocking this season.

So we can blame the line any of Addai's failings, but when Maroney "dances" around an unblocked blitzer or a DL who penetrates into the backfield it is Maroney's fault?

I find no fault in thinking that Addai has proven more than Maroney I just question the logic.

I don't think any of us denies that overall Addai has been a pleasant surprise for Indy and Maroney has been a bit of a disappointment in New England. However, I think those of us who have clamored for the "bust" talk to slow down and be patient are seeming a bit vindicated at this point.

Also, LoMar still has a lot to prove, but the "dancing" myth needs to die a fast, painful death - it's horsecrap conventional wisdom that doesn't hold water.

18 carries per game says NO.

Come playoff time that load will be increased I would think. Addai has seen a decrease in carries since the Baltimore game. He has been banged up a little and Kenton Keith has been getting much more time in as well as Dawson lately.

For many games early in the season Addai carried the ball way too many times I felt and I was worried he would wear down and he did!! I did not want to go back to a one back system but it appeared we did.

But, like I said. The 0-line for the stretch from the end of the Pats game to the end of the Oakland game was horrible. Hopefully they keep playing like they did on Sunday. I have feared for Manning's health way too many times this season.

Or, maybe I am wrong and Addai just got banged up and tired.:bricks:

Addai was a workhorse, but he has been a mediocre RB the last month and a half. I have questions about Addai's durability over a 16 game season. He seems to get a minor injury that takes him out of the game for a series or two every game.

I'm sorry, but Addai got into the Pro Bowl because of a fast start. Personally, he isn't a RB I would say I must have over Maroney. There are at least a half dozen RBs I would take over him including LT, Adrian Peterson, Marion Barber, Willie Parker, Clinton Portis, Brian Westbrook, and a few others. Yes, he has had a better career so far than Maroney, but I don't see him as one of the top RBs in the league.

Facts from this season:

Maroney has played two fewer games than Addai

Maroney is averaging 4.8 ypc to Addai's 4.1 ypc

Maroney and Addai faced only two common opponents this season, San Diego and Baltimore

Addai averaged 2.5 ypc vs. San Diego, Maroney averaged 5.1 ypc
Addai averaged 2.5 ypc vs. Baltimore, Maroney averaged 3.4 ypc

Maroney has averaged under 3 ypc 1 time this season
Addai has averaged under 3 ypc 3 times this season

Now, you're entitled to your opinion that Addai is the better player, but the argument that anyone who would take Maroney over Addai is an idiot is not only inaccurate, it's silly. Maroney has been the better runner this season, and he's two years younger. Addai is a better blocker and is more fully integrated into his team's offense, but players like James, Mungro and Rhodes have all seemed to be a lot better running for the Colts than for subsequent teams, so the notion of Addai being overrated because of the system he's in is certainly not farfetched.

Colt trolls are sub-mongoloids

And I see that Addai has forty catches for 300+ yards and Maroney has 4 for 116. Does that mean that Addai is a better reciever out of the backfield or is it that the Pats don't utilize Maroney in the passing game and if given the chance could put up the same numbers.

This is a great stat IMHO......Maroney needs to be getting the ball MORE in short passes out of the backfield.....He is so explosive in that setup as well.....and the Gints would not be looking much for that.........Hope Josh is listening....;)

Well, Addai doesnt have Kevin Faulk on his team. As I said at the time, if Addai were here instead of Maroney, we would use him just as we are using Maroney, and it Maroney were in Indy, they would be using him just as they are using Addai.
Given the fact that I've seen at least 3/4s of Addais receptions and they are all within 2-3 yards downfield, I dont see anything special in his receiving skills, however, Maroney has not been used in that role, so there is no way of knowing how effective he would be.

I think that you are right Andy in many ways, however I do not see that the two backs are interchangeable.......Addai has hit the hole much quicker than LoMo has......Maroney has been more of a dancer at the LOS as we all know.....Addai also has shown alot more "moves" than I thought he had as he seemed to be more of a north->south RB at LSU.......I DO think that Maroney has been showing alot more deciveness the MORE REPS he has been given.....and he always runs HARD.........I love the kid's fire and spirit!!!! He is a PATRIOT!!!!

GO PATS!!!!

On one of Brady's sacks yesterday Maroney was completely uncovered at the 5 yard mark (would have gone for 15 easy) but Brady sat in the pocket looking downfield for 6-7 seconds.

I have to think that they are purposely ignoring the guy for some schematic reason.

Well.....not exactly....It isn't that he isn't in their schemes.....it is MORE that TB has been LOOKING for Randy Moss....almost exclusively the past few games.......I look for that to CHANGE this weekend.....I see HEAVY coverage on Moss and the Gints expecting Brady to try to get it to him.......and Brady will be going to Welker.....Gaffney......not sure about Stallworth as he has kind of fallen off the radar (don't see him here next year).........and hopefully......to LoMo more!!!!! I still see Moss getting one TD though......just don't see him hitting the record though....

IMO,
1.) Maroney is a good RB.
2.) Addai is a good RB.
3.) Both the Pats and the Colts are happy with their starting RB even if some of their fans are not.

Some colt fans are unhappy with Addai.....you have to be kidding me.......haven't heard that one...
