I can see where it's a pain in the ***** on the message board because of constant reloads but in the chat room it ain't no big deal.
I think it's kind of funny the way some people lose their sh!t.:p
Again I say, in the chat room.

I can see how it would work in the chatroom. Thanks for the headsup. Maybe I'll lurk there for the NYG game.

Fabulous!!!

I hope you get support from your other homers. Ask one of your homer moderators to make it a sticky.

Now finally, the rest of the forum can be free for people who actually want to discuss the REALITY of how the team's playing and the potential consequences without having to hear the immature children pitch a fit that someone dares to have a different opinion.

:rocker:

Its the biggest problem on this board.

How dare you question the Patriots

A spirited debate is not the intention of game threads. That's all we're talking about here.... GAME THREAD. It would be nice to have one that allowed fans of other teams to read it without thinking that the Patriots fans consider their team to be the worst in the history of the NFL and completely incapable of defeating an opponent who's only down by a 28-7 score, for example.

As for regular forums, all that is asked is that rational arguments be used rather than the classic "Maroney sucks" sort of crap.

While I do not believe the Patriots are perfect I stay away from the game threads. There are some non believers in the game threads.

It has been proposed that fans who actually root for the Patriots start their own forum.

I think this is a great idea. I know I don't spend all this time here because I'm some sort of "objective" football expert. I'm a Patriots fan only and would love to have a game thread where "we suck, we're awful" wasn't considered commentary.

Apparently one poster has agreed to leave our game thread alone. If we kept the other whiners out, we could actually have only rooting and constructive criticism in the game thread.

Since we'd be composed solely of fans who've followed the team more than two weeks, we might have some intelligent discussions too.

What do you think "homers"? sounds like a winner to me!
I am late to the party here but not new to forums in general, and I'd have to say I agree with this post and the way you've laid it out.

Yes, because clearly a 15-0 team has a lot of significant issues which will certainly have severe consequences.

Think about it. We're watching the best team in the history of the NFL, and you guys still find reasons to *****. Yes, please, sign me up for this Homer Central. I came here to root for my team, not to have a bunch of know-nothings explain to me how our undefeated team WILL lose because they think it makes them sound objective.

Or how we will go undefeated again (haven't yet, but that's just a formality:rolleyes: ) because that's like, no problem.

RayClay is this proposal tongue and cheek or are you serious about a seperate Homer thread. Because I agree with you. There is to much second guessing, armchair quarter backing, and and general whining on the main gameday thread.

After going back and rereading you're original post I 'm sure you're serious and I'm all for it, if it can be done. Personally I'm tired of all the they suck, he sucks, what were they thinking. One week someone will have a lousy game( it happens) and all of a sudden they're a bust. Enough of that BS.

I voted once and will vote again, there are enough skeptics talking about the sky is falling, blueprint, no run O, no run D our LB's are too old, and the Pats draft sucks.. personally not sure if it is a historical perpective issue or just influenced by the Dennis and Callahan or Felger types. I am a homer, proud of it, if they go to the playoffs and loose I will still be proud of my team.. when I travel wear my colors proud and people know who we are.. I have no complaints about this team, could they have done somethings differently sure.. but for the most part no one can waiver my undying loyalty and fanaticism for this team, its coaches and its players.

I'm serious that the game thread's a disaster and I'm glad I had the game on TV in Tampa.

I'm not serious about much else, I come here to have fun.

I just feel sorry for people wasting all their time on a board named Patsfans.com that would think calling me a homer was an insult.

Always was, always will be.

I think Patsnut raised the seriousness bar since he's a mod and I'm not.

That's a good thing, because if i was a mod, I'd probably ban about 100 people the first week and Ian wouldn't like that (if I had banning powers, that is).

Ah, so that's the criterion you use to grant access? They must "actually root" for their team? What would be the difference between "rooting" and "actually rooting"?

This should be interesting. Try not to use examples, since they cannot be reproduced here in any meaningful way. Try describing, in English, the difference between "rooting" and "actual rooting". Just describe it. It shouldn't be too hard since you're the expert.

I root, by the way. I definitely root. I am just simple dirt rooter. I was born of lowly dirt rooter parents who passed on the dirt rooting to me as a young man. Please tell me how to rise in the ranks of mere dirt rooters to achive the coveted status of actual rooter.

I'd like to clear something up. Posters like PF1996 think I want them to just go away.

That's true.

Just wanted to clear that up.:D

Somewhere along the way, being 'objective' has come to mean 'being from the sky is falling crowd'.

The people who claim they are objective nowadays are just bandwagon jumpers, trolls, kneejerks, haters, chicken littles, or our new breed of trolls, the internal NEM/NSA style Patriot 'fan' troll from the original 'sky is falling crowd'.

What I don't like is that being objective actually meant something quite different a year ago, but now it means that you are a kneejerk Patriot 'fan' troll. It used to mean that you liked the Pats but could rationally discuss the strengths and weaknesses of the team without making a bunch of blanket statements and jumping to conclusions and assuming the worst.

I have never had a problem loving the Pats to death and hating all our opponents with passion, yet also being objective about the strengths and weaknesses of the Patriot team. The glass is not empty or full, it simply is what it is.

Apparently though, enough Pats trolls have hijacked the concept so now being objective means the sky is falling or that you are an a-hole like this pf1996 clown or the NSA/NEM guy.

IMO, being objective is NOT about being negative for the sake of being negative or relentlessly beating up on certain players just because. But apparently, that is the new definition of being objective around here.

But as always, it is the same old problem around here. There simply is no middle ground between the sky is falling, and homerville where the glass is always full (even during years when it isn't). Unfortunately, the reality on the ground will NEVER reflect these two extremes, and therefore this site will never really have as much meaning or intelligent discussion as it could.

Personally, I have never had a problem being proud of the team and at the same time realizing what our strengths and weaknesses are. That is completely different than being negative just for the hell of it, or thinking that the sky is falling because the game didn't go according to the plan, or jumping to conclusions about players based on limited knowledge or information. Or panicing that a game is won or lost simply because of a bad play or two.

This "objective" stuff is a lot of hooey too. We're 15-0 with three Super Bowls in the decade. The objective view would be we're pretty darned good.

I've been pretty critical about the lack of young linebackers. Maybe I'm wrong, but i don't rubber stamp everything the team does.

I'm just a casual fan, who has been around a while. These so called "fans" wouldn't know a football from a kumquat. Theyre negative, childish and annoying.

I would welcome some objective football fans, no matter what team they root for.

That isn't really the issue here, it's just a smokescreen for no nothings that have flooded a popular message board.

:rocker:

If you knew the rational behind every play and every decision you would be free to criticize ... but you don't know the rational nor do the people who do not whine such as me. This is the problem ... fans like you complain without truly knowing if you are right or wrong ... the reason we get so aggravated.

Also ... do the Patriots have the divine right to the best players who are the best all the time? Could it just be that what you are complaining about the Patriots are actually doing the best they can with the personell they have. Like a team that is great at blitzing ... perhaps we are doing our best with it ... so why whine about it ... Belichick is smart enough to compensate for that in other areas.

There is no perfection in football ... it's the big picture that counts ... you whiners simply do not know enough about football to get that concept.

So there is an "objective" crowd, capable of critical thinking, and a "sky is falling" crowd, apparently not capable of critical thinking but mimicking it in a way that involves a defeatism of some type?
