what does this phrase mean ? everyone is saying chargers and others will want to avoid the jags . havent we heard about the jags enough every time they played indy and predicted they would win and lost ?
this phrase is being thrown around all week. next we know..vince young gets in the playoffs .."no one wants to face vince young".
Shouldnt logically pats/colts be the two teams you wouldnt want to play if there is such a thing ?

just because we usually win handily, and harrison stopped spearing guys, doesnt mean that the pats are not tough. the game is a game of toughness. we dominate the game. we dominate the toughness.
its when the media sees a few hard hits and a good running game, and says the team is extra "tough". they wont look so tough laying on their backs!

I do worry about the Jags running game considering it's a major weakness of the Pats D, but if you take their running game away, I don't think they will be that effective, and I don't the Garrad can win the game for them...

Those of you worrying about Jags need to keep three things in mind.
1. Bill Belichick Vs Jack Del Rio
2. Bill Belichick Vs [Jack Del Rio + Mike Tice :) ]
3. Richard Seymour reaching 100% fitness and commanding double team.
4. (Bonus point) If nothing else works, put Harrison in the Box and put the game in Gerrard's hands and watch them implode.

Why worry about it? The real team no wants to play in the playoffs is our New England Patriots. Sit back, open a beer, and enjoy the opportunity to make history...

The team that noone wants to play =

The New England Patriots

Yeah, they need to start referring to the Jags as the 'team that has sudden momentum and is no longer an easy out'. No one wants to play the Pats, eod.

I like this Jags team though. They found an identity with the run and I really like Mojo Drew. Are they ready to win a playoff game in NE (or Indy?). Nope.

Only team the Pats worry about is Colts. the Jags don't have the speed to keep up with the Pats on offense. They can run all day, they can have fun stopping the Pats.

what does this phrase mean ?

It means, "Of all the sleeper teams out there that don't get lots of media coverage, which one is playing good football, and likely to upset somebody?"

Jags can't stop a good passing game.

I think it means that they are peaking at the right time and they are a tough, physical team that's not afraid of cold weather.

Jags have cause me money their previous 2 meetings against the colts, overated hype machines!!

The worst crap is when they wheel out that 'team of destiny' talk.

In 2003, as we had a magical season starting with a 31-0 loss and ending with a 31-0 win to the Bills, and set historical records for defense at home, and had the gods of weather on our side every game, we went into the playoffs and heard about the Packers as the team of destiny because Brett's dad died. Then the Eagles where the team of destiny because they had been there before. Then the Panthers where the team of destiny because they where the 2001 Patriots.

Only it turns out that was all just crap.

It generally means a team that isn't favored but has a style a lot of teams would like to avoid, or happens to be peaking at the right time.

I would say "more dangerous than their record indicates" kind of sums it up.

Or, in the case of the Jags or Titans, more dirty than what is allowed by the NFL rule book, and likely to injure your players in defeat as some kind of collateral damage/moral victory.

Usually the term seems to be thrown around to imply an intimidation factor is involved in playing a certain team when you have everything to lose and nothing to gain by playing them.

You're right, I kind of danced around that, didn't I? That's got to be as big a factor as the possibility of losing.

When I said "style" I kind of meant trying to take your knees out. Like the stylish Kevin Mawae.
