This has the potential to be the most-watched NFL non SB game in history. the league is, i understand, under pressure to work out some sort of one time deal so that it's broadcast across the country.

That would be nice.
I'm keeping hope alive, but I think we'll probably be S.O.L.

Hey folks, I have Direct TV Premium package, NFL Network is part of the package...no problem....but to watch HD.....I switch to channel 95 UD ??? for HD...go figure.

Now headin to Key West 12-29-07 thru New Years. on 12-29-07 found a Sports Bar in Key West that has NFL Network. Good.

Now.............? is........................where is the NFL Network going with this in the future.

Will Pats and other teams be "pay-per-view????????????????????????????

Were I not a fellow Pats fan, I'd be amused at the thought that a record is probably going to be set for the number of times the word "baaah" is spoken this month... :D

Up in here in Maine, we don't even have the choice of getting the NFL Network.

Thats what one gets for living in a socialist state of Maine....too many government rules not enough free choice.....to say nothing of the taxes....i can say that as i am a native and finally had had enough and moved out of state.

I GARUNTEE that this game will be broadcast on every cable provider in NE (if the Pats beat the Fish on Sunday).

It will generate HUGE dollars for the NFLN. There is no way they miss that boat.

Fret not Patriot faithful. You will get to see this game, on your local cable provider. FOR SURE. ;)

What are you trying to do, pull an Anthony Smith, "I was misquoted...".
Mogamedogz 2 weeks from now.

Now, I saw Heather Unruh on channel 5 on Tuesday morning saying that anyone who gets channel 5 WILL get the broadcast of the game. Her words were something like "if you get this station on your cable subscriber, which you do, because you can see me now, you WILL see the Pats game next Saturday."

But I go over to my subscriber, and to channel 5 and it says no such thing????

Have you been following this saga here:

http://the506.com/yabb/YaBB.pl?num=1198108921

"If you live in Mansfield Mass, which borders Foxboro (where the Patriots play) your game will be blacked out on the local Boston station (WCVB Channel 5). Mansfield Mass is literally 5 minues away from Gillette Stadium but it lies in Bristol County, which is part of the Prov RI not Boston DMA.

If you have NFL Network you are ok, but if not better get to Radio Shack and get an OTA Antenna"

THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH THAT !!!!

I am sure the NLFN is Loving this. This could create the riot they wanted with the Cowboy game that never really materialized.

i do not believe this is correct. i heard an interview today that stated otherwise, and on further research, it seems the following will occur;

if you have local channel 5, which some people in RI and CT have, you will get the game. because the cable company already has the rights to the channel, they cannot take it away for one game. also, in manchester NH area, if you have channel 9, that channel also has had the rights to the game, as it is a sister station to channel 5. any channel that already has rights has contracts that cannot be broken for one game.
now, those of you who do not have these channels, and do not have an option to purchase the nfl network, are S-O-L.
the nfl is not going to give rights to everyone for one game, as this would have had to be negotiated months ahead of time. there is too much paperwork and fcc bullcrap that has to be filed, along with a slew of lawyers that would have to devote their entire next two weeks to this cause. even if the nfl wanted to give you the game for nothing (and they sure as hell dont), they could not get it done in time. its not like flipping a switch.

for those of you who dont get the nfl network and wish they did- it sucks, it sucks, it sucks. you would think something that is entirely devoted to one sport would be half decent, but its terrible. bryant gumbel is your play by play, and he consistently mixes up the game terminology with basketball and hockey. as for the other programming, they have a few shows per week, and they fill the ENTIRE WEEK with those few shows, over and over and over again. this is why cable companies refuse to pay a fortune for the network. because nobody watches it unless there is a game on.

I live in Rhode Island and have Cox cable and they do offer the NFL network thank god.I must say I really enjoy it they rebroadcast every game like on a wednesday night and reduce to 1 1/2 hours..

If you have digital cable you should be able to call and order the NFL Network on Friday, watch the game on Saturday, and cancel on Sunday.

That should cost you about the price of a movie ticket.

Since when is Priovidence NOT considered part of the Boston market? Its been considered that for ETERNITY..

This year, the NFL Network had eight regular-season NFL games. The NFL Network gave local stations in home markets the rights to purchase a local game. WCVB successfully bid on and received the Patriots-Giants game on Dec. 29. As part of the agreement with the NFL Network, WCVB will broadcast the game only to its Boston/Manchester market as demarcated by the Nielsen Station Index.

The Nielsen defined excluded areas include the cable systems that carry Channel 5 and serve the following communities in Massachusetts (Amherst, Bernardston, Greenfield, Lee, North Adams, Palmer, Pittsfield, Shelburne Falls), New Hampshire (Claremont, Conway, Plymouth, Stratford, Waterville Valley), Maine (Biddeford, Moody, Saco, Sandford) and Connecticut (East Haddan, Norwich, University of Connecticut).

Satellite systems that carry Channel 5 must also black out the game, including systems serving Carroll, Coos, Grafton and Sullivan, N.H.

So now here in Westen Mass we are screwed!

This nfl network thing stinks.

Will the game be on radio?

I live in RI and got a message left on my answering machine that if I was a customer of Cox (which I am) and did not receive Cox Digital Cable and the Sports package to call them for important information regarding the game.

Since I am not a digital cable subscriber and have no intention of becoming one (waiting for Verizon) I had already made plans to watch the game at someone else's house.

I didn't call for the "important information" since I am sure it was yet another sales pitch.

Do you have a giant L tattooed to the center of your forehead?

This matches what I found out loging into Comcast and entering my zipcode for their TV Planner. Here in Rochester County NH on the seacoast we get the game. I'd have listened to Gil and Gino and loged onto this site rather than pay the couple bucks to subscribe to get NFLN just for that game and cancel the next day.

hop in the car an drive to the game!!!
Is anyone making the trip to Jersey?

I may have some tixs for sale .....

I think that's wrong, from what I have heard. Though we may never know as there may one-time changes due to the outcry.

Since when is Priovidence NOT considered part of the Boston market? Its been considered that for ETERNITY..

Providence is a secondary market, not primary. Never has been truly a part of the Boston market. I am not completely sure, but I think back when Pats games were often blacked out in Boston Providence still got them... if they wanted them.

If NFL owners don't want the additional TV revenue that's their problem - it's ultimately a business as all the players point out. That's why I can't see subscribing for a day - you only give owners what they want.

However when it comes to breaking up basic cable service into more service tiers, so the NFL Network can't continue to demand to be included in "basic service", I wouldn't look for the NFL to get much sympathy.

Do you have "IDIOT" firmly tatooed on your forehead? Stop whining. Cox has offered you digital service. You don't want to pay. They have offered special arrangements for the game. You don't want to listen. Wait for Verizon. Maybe when you reach 18, they'll have NFLN in their digital package, and maybe you'll pay more then, and maybe less. Verizon is NOT yet available to you. It seems that your local cable company is providing what it can. You just choose not to pay. That is your choice. Enjoy your analog service! By the way, do still have black and white TV? Also, why not disconnect cable and use rabbit ears?
