Bounty Rule - What if the Pats violated this one?

The Pack are the feel good story in the league and we are evil.

The NFL must punish the evildoer's and give a stern talking-to to all of the fell good, "saintly" teams.

Goodell is as crooked as many hiking trails...when he pronounced how he wished to be FAIR and that that was what was fueling his punishment of the Patriots I KNEW those words were just garbage...

Since they broke a rule, and the precedent was set pretty steep with the Pats, there should be a punishment. Still, I think the use of the word bounty has made this seem far, far worse than it really is. It's teammates putting up friendly wagers to perform their position at a high level. When I first saw the word bounty, I figured that they were putting out hits on players or something, and paying upon injury. But no, it's just general performance-related stuff. Not a big deal at all.

Agreed, and Patriot fans shouldn't get hyprocritcal and act like it is a big deal. Having said that, I'm 99% sure there would be a lot of hand-wringing and debate about it if the Pats did it.

Yeah, there would be, without a doubt. To hell with the media, though; every Pats fan should have figured out that what the media thinks is worthless, and, by extension, that anyone who believes whatever the media says is also worthless.

Packers defensive end Aaron Kampman said players were trying to put the issue behind them.

"I know all that stuff kind of happened last week, and we haven't heard anything," Kampman said. "It's pretty much all water under the dam."

Nah. Sounds more like water over the bridge.

With the media, there is a double-standard, if this was the Pats the headlines would be "Belichick Cheats Again" or some similar crap.

I don't see the double-standard as far the NFL goes.

1. This was being done by individuals players, not the team as a whole. Because of the NFLPA, it's much harder to punish players than punish a team.

2. There was already a warning memo sent out about filming, presumably there haven't been any recent warnings about bounties.

That is how I see it too.

My east coast upbringing, where I learned to self fladulate, is serving me well in this season of evil. How utterly awful we all are.

Ain't it funny that he doesn't even try to hide it.

What would be the headline if it were the pats?

"Pats are at it again!"
"Pats hit squad stalks the opposition!"
"Pats are paid assasines!"

Goodell blows.

I think that you are correct. But, the leagues ruling on the pats was "far, far worse than it really" was.

It is a big deal. A rule was clearly broken. And, since they opened that can of worms, other teams must feel the heat.

I hear you. I think such violations would have a similar level of impact on a team's performance as filming defensive signals from the sidelines.

Exactly, why is this not something that people are up in arms about?

Dude, if any of the managers, coaches or owners knew about this, it was clearly a punishable offense.

I don't know guys. It seems that we are just accepting our lot in life or something. Or, is it because we feel guilty that our team is so good and we don't want the rest of the league to say, "oh stop complaining you bunch of cheaters." I am sick of this crap. This league is sooo full of Bull chit it ain't even funny. I see huge double standards. It is pathetic.

kind of like the word spying ?

Can you prove they did? This might be something between the players.

Bullsh!t, sports fans are the biggest conspiracy theorists. Except that in every city, the conspiracy is against their team. Please, the rest of the country still thinks the refs are handing us games.

I want the league to treat the teams equally. The punishment handed down to the pats was severe. The rule was clearly broken by the pack. They should face greater punishment as far as I am concerned.

Further, the league should investigate. Reports to the media should be given by the league office. It should be handled the same way it was when the pats were investigated. Fair is fair. I feel as others feel that the pack is getting a free ride.

If the pats did this, it would be a very big deal. Don't you agree? I am saying that in my opinion the league would be far more agressive with the pats.

You don't agree. Fine. Others do.

You guys kill me. Your team doesn't just beat other teams, the Pats rub their noses in it. You gusy constantly talk crap about other teams, not just concerning sports but you actually insult other teams players and coaches personally, then you guys sit around saying there's a league bias against you?

There's no bias except that everyone thinks you guys are bad sports, which is true. You guys brag about humiliating other teams, you take pride in laying on "**** you" TD's at the end of games. How do you think people are going to react? The leagus isn't "against you" though and you guys sound like a bunch of whiny douches when you act like it is. Grow up.

You enjoy playing the villian, look at all the bragging on this thread alone, so why do you get all high and mighty about it and wonder why you're so disliked?

I mean damn, you guys ever hear of a persecution complex? Quit whining.

bartmuleyy. Tell me something and please be honest. Do you say "use Guys" ever? Because it would make your argument stronger in my opinion.

And, if I were you, I would wear a fidora.

Otherwise, I think that your masterpiece is well, a masterpiece. And, us guys will surely change our ways. We are lucky that you have brought us your wisdom.

And I didn't want to say this on this like public board, but man, I love you so much. Keep the quips coming cause they are very very strong, tight and well, just good! :)

The Packers were given the same courtesy that The Patriots were given. They were sent a notice about bounty rules, just like the Patriots and other teams were regarding filming of signals last offseason. If they continue to violate this rule, as The Patriots did in Week 1, then they will be punished as well. There's no sign of a double standard here.

Please tell me what Goodell has done about the piped in crowd noise at Indy?? CLEARLY a violation of rules and totally unfair?? AND they have been warned about this as well...Tell me also about what he has done about some teams messing with the QB communications so there is NO blackout period in the last 15 seconds of the play clock?? Many teams ARE doing this and yet as UNFIAR as that is, Goodell has done nothing. Apparently he has double standards as to what is fair and what is NOT fair..and clearly what he says is one thing..in practice another. When Goodell DOES something about these in LINE with how he punished teh Pats then you can talk..otherwise STFU!!!
