Maroney gets diapers at his locker [merged]

Re: diapers

One thing I'll say in LaMa's defense, is that Skippy could be a bit more creative in designing running plays. Where are the toss sweeps, stretches and misdirections? Let's get him more in space, and less inside the tackle box, and see what happens.

Saw those in preseason and they were very effective. Why not use them in the regular season? I honestly believe the Pats are holding back some stuff for the playoffs. This may sound crazy...but the only team that really challenged the Pats this year is the Colts, and those stretch plays and sweeps wouldn't work very well against them (ends push upfield, fast chasing LBs). You are correct that Maroney is a instinctive, quick, decisive runner in space. Yet the Pats choose not to run any plays that get him in space?

How about another one. Maroney in 2006 = 22 catches. Maroney so far in 2007 = 2 catches (and both of those were in the same game). Think we will see a bunch of screens and swing passes to Maroney in the playoffs? I do.

Give me another explanation that makes sense. Maroney's skills deteriorating in his 2nd year? Maroney in the doghouse for some reason but continuing to get on the field when the game is still in doubt (also known as the 1st quarter)? If we have learned anything about Belichick, it is that he isn't stupid and he doesn't take a dump without a plan.

Re: Diapers

No it is not possible for that to be related to this story because all the idiots in this thread who want to condemn the guy say it cannot be true. That video would explain too much, be too funny, and make too much sense. It has to be something negative and rude so he will listen to the gods on this board who know more than BB.

Re: diapers

That's right, Parcells. Remember "Theresa" Glenn? That guy turned it around, although I don't know what's up with him now.

Some type of foot injury and he's supposed to return soon.

That offense is certainly fully loaded, although somehow I think TO is happier with Terry out of the equation.

Re: Diapers

i think it would mean whiny..or your still maturing as a player, etc

Re: Diapers

Sure, one of his teammates hears about cabbage patch diapers ( great macho image for a football player) and puts a package in front of his locker as a joke. Media record it and viola, it's a Larry Johnson-Vermeil " take off the diapers controversy".........could be totally out of context..or maybe not....
Wasn't it Seau who talked about hanging yellow stickies around the locker room because a teammate missed an assignment in the pre-season to remind that teammate of the proper alignment....?

Re: Diapers

The Patriots players are known for raging on each other both in fun and to motivate each other. It's a healthy atmosphere. Brady is a popular target for hazing because of all his pretty boy commercial photo shoots. Asante and Vrable are known Brady hazers.

Re: Diapers

your right about video. i forgot about that..could just be messing with him because of that

Re: Diapers

Rewatching the Buffalo game there is a strange few second segment on the sidelines where I think Randy from Rand University had just scored TD number 3 and was looking upbeat and happy. Maroney came over to him, helmet ajar, and spoke to him. Randy shook his head fairly strongly and walked away.

Maroney: "Uhmm, ah Randy... do you think I can get a little more of the action today?"
Randy: "Don't be a selfish child!..Damn!"
;) ;)

said the man with 4 TDs in 1 half lol

deep inside i know Laurence is dissapointed with his opportunities. He can say all he wants about winning but when he missed time earlier in season and comes back and we dont run him much..its tough for any player. Hes a competitor and he wants the ball just as much as Randy, Welker, Watson, Stallworth, Brady, etc

Every player wants the ball. Im sure Laurence will have a huge game down the road but the RBs role in this offense isnt huge

in college..he would get up to 40 carries at times..now..he gets 15ish

Ya thats it, make up things so you can avoid the truth and make Maroney look bad.

Re: Diapers

You guys are :bricks: piling on each other pretty good. Why?

Re: Diapers

haha...I hadn't seen that vid. You can imagine Maroney afterwards saying "Mom...wtf did you tell them about Cabbage Patch diapers for?" He didn't look too happy fielding that question.

A joke? A message? Maybe both? His comments about not changing, or wanting to change, his running style are bothersome. Who remembers back in Kevin Faulk's early fumble-prone days where he was made to carry a ball around w/ him 24/7? Faulk ate his humble pie and became one of the most trusted guys w/ a ball out there. I hope Maroney learns from that. Damn, bring back Cory for one last ring...BB brings him back in w/ the intent of finishing up the old school, hard-nosed running lessons.

Re: Diapers

Meriweather and Maroney and Chad Jackson don't matter. It's up to them to make their mark.

They either force their way into the lineup, or special teams, or thy get to year 3,4,5 and they're replaced.

Only the fans wring their hands over every little problem the young players encounter. The Patriots just have a job to fill and if you don't do the work to become one of the trusted veterans, they get somebody else.

Re: Diapers

Laurence Maroney had already heard from his mom about the barbs that have been hurled at him in the press, but the three 40-count package of Huggies sized-2 diapers that had been dumped by his locker might have delivered the same message. (The diapers, however, were likely a good-natured kick in the shorts courtesy of his teammates, who all think very highly of the good-natured young back).

Think about it ppl. Why would BB do this. I am sure that if BB wants to send LoMo a message, he would do it quite directly.

Re: Diapers

I actually don't get the baby thing anyway. Maroney runs plenty tough to my eyes. He may dance a little sometimes but it's not because he's scared of contact, it's either a vision or a decision making issue. He's shown plenty of toughness to me.
