Does anyone else realize that old man Corey Dillon, who OBVIOUSLY had lost a step, averaged 4.1 ypc last season behind this o-line with NO RECEIVERS and is OUT of football this season? Does anyone else realize that Sammy Morris who was a JAG in Miami and Buffalo came in behind this o-line and looked every bit as good as Maroney? If those two players can come in and do the job, than why the hell did we draft Maroney in the 1st rd if he is not a difference maker? We drafted this guy expecting MUCH MORE than what he has given us. Anyone who doesn't think that is obviously sipping the kool-aid, pardon the pun. You do not draft 1st rd picks on running backs that give you the same production that chump change free agent running backs can give you. I am sorry. Repeat after me kids.........The kid is a B-U-S-T, BUST.

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm on the verge of starting a "BRADY GOT BENCHED [in the 4th quarter]" thread just to be annoying.

See, now thats fairly reasonable. A perfectly solid, rational, unabashed case. I dont mind jumping in here if you can just keep it relatively clean. In reality, its a big dissapointment that he hasnt had more big plays. I couldnt agree more. But, Im just not into wasting my time. Because what's the good of calling him out, which you just love to do repeatedly? Obviously, we'd all love to see more from him. Youre not alone. Where youre alone, or where you have very little company, is in just insulting the guy needlessly over and over and over again. Everyone gets it. But why the hate? the guy's a part of your team, like it or not. So my point is, while its good to be critical, its pretty useless without purpose. Maroney is a part of this team for another 3 years. He may get worse or he may get better. but as long as the team continues to COMPLETEY DOMINATE the NFL, why waste your time worrying. Just chill and enjoy the ride.

I dont care what anyone says anymore... I dont think Maroney has what it takes to carry the full load alone. I just dont see what most of you guys see in him I guess. Maybe im a bad fan because of it... who knows!?

I would love it if we could somehow work out a deal with Dallas to bring Marion Barber III here. Dallas barely uses the kid anyway... They would rather use that turd Julius Jones.

Barber/Maroney would be a AWESOME 1,2 punch (just like they were in college). :rocker:

Could it be he's still not 100% this season, and/or when the Pats have jumped to big leads, BB is preserving him for later in the season when the weather gets nasty and they can't rely as much on the Brady and Moss Flying Circus?

Maroney did put in a faull game against Indy when the score game was close.

You clearly have me confused with someone else because I never said anything of the sort about Meriweather. On the contrary, I was one of the people saying that Meriweather was NOT a hood or a felon. Why don't YOU go find the posts if you think I said those things.

Scored one td over 10 games on one of the best (if not the best) offensive team of all time Maroney hasn't played in 10 games. Also, the offense is predicated on the PASSING GAME, not the RUNNING game. Not to mention that the Patriots have purposely stayed away from Maroney in short yardage spots to keep his shoulder from being re-injured. Whether or not this is the best offensive team of all time has NOTHING to do with how many TDs Maroney gets.

Has failed to put together a big game When the offense is predicated on the PASSING GAME until the game is so far out of reach of the other team its kind of hard to put a big game together. Again, because this team is predicated on the passing game, not the running game.

Has two receptions So he has 2 receptions. Faulk is the receptions guy. The Pats also have 4 guys named Welker, Watson, Moss and Stallworth who are all better receiving options.

Has done nothing in the red zone. Maroney has 1 TD in the Red Zone. While not spectacular, its not NOTHING either. Again, another opinion.

Has yet to break it the secondary and take one to the house So what? Is that how you judge a RB? Over whether or not he took one to the house? Who cares..

Has been highly ineffective most of the time Having a 4.6 YPC average spits in the face of your opinion that he's been highly ineffective most of the time.

Has had constant durability issues No he hasn't had constant durability issues. Again, this is ANOTHER opinion of yours. And you make it because you don't have all the information. As I have said, and you continue to ignore, Maroney has been treated with kids gloves since his injury last year because the Pats want to keep him fresh and healthy. So they will take him out when the game is well in hand. They will not use him regularly in Red Zone areas until they are sure his shoulder is 100%. This is just SOUND player management.

Huh??? So, in other words, I shouldn't care about anything because the Pats are kicking butt and taking names? I'll tell you what I do know. I know if we keep blowing 1st Rd picks on busts like Maroney, than you can say good night to these fabulous blowouts and dominant performances we've seen thus far. Sprinkle a few more Maroney's on this roster and you'll go from great to ordinary pretty quick. Should Belichick give the team the week off because they won 56-10? No, he'll point out their flaws the same way Pioli will get rid of the players that he can replace with BETTER ones this offseason. Excuse me if I don't want to come on here waving the pom poms and tickling the you know whats of every player on this team. I expect and demand performance that is up to par from every player on this team. Sorry, call me the Grinch if you want, but that's just me. There may be a time during the playoff run when the passing game isn't hitting on all cylinders and the Pats need a competent running game or threat of one. Last years AFCCG was a prime example...One one more first down in the 2nd half of that game and the Pats head to the Superbowl. Maroney got stuffed repeatedly in that game.

Dancin' because it worked at the University of Minnesota ain't gonna cut it.

Exactly. I guess people think we are just going to steamroll the rest of the way. What happens if and when Moss gets hurt and is on the sideline, we need to chew up some clock, and we need Maroney to do it? I, for one, simply have seen nothing that leads me to think he can and will do it.

And Randy Moss, Stallworth, Welker, Seau, Vrabel, Colvin, Thomas, even Jabar Gafney, Larry Izzo, and Rodney Harrison have nothing to do with how we draft. These are all key players that were never #1 picks. Brady wasnt a 1st round pick. He should have been. You just kick back, enjoy the ride, watch history in the making, remember the legend as it grows, and let the boys in the front office worry about all those tedious tasks like adding to the juggernaut.

I don't believe Maroney got benched. The simple fact is that we havent needed to run the ball. Why gain 3 yards when we can gain 10...just to prove that Maroney can run the ball? And in the second half its not sensible to just lineup with 2 tight ends and a fullback and smash the ball in there 20 times with Lawrence. First of all he is not the type of runner and second of all that is how you get backs/lineman hurt. Neal is down and Koppen has been hurt this year so they dont want the Bills having 9 guys in the box stuffing the middle. I agree that I would like to see Maroney maybe get a few more carries in case we get some bad weather and need to pound it to him 25-30 times....there is just no need for it right now
