Let's face it.....

As close and competitive as the game was, it was exaserbated by the fact that we (mostly me) forgot how to handle playing in a tight constest.

During our SB runs, we had numerous close contests, but as a fan I knew we'd pull it out somehow in the end.

This year, I starting getting upset when it would seem we'd win by less that 17.

I have to be honest, i only turned off my TV for 1 minute after Brady got int'd by Brackett.

I'll be better next time.

Great point!

I was so pissed in the 3rd I went to take a shower to et ready for work!

I came back just in time to see the Pats' first TD of the 4th.

I'm thinking I should shower during every close game from now on.

I didn't turn off the game (too many people over my house watching it!) but I did think we were going to lose. I thought that it felt that way for most of the game....until Moss's huge reception. Even then I thought the flag thrown would somehow be on us.

I never turned off or away, but that is a point well taken. There were lots of muffled profanities yelled into the couch cushion, pounding on the table and more beer consumed than usual.

I'll never tire of rewatching Manning pound the turf after his game ending fumble. Priceless.

Somehow - I think we will get more tight games as the season drones on. The rest of the league will pick up their level of play and if you are slightly off on your game, there is a good chance you will lose the game.

The bye week comes at a good time. And I am thinking Corey Dillon will be in Patriots uniform in two weeks.

while i never thought we would lose yesterday, the phantom PI's and non-calls had me yelling at the tv more than my 8 year old daughter found acceptable. after we got our 1 call of the game (holding), i went strangely quiet. Almost like i knew we were coming back. All in all it was drama and angst we haven't experienced all year, much better than feeling embarrassed as we score our 7th TD late in a romp.

The game should never have been as close as the zebras made it. Guess nobody will question how brady will react in a tight game again this year(as if they had any reason to in the first place).

So true - we've become so spoiled lately! I too was having a hard time watching in the 3rd quarter. Lots of people at my house and I kept clearing the table or putting out dessert rather than watch for a few minutes. For a while there it felt like that Denver playoff game a few years ago. Refs making bad calls and things snowballing when we make mistake after mistake. The saving grace this time was somehow, miraculously, the Colts were not really capitalizing.

When we went down by 10 in the 4th, I kept saying to myself, "Just keep playing; just keep playing." And they did!!

By the way, anyone else think that making Manning & Dungy sit there with those pained looks on their faces to watch the last two minutes slowly tick away while we took a knee and Brady told the refs to take a powder was much more satisfying than running up the score? We can even say we had "mercy" on them for all the critics!

I argee with you. At no time during the game did I think that we were going to lose. The reason for that was I strongly believe that if you have to be able to win the tight ones as well as the easy ones. And until yesterday we won all the easy ones. Now we know that we can win the hard ones.

Re: Fan Problems- We forgot how to handle close games

I had no doubt that Brady would hit Moss and Welker for a few big receptions, and that the defense would get at least one more turnover to seal the game. Seriously.

About the only thing that surprised me was Faulk getting the touchdown instead of one of the recievers or TE's. Good for him.

Re: Fan Problems- We forgot how to handle close games

I can see what you mean...but there is a difference between a close game and a game where you are playing like sh*t and getting no breaks. This one was the latter, and there was no reason to think they might pull it out.

Re: Fan Problems- We forgot how to handle close games

Didn't it all come flooding back once the Pats cut the lead to 3? That moment of remembering..."oh, right! It's the 4th quarter and Tom Brady is at the controls. This is what he does best."

Re: Fan Problems- We forgot how to handle close games

One thing that did piss me off was people in the game thread saying Manning was definitely better than Brady and why were they even being compared.

Um, excuse me? Even if we lost, I would NEVER concede that. Everything was perfectly controlled for the Colts yesterday, being at home, with refs making all the calls for them.....I EXPECT Manning to play well. I thought those comments were ridiculous and way off base..
