i really feel bad for this guy... he is going to miss the 'magic' this season...

I was just wondering about Morris this morning.

This is very unfortunate news. Hopefully, this is the last serious injury we see this year. It seems like a lot of teams (Redskins and Bills off the top of my head) are suffering a lot of injuries this year.

Hope that glass vase wearing #39 can stay healthy. :D

Too bad for Morris, he was really exceeding all expectations. There is no doubt in my mind, he'll be better than ever next year.

Damn! You beat me to it. I was gonna post "Morris is made of GLASS!"

Add another 5 TDs to Brady's year end total!

Maroney's work is cut out for him. It's officially time for him to step up as the lead back and stay healthy. He has the ability to be one of top backs in the league, and Maroney is determined to prove that to everybody. I will miss Morris very much, he was an amazing pickup. His early contribution will not be forgotten.

I expect that Evans and Eckel will be carrying the ball more often to keep Faulk and Maroney healthy. Also, as a previous poster stated, more short passes later in the game instead of pounding up the gut.

I would also expect Troy Brown to take the roster spot, which imho is the only positive (and that is really reaching to find one) on this situation. This takes the onus off of Bellicheck to make a roster move to cut somebody.

I thought they went into the season light at RB this year. Regardless of what happens this year, I hope they invest a high pick on another RB next year.....not their first. With Faulk/Maroney/Morris at the start of the year, it would be nice to upgrade Eckel.

That's a shame. He was contributing a lot. Thank god the offense isn't run-first like last year, this would be devastating.

They just didn't want to wait for him most likely. He probably was a couple more weeks out or so and they figured they could make different roster moves that help the team more.
I doubt that. If it was only a couple weeks, they would surely wait. He'd just be on of the seven inactives.

This is what I have been saying all along. Now lets see who was right.A l ot of the homers where calling me an idiot for talking about maroneys lack of durabilty?
You do realize it is Morris on IR, right? Not Maroney?

Maroney will be playing Sunday as far as I know.

from Roto world

NFL Network's Adam Schefter reports free agent Corey Dillon "is receptive" to the idea of returning to the Patriots.

Schefter says Dillon would be open to playing for a playoff bound franchise, and also lists Green Bay as a possible destination. The Pats have a need at backup running back with Sammy Morris having landed on season ending injured reserve. Even if Dillon signed tomorrow, however, his immediate impact would likely be minimal. It's uncertain what kind of shape he's in.

If it is Dillon, at least he is familiar with the offense so there would not be any down time to learn an offense or more imporatnly the blitz pick ups.

I wonder what will happen if Maroney gets injured again... hopefully he won't. But his track record speaks for itself.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK...then who would you recommend?? I was one of the ones at the beginning of the year arguing that this is our biggest weakness-- RB. We need a veteran bruiser now more than ever. Its getting cold.

Sorry to hear that.
Good luck sammy, heal up and get yourself ready for next year.

Morris was a great addition and had a freak injury...Dillon..back and just doing what he needs to get another ring..and be part of this incredible team!!!

What happened to that rb/fb on the Steelers? Wasn't he cut this year?

BB tried to get him in the past, but resigned with the Steelers.

His name slips my mind...

I'll miss #34. Looking forward to seeing him next.

Now I hate to say this, and I do love this particular olineman who has so much heart, but the body count keeps adding up.
Bethel Johnson
Deion Branch
Sammy Morris
??? who's next ???

just kidding ... I think
