Clinton Portis:
"Talent-wise, I think we [are] the most talented team in the NFL. It's discipline. It's coming together and playing as a team," Portis said. "When it comes to talent, I think we've got more talent than anybody, including the Patriots. You look at the receiving corps they put together, I think our receiving corps is just as talented."

Let's see if he feels the same way after the game.

Sounds like TJ H of the Bengals who said the only difference between the Bengals and Patriots is the three rings. Let's face it, these guys are great athletes but they aren't that smart.

I think CP is off on the WRs being equal. And outside of QB, I think the Skins have the better talent everywhere else. But talent alone wont win games.

I don't see anything wrong with his statements; they may be wrong but it sounds like he's just supporting his team

I don't see that as a shot to the Pats. What's he supposed to say? "The Patriots are way more talented. We suck." He's just supporting his guys.

Maybe he should just not say anything.

He wouldn't be a competitor if he didn't feel that way.

It just makes him look stupid. Why not say Campbell is as good as Brady too ? If he wants to say he thinks they can win the game - great - but let's not compare their Moss to ours :D

hmmm..so thats why they picked up Reche...

I have to agree with others here Portis did not say anything that I take offense to. He thinks his teammates are talented. It is not an insult and he should not have to keep his mouth shut about it.

That's the point - he was running his mouth just to run his mouth. Because we ALL know he doesn't really believe what he said.

Nothing wrong with what Portis said. He's probably right. Top to bottom there is probably not too much separating the teams. I think he's obviously a bit off base on this WR comments, as we have superior talent, but the overall talent levels of the teams are probably equitable, esp. on defense, where they might even have an edge.

He doesn't believe he has very talented teammates?

Better talent everywhere else? Ok...let's compare defensive lines. You think the Redskins have a defensive line that's as good as Warren-Wilfork-Seymour + Green? Ha. Offensive lines? Give me the Pats. Trenches, baby, trenches.

Portis is a goofball but I don't see anything to take offense at in what he said...it probably taken out of context anyways. Chances are the reporter was baiting him with ridiculous questions about how they can possibly compete with the Pats who are SO much more talented then the Skins and he was just defending his teammates.

Well according to a lot of people, namely the scouts over at ESPN, the Skins have the edge on the line.

It's all part of believing in yourself, BF.
These guys aren't going to roll over for us.
I don't think.

I agree. He doesn't say "with this talent we will win". I think it is a okay statement to make about the belief in one's team's raw talent and try to motivate them to play as a team with discipline. Not that it matters this week, of course. I think Pats win 34-10.

You would take your Redskin line over a Pats line that includes a healthy Seymour? There's not one GM in the whole NFL that would do that, I can assure you.

Well, is that really a nice thing to say? It is called loving your team and having faith in them. And just a little FYI... they both have been in the league 7 years. Carter has 43 sacks, 18pds, and 23 stuffs. While Seymour has 29 sacks 20 stuffs and 27pds. And keep in mind SF did not use Carter the way he was intended and bred to play.

Well Carter is pretty much even if not better than Seymour.... And im pretty sure ESPN advanced scouts know what they are talking about................
