I was watching the game at a sports bar and kept trying to figure out who this #31 was that was all over the place. I thought he did a great job on D and special teams. I'm new here so not sure if he's talked about much. Has he shown much improvement, or was this his first real test since Cincy is pass first team?

He got away with a personal foul against Cincy (I think it was Chad Johnson). I hope the coaches chewed him out over that. The fact that the ref blew the call doesn't excuse the action.

Honestly, this is the first time I can remember ever seeing him actually on the field doing anything...so, thats good...i noticed him. Of course, I noticed him because I was wondering what idiot Patriot was trying to draw a flag...

Although he was in on plays, I thought he was a little out of control.

Something he will surely correct with experience and a little less caffeine.

Gotta love the motor.

I thought he played a very good game. The "teaching opportunity" re: the potential penalty is a good one for him to have had (and has the added benefit of not having resulted in a penalty or affecting the game at all). He was active, spirited and confident, if a bit out of control at times.

Not a terrible showing for a rookie. I found it encouraging.

His play looked to me like he was trying a bit too hard to make plays and looked nervous and excited at the same time - Good for a rookie though and that open field tackle for a loss on a 1 on 1 with RB Watson was outstanding

OMG, not the BlueHen! :)

Must be a Delaware fan... the famous "Blue Hens" that strike fear into opposing teams.

Does that mean the women's sports teams are referred to as the unnecessarily repetitious "Lady Hens?"

But yes - Merriweather played very well against the Bengals- unfortunately it was overshadowed by his propensity to talk too much trash during the game.

That's not smart for anyone - especially a rookie.

wasnt it TJ Housh?

too much trash? you act like he talked all game. it was after 1 play and TJ probably told him something first. or whoever it was

I watched the game again last night and it was TJ Housh....that he tackled for a loss. AND TJ definately did not appreciate being tackled for a loss and he let the rook know about it. Everyone needs to relax. We have a lot of veterans on this team who will keep the kid in line. And BB knows how to get his message across. I liked his aggressiveness and the fact that he wasn't intimidated. He'll learn to control that agressiveness.

It's a good thing to have a safety with a screw loose on the team. If he's being groomed to take over after Harrison is gone, he'll nicely take over the "crazy guy" role on the team. Harrison's not dirty, but he'll do ANYTHING to make a tackle and plays like a madman, not unlike the qualities Merriweather has shown, albeit in just a few plays. It's almost worth it to have a player that others consider dirty because TEs and QBs will be conscious of that and very nervous to throw it in his vicinity. That being said, he is no Rodney yet, but I'm sure he'll be molded in that image, and other teams will hate him because he's a little crazy and hits like a freight train.
