Now, I used to read King's columns all the time. he was a pretty decent writer, with some good insights and angles on different things. the last year or so, he's started adding more and more political slants to his work,more "gotcha" type writing, and other wierd stuff. This episode with the Pats seems to have tipped him over the edge into conspiracy-land.

asked if his email box was full of emails from NE fans..just like ours was! he begins with how great the fans are, and how passionate the sprts fan is (vomit).
about tapes...cover up? says he is sure come gameday that many sportscasters will say how could the inverstigation be over so quickly. but king say she is confident it was all above board. he is sure many nfl officals have been too foxboro and checked it out for more tapes etc. but he thinks taht the league doesnt want to find out anyting else
patriots players caught in the crossfire, does this spygate taint the dynasty? it does taint it...but i have given this alot of thought..and i beleive they would have won all3 sb's anyway. we will never know the exact impact the tapes had.(double vomit)

If any of them had taken a step back to rationality they would have looked at that tape of three guys signing in plain sight, and when they finished laughing been opining about what a load of crap it is to call videotaping that hi-tech spying, let alone to dock a team a first rounder and attempt to call into question it's 3 Lombardi's and the career accomplishments of it's HOF HC and QB over what was never more than a friggin' procedural rules violation. If this violation had been unearthed in a game between 2 NFC rivals, the story would have been a blip and the penalty would have been a fine and a third or fourth round pick. Circumventing the cap is a far more agregious rules violation, yet it's been done by more than one multiple Superbowl Champion whose accomplishments and HC's ethics are in hindsight never called into question.

At the end of the day Curren is right - they merely write for their audience. Most of the rest of the country has had just about enough of us. The first Lombardi was heartwarming. The second was eye opening. The third was enough already. This overloaded 2007 squad on the heels of a decimated 2006 one that came up a couple of plays short of #4 is really pissing off both the parity crowd and the Dungy hugger tree ballwashers. They have to believe we do something illegal/immoral because the alternative is we are just a superior football entity across the board, and that to the majority of NFL fans and media is just unacceptable.

He whined about what many (but not him of course) will say was a whitewash investigation of the addtional tapes - and expanded on why it would be considered a whitewash... but again said HE'S not considering it a whitewash (but will likely straddle the fence in his column). He made a point of saying that a more "official" type of investigation should have been done (Yeah, Peter? You mean in a system where one is innocent until proven guilty?

Then he went on to rationalize that cheating the Jets did to draw the Ravens offside is just part of the game. (Excuse me Peter - did that give them a "competitive advantage"? So some competitive advantages by breaking the rules are ok but some are not??!! - or maybe cheating by players is ok but not by coaches?)
The only thing he said that made sense was admitting that the media is catering to teams throughout the NFL in their reporting - not just the Patriots... Good to know that the TRUTH has nothing to do with that Peter... and that you too are catering to the fans of 31 other teams rather than New England Fans who can see past the lies and ignorance of most reporters, including yourself.
