Merriman and BB

anyone notice that Bill went over to shawne after game....and they spoke..as the cameras broke for a comm. wonder if is checking him out..maybe a few years down the road?

I also noticed Norv annd BB's post-game handshake seemed to consist of more than "good game". It looked like Norv said something nice....wonder what it was?

Merrimen's greeting with Belichick seemed very cold, typical of a punk whose team just got embarrassed. He's not Patriot material.

On the other hand, he greeted Gates right after that and that greeting seemed very warm. Gates would look great in a Pats uniform.

I use to get annoyed with Merriman's overall attitude until I realized that he is 23 years old.... 23 year old men are usually angry, self absorbed idiots....

I speak from experience...

Guys, he coached some of these players at the Pro Bowl. He he has relationships with them to some extent.

Bill covets good linebackers, and anyone remember how chummy Bill was with AD at the pro bowl last year? A sign of something down the road?

I think Merriman has made some strides. He's not there yet but he's starting to get it. It seems like he is trying to think before he speaks....

I was impressed when I heard his comments on Rodney...

He said to Norv, "I really appreciate what you said." I don't think he commented publicly, but maybe he called Bill or something?

After Merriman, he went over to Gates. His penchant for cultivating relationships with good players (AD, Ed Reed, etc.) has always led me to believe that he was here for the long haul.

good point. Jesus, i can't believe that monster is only 23.

Most 23 year olds in college are buttheads. Most college athletes are complete buttheads. Merriman was a stud in college, who turned into a first round pick, who turned into a defensive monster in this league and one of the best linebackers.

He's going to be a ****y buttface. He does need to grow up a little though.

He gave Merriman and Gates a hug at the end of the game. I was surprised by the former - not by the latter. Altough it's easy to be gracious when you just blew up the competition I suppose.

Can you imagine opposing GM's sitting up in the booth, and seeing BB go over to their best defensive players after the game for a 'chat'. Can you say, Coronary?

Maybe he suggested that Merriman not do primal screams and begin convulsions after every tackle he is involved in. Maybe then the Pats D wouldn't mimic him mercilessly like they did in the 4th quarter last night.

I'll have to check the DVR. I thought that Belichick's going over and hugging and talking to Gates and Merriman was classy and warm. There obviously is a lot of mutual respect bewtween those players and Belichick. The hate for Merriman is for "fans only". He had a great game and he is a great linebacker.

After Belichick's little scouting expedition to Hawaii last January that resulted in Adalius Thomas joining the good guys, some GMs will have to start rooting for the Patriots in future championship games to shut this down
