If San Diego plays next week like they did today they are in trouble

If it takes a knowledge of our snap count and refs not calling offsides due to being in the neutral zone at the snap to make us look beatable. It shouldn't bode well for the team who doesn't have those in their corner. Oh that beatable team still won, I guess you can compare it to those golfers who keep saying Tiger Woods looks as beatable as ever yet the smart better would still take him over the field.

SD is already in trouble. 12-4 wins their divison. But count one of the four losses next week.

Pats 24
Chargers 17

We have plenty of time to talk about the biggest game of the season, November 4th :)

I know the Bears defense is nasty but my God.. SD couldn't do anything.

the secondary is nothing special but that's where the pressure on the qb comes in, and the 3 ints vs brady

the question is will san diego hand the game to NE again like last year, recently in the ne sd series we're what 2-1 vs them?

anyway this is a meaningless regular season game, it doesn't even matter if we beat NE in NE in the regular season, been there , done that.

the only thing that matters is the playoffs, this is just killing time.

1) Brady won't throw 3 picks next week, your secondary is borderline horrible. I also can assure you that Phillips won't come into the backfield completely unblocked.

2) I don't remember them handing anything to the Pats last year. I remember the Patriots taking a victory from SD. ;)

3) Right, but the games played in the "killing time" period affect where those playoff games are played.

you played the jets and we played the bears

you guys only beat them 17-13 in NE last season

..... and we did everything to lose to them too (5 turnovers I think). I wouldn't use last season as a bench mark either. After watching both games all the way through, our Patriots aren't the same team as last year (on the good side), and you guys aren't the same team either (in a not so good way). You won that game cuz Wrex sucks at QB, plain and simple.

wait till you play a team who actually puts pressure on the babymaker

3 ints anyone?

If we bring that same O-line next week that we had today, and you bring those pathetic DB's..................... you're in for a long day.

Have fun with Moss, he's seems out to prove sopmething this year. ;)

my point is, NE looked very beatable last time we played them
my point might be: you should have looked at the final score to see how beatable we were, but actually my point was: who cares how teams looked last year. Your 14-2 is history. It is gone. You are now 1-0, thanks in part to the worst starting QB in the NFL.

What someone said was that the Chargers looked beatable today, and they did. Maybe they'll play better next week. Maybe you are satisfied with Tomlinson and River's performance and think it is good enough to beat the Pats. I think that any team with a half-decent QB would have put up some serious points today against you.

All I know is that Jets posters are no longer bothering us, and in a couple weeks the Chargers posters will be gone also.

Talk about jumping the gun here. By watching one game it's obvious the Pats are better and the Chargers are worse? You have a lot to learn about how the NFL works.

San Diego looked VERY beatable all day - The defense gave up several good gains from Grossman to Berrian - Jammer and Co. was having problems all day covering Berrian and Muhammed and if it were not for the stupid FO of the Bears letting Thomas Jones go they probably would have won this game,Cedric Benson and Adrian Peterson are NOT the answer to losing Jones. and the running game appears to be a future problem in the windy city.

Several things about this game come to mind - The ******ed call by Lovie sending a below average back like Adrian Peterson (NO he cannot be compared to the likely future great in Minnesota - only by name) into a running formation during a crucial 4th down and 3 instead of going to either a screen pass or a short out to Berrian - of course Petersen got absolutely nowhere and that was the part of the game that virtually ended the Bears hopes of the upset.

The Bears defense played good enough to beat any team in the NFL today but the offensive calls were - Well 'offensive' for much of this game.

Berrian should have been used even more than he was - He was by far the best player on that field on the offensive side and on the defensive side Briggs,Urlacher and Harris were amazing run stuffers all game,Ladanian almost looked human until the Bears front 7 wore down late and Tomlinson came around a bit.

The bottom line is that if SD plays like they did offensively for 3 quarters of the game next week like they did this week it may not even be a close game - I do expect a much better effort from Rivers and earlier efforts from Tomlinson and expect the game to go right down to the wire - We don't have the defense Chicago has but I think we can keep the Chargers offense under somewhat controlled a bit.

I was thinking this exact thing while watching the game today. If SD plays like they did today next week, the game will not be close.

LOL. What's the point?

Every week is different, different opponent, different dynamics and variables. Anything can happen. Don't get so hung up on what happened in week 1. It's over and means nothing now.

Sure I do  ....................... If you don't think this Patriot team is upgraded from last year you did not see the game......... If you think the Chargers played well today (as they did all last regular season) ...... You’re a homer.

This was a divisional game for us, and outside of Buffalo, as a rule, we are so familiar with each other that we generally play fairly well fought battles in the regular season (not the playoff's ;) ), even if our collective team sucks. Proof is how the Donks seem to beat us once a year no matter how much they suck. So yeah, I absolute BLOW-OUT to a team we usually pay much closer to, is not trivial. Plus, the score board said 38-14, but it 2 plays from being 48-14. We also wasted the entire last quarter too

It's all right to be a homer, but don't be dumb and deny the obvious..........

One game is one game, and I certainly expect the Chargers to show up next week, but today, you looked ordinary.

See ya next week ;)

Yes but, IMO, there's nothing wrong with using one weeks game to project what the next weeks game MAY bring, based on how the teams perform as a whole.

Isn't that what we're basically doing here in the first place?:D

Tomlinson looked human today and it was one of his lowest yardage days ever

I do not expect Tomlinson to have consecutive bad games as I expect he will get his usual 140 yards against us,He has NEVER had a bad game against NE - We just need to get to Rivers and it will be O.K.

LT didn't play at all in the preseason and that might have affected him somewhat, as he himself admitted. We'll see a more game conditioned player next weekend.

Agreed, I expect more from LT next week, as well. Rivers did not look al that good.

Actually, I was speaking more about SD defensively. I'm convinced had any other QB but Rex been out there, SD would have been playing from behind ALL DAY, putting a bigger burden on Rivers, who didn't look up to the challenge (at least not today).

I'm also not a Norv fan.............

Am I the only one who thinks Ted Cottrell is a poor DC?

I saw the game too-they got VERY little pressure on Rex(sure, a couple of sacks, but he had time to throw 90% of the time), and they also had some nice lanes to run through, as well as some nice screen passes-but sadly, Benson/Pederson is NOT going to get it done-the 2 boneheaded fumbles by them costed the Bears this game. T. Jones would NOT have done this. And just as bad, if Benson showed a tad bit more patience, he would have had nice yardage on screen passes.

BTW-Norv Turner showed why he's a poor head coach-Adam Archeletta SUCKS in coverage, but was nonetheless shocked by how few times they threw to him(alot like how he ignored Randy Moss late in games in Oakland).

NE won't make these mistakes. Bank on it.

What are you talking about? Those clowns COMBINED for less than a hundred yards receiving. Coles and Cotchery lit you fools up for 116

Once again check your facts you have no idea what the hell you are talking about

4-1-SD35 (6:08) C.Benson up the middle to SD 35 for no gain (I.Olshansky, L.Castillo).

If your predictions are any wear near as accurate as your analysis It's going to be another SD beatdown in new england.

It WOULD have been 10-0 at halftime if Berrian hadn't run the wrong route in the endzone(that resulted in a pick)-otherwise, the corner against Berrian was a mismatch, and it would have gone for 6.
