I wanted to get in my thoughts before the charger clowns come out to talk trash about next week's game.

The Pats looked very sharp today. Couple of mistakes in the first half that kept it close otherwise this game would have been over sooner. But your O/D lines were stout. Thomas was everywhere and Green looks like a very capable fill in for Seymour. Moss was a force and Welker is clearly going to catch a lot of passes. Nice catch by Watson in the back of the end zone. Maroney/Morris/Faulk is one of the best backfields in the league. And, of course, Hobbs showed his talent.

I know it's only one game, against an overmatched team (credit to BB&co of course), but I thought you guys really made a statement to the rest of the league today. If we don't get after Brady we have no chance next week. Even then—the Patriots are going to be very tough to beat in 2007.

Thanks for the kind words.

Obviously we're excited about Moss among a lot of other good things that happened today but personally I just see it as one important division and conference win. As I was saying earlier in the week, I don't want to get too excited or too down about anything that happens in Week 1.

Next week will be a big one between us. It could decide where we play each other if we meet in the playoffs.

Next week is definitely going to be a tough (grudge match) game. Looking forward to it.

Thanks for the compliments. Going to be an interesting game next weekend. I think San Diego will be VERY VERY good again as well.

interesting to see if we have Thomas covering Gates or will we use Gay/Meriweather/Wilson

I don't know. rumor is we might CUT Moss this week. He missed the preseason and didn't get a chance to gel with Brady. HE might be a distraction for us in the Locker TOO ;)

It'll be fun next week. This is NOT the same team you faced last year.

Nice kind words though and from a Charger fan Straight up cool. Good luck this week.

Excited about the win and feel VERY positive about the season....That being said we have some things to tighten up and work on before next week......and I fully expect to see YOUR team there in the playoffs again.......The Chargers are going to have a good year this year......enjoy the ride......Thanks for the great post..........Go Pats!!!!

Chargers are one of the only teams that really scare me this year. I expect them to KILL Chicago tonight.

good luck, at least until next week. ;)

I dont. I kind of expect an upset. But the Charger should win this.

I think the Chargers will terrorize the Bears and Rex Grossman.
I've seen that kid respond poorly to pressure too many times to expect him to pull out the win.

That being said, 1-0 team vs 1-0 team. It's going to be interesting.
I know you Chargers fans are looking for payback, but I wouldn't count to heavily on that. IE don't bet money on the Chargers on the road!
Looking forward to the game.
Of course I think we're going to win but that's just cos I haven't seen the latest injury reports yet! ;)

Next week will determine the direction of both teams this year, IMO.

If the game is close, then two good teams.

If the games is a blow out, different story.

I don't really know what to expect just based on beating an overrated team like the Jets.

It was a nice start. :)

Well I wasn't as impressed with the Chargers tonight. I liked their tenacity and physicality on both sides of the ball. It was a mature win but we'll have to do better next week to have a shot at beating the Pats.

LOLOLOL. Well played, young sir.

Charger fan here. You guys looked VERY impressive today, it looks like you've made all the right moves this offseason, and are going to be THE force in the nfl yet again. Next week will be a GREAT game and i'm looking forward to it. Here's to an injury free match-up.

It should be a hell of a game. After relaxing in the 4th quarter this week I don't expect that luxury in 7 days :)

What concerns me is that New England seems to like to toss in one terrible game every year against a good team, even in the 14-2 seasons, and I don't think the revenge game against the Colts is where it's likely to happen. Coming off a win like this week with a Chargers team that's hungry for revenge and looking to play much better than it just did, I could see a major problem here if the Patriots read too many newspapers.

I have no doubts in my mind that LT will give the front 7 fits and will very likely accrue 125 yards rushing or more.

LT simply NEVER has 2 bad games in a row in his career in terms of low yardage -thats a fact

What will determine the outcome of this game is that our D-Line must dominate the Chargers O-Line in order to win this game and that means lots of pressure on Rivers because I think Tomlinson runs wild on sunday night even if their O-line is overmatched,If Rivers gets harassed and makes errant ill advised throws I can see Hobbs and Samuel going the other way - Stopping Rivers is the key to this game,They won't stop LT- He has always been tough on the Pats D

I agree that they usually have have one bad game a year ( with 16 it's almost inevitable) but I wouldn't agree that it's against a good team. In the two 14-2 years there were 4 losses, Buff, Wash, - neither of whom as a good team, Miami- flat out ugly loss to a bad team ( better to get it out of the system before the playoffs) and Pittsburgh ( a very good team) but the Pats were extremely banged up with Dillon out and IIRC the secondary took some injuries before and in that game, so it wasn't a badly played game but one with an undermanned corps of players.

I expect we will play well against a very good team, Merriman opened his big mouth as did others will provide great bulletin board material, this will be a very good game, do not see a letdown here at all.
