Bruins 2016-1017 Thread

Anton Khudobin back on a 2 year deal ...

Bruins have on defense:
Liles, Krug, Zdeno Chara, Kevan Miller and Adam McQuaid
Sweeney needs to sign a top 4 guy to that unit or we will still suck.

Gone:
Gustavsson to the the Edmonton Oilers
Brett Connolly to the Washington Capitals
Zach Trotman to the Kings
Lee Stempniak to the Carolina Hurricanes

All stiffs ...

An unimpressive effort by this once mighty and revered franchise..

Descend into hockey mediocrity..

Krug: overpaid, but what choice did they have, though they probably could've shaved a couple of M off that contract, if Sweeney actually knew what he was doing.

Liles: an older, softer version of Krug. I would not have re-signed him even for the vet minimum; I would rather have one of the kids in his spot instead.

Backes: a ridiculously over-paid, old, redundant vet. I would rather have given Kyle Okposo that for which he signed in Buffalo.

This joke of an organization actually believes that they can be a legit contender next season.

Unfortunately, the joke's on us.

I have no idea what the hell that team is thinking with regards to its defensemen. Bringing back Miller and Liles must have been something decided after drinking a couple of 1.75L bottles of rum/vodka.

The Chia-Pet's parting gift to Bruins fans: Brett Connolly, at the cost of not one but two 2nd-round picks, both of which are guaranteed to be in the top half of those rounds.

Un-feckin-believe-able.

That "defense"(snicker) is easily - easily - the worst in hockey.

It's funny..people will blame Rask yet again this upcoming year for losing games...same with CJ..but look at the D in front of him and as a coach..

If CJ gets this team to the playoffs with THIS D...coach of the year in my book..that task is nearly impossible

But the Clod will insist on playing those lousy vets - Chara, Liles, McQuaid, KMiller - ahead of anybody else who might show potential but are still prone to youthful mistakes.

He's also part of the problem.

Cam is the biggest issue on this team..he is the one pulling all the strings. I still feel like Clod is a puppet in certain situations with management on who to play.

big day tomorrow. where will jimmy vissey go? from reports I've heard not the bruins.:(

I think we saw bizarro Bruins lat night. Youth (a lot of it) was allowed to make mistakes without getting yanked off the ice.

Keep that up, Clode.

P.S. It was just one game, but I thought the young kids held up fairly well for playing in a season opener. Colin Miller was probably the best defenseman on the ice, Pastr looked like he was fine on the top line, the two rookie D-men struggled early but settled down, and Czarnick and Heinen both had their moments.

Marchand was melting the ice last night he was on fire.

Too bad the Ruins don't play Columbus every game.

True, but they took out Winnipeg tonight.

It's only 3 games into a long season, but it already looks as if the fans were right: It was time, and past time, to force Clode to play the kids.

I saw the Ruins-Rangers game last night because it was shown on NBCSN. The first 1-1/2 periods were ok, but then the flood-gates opened and there was nothing to be done.

The "talent" level of this team is that of a lottery participant.
On defense: Liles is both old and terrible; McQuaid is a dinosaur; Carlo isn't ready; and Kevin Miller just plain sucks. Chara, Krug & Colin Miller, aka their best defensemen, would be 3rd-pairing guys on a legit contender.
On offense: the 2nd, 3rd & 4th lines are the worst of the Clod Julien era. Having Backes & Vatrano return, eventually, will help (I would place those two with Spooner on the 3rd line), but the mere fact that Frankie Vatrano will now be counted-upon
to provide scoring shows just how far this franchise has fallen.
In the net: Rask needs to be traded before he loses it completely; Khoudobin sucks; McIntyre isn't ready; and Subban is pure, rancid garbage, just as I predicted he would be (thanks ChiaPet).

Otherwise, this franchise is in terrific shape.

I'm just happy that Julien's been sitting Colin Miller. If he'd kept playing him, Boston might have done something terrible, like losing 4 out of the last 5, or something.
