For the 2016 Pats to be in/win SB 51 the D has to improve ALOT

Wait you actually think denver was better on offense than Carolina. Im done debating this.

And he dodges the question again!

Scoreboard says more points for Denver against the vaunted (by your metric) Carolina defense - which was WAY better than the 21st ranked 3rd down efficiency Denver defense last year BTW.

Wait, you actually think Carolina's offense won the last Super Bowl?

Denver was not 21st on 3rd down last year, and again if you think Denver had a better offense than Carolina last year, you just dont know what you are talking about

Wait....this is a real thread? With 10 pages worth of content? WTF? There is one stat that matters for a defense, points allowed. That's what defense is, stopping the other guy from scoring. Yeah picks, sacks, TFL and fumbles caused are sexy and certainly help the offense to win the game but at the end of the day as BB says "stats are for losers, the scoreboard is for winners." Right now the pats defense is top 5 in the only way that matters and they need to Improve ALOT?!?!?! No wonder people say NE fans are spoiled and entitled. "************"

Not necessarily. Points allowed is not the" only stat that matters" because you have to look at the teams and offenses you're playing. The Patriots defense has allowed huge chunks of yardage to mediocre quarterbacks, mediocre offenses, and in multiple cases BACKUP quarterbacks. Every time they mention an opposing quarterback's stats I swear they're 13/15 or completed their last 11 passes straight or something. In more than a few cases the Pats defense has been bailed out by unforced offensive errors, penalties, or missed field goals. Yes, those mediocre offenses weren't able to take advantage, but the Pats D can't depend on that in the playoffs.

Look at what's happening in this Steelers game. Below average defending against a backup quarterback in Landry Jones who's barely played (if at all?). It's too easy to gain chunks of yardage on this supposedly good defense. Against a good offensive team it's really concerning because they'll take advantage of all the opportunities afforded by the ease with which they can move the ball.

Props to you. Sometimes it takes watching the game to realize it. The PPG thing is nice and all but... who have we faced? This pass rush is a huge issue. If it doesn't get fixed, it'll be our fatal flaw.

dafaq Luandry Jones has more yds than..

Yea, this team sucks. Gave up 16 points :D

Stop. You saw the pass rush, it's good that they aren't allowing many points right now, but the issues with the pass rush are more than clearly evident.

We won't be facing Landry Jones and Charlie Whitehurst in January.

Come on...they weren't trying to rush the passer. They were trying to clog the LOS and limit Bell.

I would like to stop seeing Logan Ryan constantly being the player who make announcers say "Ryan has great position, XX just make a great catch!" People rarely say that about Butler. Ryan is going to be a highly paid disappointment in FA.

I am sure we will see the squealers again.

But, but, but, they where only rushing 3

The Patriots are now allowing 15.2ppg heading into the 1/2 way point of the 2016 season.

We all know the D is not perfect and this was a depleted Steelers squad.

We also know this is a classic BB bend don't break defense.

We have enough sampling to tell us this is an above -average defense.

Overall, you have to be pleased with the results.

Ah, did you notice that Pats were only rushing 3?

The defense definitely took a step forward today benching Logan Ryan.

It remains to be seen if it's good enough come january. Maybe they can add a pass
rusher through trade.

It would be nice if you took the pom poms off once in awhile.
I just call it like I see it. I am pretty objective and the D is solid. They are not giving up points.

You keep up the negativity. Its clearly projecting.
