2017 Draft Prospect Thread

I am all in on Garrett. I really think he is a generational talent at DE. If whoever is picking first drafts either kizer kaaya or Watson, will regret it immensely.

I don't have the same concerns about run defense, but he definitely has room to grow. He holds up his blocker well, but a little more patience would be nice to see.

He's also going to be one of the youngest players in the draft, which is nothing but a positive for his potential growth still.

I echo @BaconGrundleCandy about his team first attitude. He really seems incredibly poised, and well spoken. He just screams patriot player to me, so it's unfortunate we won't have a chance to see him as a Pat til he's in his mid 30s.

Even if some team traded the first overall pick to us, I would put the chances of keeping it at about 10%.

Again agreed 100%

Again I see him as a cross between Peppers and Ware. Just a freak. We'd never keep it but man hes perfect for us.

Everything you'd want and more. If I'm a gm it's not even close between him and the QB class.

My question about engram, what position does he play in our offense. I think he will be a good pro, I just don't see the fit if they are bringing Bennett back.

Hernandez was criticized for his blocking, but he always had plus plus athleticm for a move TE. I think engram is a step below as a blocker and receiver. That's not a big shot, since AH should've been our best receiver, but without even AHs blocking, I don't see him cutting it inline.

Basically, for me, if you are drafting him, you think he can take over amendolas role. That will be the only position they will be drafting this year imo. Engram could be a monster underneath, but I also doubt his route running which won't work in that role.

Engram will end up around 30-50th in the draft, and there is no way I see the value at that stage for us. A team like Denver could use him quite a bit more than we can.

See if I think he's perfect for us in every way.

Rotational TE/Flex, slot. Keep him out of the fray. Hes not a guy you want with his hand in the dirt.

He'd be perfect in the sense that both Bennett, Gronk, Edelman are getting older. I think he's an a big upgrade from Dola. His style is a perfect fit. High floor and Ceiling. So versatile.

Seattle, NO and Phila would be great fits too imo.

What are your views on Derek Barnett. I haven't watched him yet but he's getting very positive reviews on twitter.

I can't speak for Fletcher, but Barnett is a bit of an enigma to me. Some plays he looks unblockable with speed around the edge; other plays, he seems to just lumber into place and do nothing. I know that pass rushers don't have a super high success rate, but to me it's the body language and effort that is all over the place. That's almost impossible to judge without knowing scheme, coaching, personality, etc.

At his best, he's very similar to Sheard, and an athletic upgrade. I'm not sold on him yet, however. We'll see how he does for the rest of the season. I expect him to test very well at the Combine, but I just wished he would display more urgency on the field throughout the duration of the game.

I was trying to search for words on him, but that about sums it up. I can see why he's very attractive and moving up boards, but I am left with as many questions as answers. He seems like the type of guy you draft in the top 10, and then are drafting another pass rusher the next two years.

He seems to hold up the edge incredibly well, I can say that for sure. I just wish I saw something more often when I watched him.

He is also incredibly young, like Garrett, so there could be a couple more gears he can shift to, but I don't see any way I could be talked in to a top 10 pick for him. I think there is Myles Garrett, and about 5-6 other ends that you could take anywhere from 10-50 depending on fit. For the Pats, I still like Tim Williams quite a bit more, and he's probably closer to 50th pick range at this stage.

Like Williams. Showed some power recently which is nice. He could be something, especially in the 2nd.

If they think the player is better than the trade, they'll take the player (see: Brown, Malcom).

Sure, but in this hypothetical situation, the pick is the most over valued asset in the league. As much as I love Garrett, if an offer was made similar to what we have seen top picks go for, I can't see BB liking any prospect that much.

Agreed.

Although I think Garrett is worth the pick imo.

I have to say I was ready to break out the Nke comparison but hes proved me wrong.

Basically it's all about consistency with him. Will he find himself on a team with the right coach and leadership around him?

Needs to be in the right situation but if he finds himself there I can see a legit player.

Jalen Reeves Maybin.... Hes been hurt, Probably does not fit what we like to do, but I think he will be very good for a team who puts him in position to succeed. Also I really like raekwon Mcmillian, Although I have concerns about what he can do on 3rd down in coverage

Wonder if Wilson declares this year. Supremely talented.

I saw this yesterday actually. Hes been great this year and that is one stat that speaks volumes. Him and Tabor are quite the duo.

Wilson reminds me a lil bit of a poor man's Talib?

Ive watched Tennessee games all year, Barnett is a game changer, atleast in college. Tennessee probably is not even a 500 team without him

Exactly the comp I am working off.

His physicality is legit for an outside guy.

Nice comp for Wilson. I figure we'll lose one of Ryan or Butler, so corner is definitely on my radar.

Speaking of the secondary, Eddie Jackson fractured his leg today. While I don't think it will have long term effects, it will probably prevent him from participating in the senior bowl and possibly the combine. He might be available later than he would if otherwise healthy.

Glad the comp works. It's tough coming up with them and I hate throwing big names out there but I thought it fits.

This cb class tho?

Sutton, Humphrey, Tabor, Summers, King, Lewis, White, Tank, Clark, Cutrer, Myrick, Jackson, Lattimore, Conley and on ...

Humphrey reminds me a lil bit of Chris McAlister?

CB is most definitely gunna on our radar. This class has some serious depth.

Most years, teams are over drafting guys in the secondary to try and fit holes. Not this year. There are a legit 25 guys going in the top 3 rounds this year.

For my money, give me Conley, Jones and Wilson as the top of the corner market.

Humphrey from Alabama looked really good against Texas a&m. Not sure he falls to us at 32 but he looks custom made for our defense.
