I don't feel sorry for them. We've probably missed out on 2 or 3 Super Bowls during this run because of injuries. That's not really my point. My point is that I think many here had this game circled on the calendar since the preseason as a a barometer for how good this defense will be and with Ben out, we won't be as tested. Looking at the schedule and knowing the AFC landscape, I don't think any team will present a tougher matchup until the playoffs. I think there really is an element of being "battle tested" in football and teams that are battle tested seem to be more mentally tough and do better in the playoffs.

Of course there is a positive side to this: if we win this game, the only team that really has a shot at keeping the Pats from the #1 seed is *gasp* the Bills. I very much like our chances to have HFA and ultimately that is the goal; I just wish that we could get HFA while this D proves we can take down a formidable offense.

I understand what you are saying but nothing the only thing that matters in January is the seeding and health of the team. All those indicators of how good a team is during the regular season don't help if you pick up key injuries along the way. In other words, I will worry about our relative strengths and weaknesses once we are in the playoffs until then it's only wins and health that counts.

Yeah I'm sorry...people never felt sorry for us in 08 when Brady went down...never heard or saw a soul say, "Man, I wish the Pats had Brady for this game, it would be a good test"...nope. All I saw was "hahahaha" and memes and crap. I understand not everyone feels that way and the noble thing to do is to say that, absolutely. But I am not at all sorry for any team's fans/players who didn't give a crap when the GOAT went down.
And if the Pats win the SB, no one but us will remember the road and the path it took to get there; they'll remember we got there. That's what's important, I think. Once you get to your destination, then you can reminisce and think about the journey and avenues it took to get there. For me, it's about the destination.

Yes I'm selfish, sue me.

Get well, Ben. As a competitor and someone who played bball my whole life, you want a team fully healthy because the excuses when they aren't is unbearable. But this definitely might bode extremely well for having a leg up (no pun intended) on HFA in the playoffs.

For what it is worth, last week the game at Pittsburgh was listed as even odds, a pick'em.

Between Roethlisberger's injury, the upset at Miami and New England's 18-point victory, this morning the oddsmakers have listed the Patriots as seven-point favorites.

Don't ever feel sorry for any of them. And not even mentioning all the **** they give us about "gates" I hate them. I want Brady to win like 4 or 6 more Super Bowls. Screw them all.

that will Ferrell look-alike and all those Terrible Towel waving, mouth breathing fans can kiss my ass

they were going to lose anyways. now they have an excuse. they should thank the dolphins

It all evens out. The Bills got a cheap win against the Pats playing against the injured third string rookie QB and hopefully the Pats can get a win against the Stiller's backup.

I knew that something would happen to the Steelers as soon as I bought tickets to this game.

I always wait until the week prior to the game, but went against my better judgement. Tickets will be a dime a dozen now as Pitt fans bail.

Heinz field turf fan club t shirts?

Poor taste?

So true.

This is why Bill is always one step ahead. While people complain we use high picks on QBs, we actually have competent backups.

The Steelers on the other hand can't seem to learn from past mistakes, especially when their franchise QB goes down with an injury or two, year in and year out.

Oh come, on. For most of Brady's career we have had backups behind Brady who were garbage. Bill is a genuis. No need to oversell him.

I loathe the Steelers only when it comes to football! Big Ben is one of my favorite QBs to watch outside of Brady! He's easily the 2nd best QB in the AFC! I'll take him over Joe Flukeo any day!

I hate rapists. Call me crazy. I can respect his ability, but that's as far as it goes. I think the guy is garbage and would never root for or respect him as a person. Winston too. Hope he gets paralyzed and ends up in a wheelchair on a street corner begging for change.

Huge advantage for the Pats but disappointing for me, personally. I was looking forward to this game as a true test to see where the defense truly is.

Andy Dalton shredded them for two quarters with a banged up offense. If that's not a good barometer of how bad they are nothing is. I am less concerned with how good they are right now than how good they are in December. We've seen this before. Sometimes they pull it together and improve as the year progresses, sometimes (2005) they don't. I think the D unit is a work in progress.

If the offensive line can get it together and our terrible offensive coordinator can manage to not completely sheet himself this offense is going to be scary once Lewis comes back. I think the defense will be good enough to get the job done. But as last year proved, we are going to need homefield. Losing to a garbage team like Buffalo is going to be painful up until (and if) they clinch the one seed.

I might be in the minority here but I don't think this is such a big break for the Pats. We've typically struggled against QBs that we don't have much tape on and they still have tons of weapons on offense. I don't think it'll be easy.

Also, I'd much rather beat them at full strength. We'll more than likely have to play them in the playoffs and I would like to see how we stack against them at full strength. Big Ben is one tough SOB for coming back into the game and playing on a torn meniscus.

Can't wait to see this game live next weekend!
Do I think Pitt is better with Big Ben? Absolutely, but if anyone thinks going into Pittsburgh is going to be a "cakewalk" because a guy named Landry Jones is starting hasn't been paying attention. I like our chances even better, but I expect a close game regardless.

Some people are upset that Ben isn't playing next week? **** that. Other fans love when they play us and we have guys hurt. Injuries have cost us a Super Bowl in 2007, 2011, 2012, and 2015. I don't give a **** if we play 3 teams in the playoffs who are ravaged with injuries. Just win baby. Just makes it easier for our team to win and I'm good with that.

I just quickly rewatch how Jones played vs the Cards. He had 2 TDs..

One set up by a turnover which put the ball at the 30 and a run which put it at the 10 and another which is a 8 yard pass underneath that the WR made into an 88 yard TD on a sick play.

He actually had a few good FG drives but nothing in that game made me worried really. As long as the Pats play their B game or better this is an easy win i think.

I like how the schedule looks right now.

Beat Pitt and get that tie breaker. Pats will be ready for this game cause even without Ben they know if they win this is probably secures at least the #2 Seed.

Then revenge vs the Bills heading into the bye.

Pats have a good reason to be up for both and win both.

What is interesting is Denver happens week 15 which i think it good for the Pats as they know they can't step off the gas till they are past that at least. Even if the Pats are 2 full games up on the Broncos they will play well all year cause they know if they lose to Denver that team will be on their heels the last 2 games.

I can't remember the last time a game so important took place so late.

A late addition to the list of contenders for "worst post of the year" but I do believe this one catapulted straight to the top.
