Ravens lobby for rule change on fumbles

Harbaugh's a baby and needs to learn how to take his losses with dignity.

That said, I do think it's a dumb rule. Why not mark it where he lost control, the same as what happens when it goes out of bounds?
Yeah, while I don't disagree with the overall point of the thread that the Ravens and their coach are whining babies, that rule always seemed extreme to me. You fumble anywhere on the field, kind of the same deal, but it happens to go into the end zone and all hell breaks loose--you lose the ball, touchback...yikes.

Funny how these rules only need a "closer look" after the ravens happen to get the short end of it.

I like the rule. It places extra emphasis on ball security around the goal line, just the way it should be. And its always classic to see a player drop the ball before actually crossing the GL for an easy TD and the other team takes over after it rolls out of the endzone

Honest question: Is there a level of competitive football in which that play wouldn't have been called a touchback for the other team? As far as I know, that's a touchback in high school, it's definitely a touchback in college.

That's what pisses me off about Harbaugh and others. Rules and formations used at lower levels apparently aren't fair once you become a pro. Pathetic.

People who think this rule change would be a good thing forget that teams used to intentionally push the ball out of the end zone. Yeah, that's a penalty too but now you're relying on the refs to see it and call it and I don't know about you but I'm about relying on the referees less, not more.

Yea, how hard would it be to take a note and bring it up next offseason when they are actually reviewing rules instead of in the heat of a loss

There isn't a more gutless, whiny team in the NFL and possibly all of pro sports than the Ravens. I'm pretty sure they meant to name the team the Cravens. Do nothing but beg for PI calls and change the rules when they're too stupid to understand them.

Remember when the Ravens used to be this tough-as-nails team who would smash other teams in the mouth until they lost the will to fight? When guys like Ray "The Murderer" Lewis, Ed Reed, Tony Siragusa, and Bart "The Loud Mouth" Scott would strike fear into opponents before the game even started?

And now look at the Ravens. The biggest crybabies in the nfl

Too funny

The rule they lost on IS kinda stupid, though. Usually Harbaugh is full of **** but he's got a point this time.
Really?

So the failed fake FG, the Ravens punt coverage unit failing, and the WR not getting his second foot down on a crucial play had nothing to do with their loss?

So, what exactly is Harbaugh's point?

They were crybabies then too.

I think we need to review the fake field goal rules, punt coverage rules. And the second foot down rules.

It's called the same as a recovery by the opposing team in the end zone the rule is totally fair. Don't like it hold on to the frigging ball! If you flip the situation around to backed up O and they fumble at their own GL going out and the ball goes out of the end zone should we say it's not a safety? You just get the ball back where you let it go?

Why is it stupid? When the offense fumbles it out of its own EZ it's a safety too.

I was going to agree with Harbaugh until I realized RBs diving for the pylon, arms and ball extended, would essentially have a free option to make a high risk move with little consequence. Fut dat

To pick up on that, this is the play in question:

One of the more dumber fumbles I've seen recently.

Watched that video, can't really understand what the Ravens want changed here like, at all. The guy either fumbles or chucks it towards the goal line. Either way it's a touchback for the Redskins and should be.

What am I missing?

Redskins players who were close to the ball knew immediately that it was a touchback. Who would have guessed they knew it ? On the other hand, Harbaugh didn't know the rule ... SMDH

Frame gate in a nutshell!!! They started it, the NFL got into it too deep and had to save face after F'n up everything else. I will NEVER forgive Hard bawl the NFL or GoTohell. They are just whiney little b!tches. Really. Jeez. Just win by playing better!
