Our pass rush has been somewhat dissapointing thus far. We will see if they
can pick that up.

As I said in the Cooper-cut thread, this has less to do with the DEs but more to do with the LBs and DTs. So far the team hasn't been able to replicate Easley and Hicks' pressure up the middle while the LB corps has suffered from Hightower's injury. Hightower is a very good pass rusher and I also have the impression that his absence/limitations forces the coaching staff to dial back on Collins' blitzes.

I'll accept your apology, or at least acknowledgment, now that Cooper Has been released, that this was a terrible trade.

I have no need to be a revisionist and merit of the deal still holds.

Without a magic 8 ball there is no way to know Cooper gets injured, and with the best OL coach back out of retirement, it's not unreal to imagine he could turn Cooper into a productive lineman. Unfortunate the way it played out.

Still have 2 starters and a cap savings over only Jones. Win.

Fortunate for us patsfans the gap between Belichick with his Econ from Wesleyan and the likeness of Tannenbaum/Grigson is greater than the gap between Tannenbaum/Grigson and your average joe raging behind his keyboard.

Yeah it is sort of aggravating that BB gets rid of anyone who is not a super boy scout, tight-lipped worker bee. In this case it seems like he screwed up. Reminds me of the dump of Michael Vrabel.

Getting high on synthetic pot sealed the deal for him in NE.

his issue has never been his performance to start a season. its always been how hes finished.

he hasn't. lets see if he manages to put 16 good games together

People said the same thing about Talib and he's been nothing but an ironman in Denver, finishing the season strong, never getting hurt.

I totally agree. It's a big pet peeve of mine. BB no doubt is the best coach of all time and a good NFL GM. But I do think he has certain flaws as a GM and this is one of them. Just my opinion.

Some of the best playmakers in the NFL these days are loud outspoken players full of swag and ****iness. If BB is looking for a Boy Scout version of Lawrence Taylor, he ain't gonna find it

Yeah, you're right. Only Boy Scouts here. He dumped Aaron Hernandez before he could take a snap. He didn't mess around with Brandon Spikes, either. And Alfonso Dennard? Never played a snap.

Jones has always been a fast starter - he was one here, so not surprised that that carried over to Atlanta. But more importantly, he's a really good player. We watched him here long enough to know that. He's a very good player who I'm sure Belichick would've liked to keep, but the reality of the cap situation meant he was gone next year anyway. Trading him away was purely a cap move, so the fact that he's performing in Arizona shouldn't really be a surprise or an indictment of the trade.

He was decent but he disappeared in games. The pats could use a guy like Von Miller he makes big plays at the biggest moments in a game.

Not too sure about this. Even if Jones' was founder of 3 Boston charities for terminally ill children, spokesperson for MADD, and recruited people to volunteer for his call center on weekends to recruit even more people to help others by doing community service in their spare time -- given his well publicized financial and contractual circumstances -- he was a goner, no matter what he was smokin' or not smokin.

Vrabel was 34 and just about done.

People said the same thing about Talib and he's been nothing but an ironman in Denver, finishing the season strong, never getting hurt.
That's pure hindsight. What we knew in the 2014 offseason was that Talib was a guy who frequently deals with nagging injuries and has gone out early in two consecutive AFCCGs which turned out to be a back-breaker both times. The Patriots won SB XLIX with Revis so I have no idea why there are people now who second-guess the decision to let Talib go and sign Revis. The team winning a Super Bowl in 2014 is fact. Talib staying healthy, or the Patriots winning a Super Bowl with Talib is pure conjecture.

Last year, the Patriots were one of the best pass rushing teams. It hid the problems in the secondary that are showing up this year. Keeping Chanler Jones for another year probably would have been a good idea.

One of the best pass rushing teams?

I dont think you were watching the right team last year.

What problems do we have in the secondary? I honestly think some people in their obsession over stats have lost track over the most important thing which are wins.

I would have preferred if we had gotten a 1st rounder back instead of Cooper and a 2nd. Not really surprised by his success, Jones was always solid and the Pats defense doesn't lead to very high glamor stats but Jones was not our best defender and was due for a significant pay bump.

Better 1 year early than to lose him for nothing. Wish him nothing but the best as long as he's not playing against us.

im sure bill wanted to keep chandler, it was just question of him being odd man out with needing to resign collins, butler, and hightower in the near future. i wouldnt trade any of them for him back.

Jones was not a leader.

Leaders dont get all drugged up and show up at the police station. Kraft encourages all Pats players to perform charity work.
