Karma is a *****

McNair and his 'JJ wouldn't destroy his phone' comes home to roost

Hahaha this feels like a Peyton move... "oh, I didn't REALLY get manhandled, I was actually playing through injury... an injury so bad it could keep me out all year! ... which I will now miraculously recover from, because I'm so tough."

Lol..........let's see how long he's out first...

McNair and his 'JJ wouldn't destroy his phone' comes home to roost

To summarize the culprits who were known to support the Brady suspension:

  • Jim Irsay loses Andrew Luck for the season in 2015 and loses by double digits to the Patriots, though Luck did play in that game.
  • Steve Bisciotti loses Joe Flacco for the season in 2015.
  • Jerry Jones loses Tony Romo for the season in 2015, where they lost by double digits to the Patriots, and possibly 2016.
  • Bob McNair loses multiple quarterbacks for the season in 2015 and then loses JJ Watt (who he boasted about) for the season in 2016 due to an injury sustained to the Brady-less Patriots, a game they lost by double digits.
Yes, I would be interested to see a more compelling, if not overwhelming, case of karma.

We've ruined that team so many times over the last few years. It's almost not even fair. Almost.

I feel so bad for him. It couldn't happen to a nicer, more genuine and humble guy.

Seriously though, he loves an excuse doesn't he, not saying he's not hurt atm, but his ego is wouldn't ever let him play badly without having some reason for it. The most "look at me and love me" guy in the league.

I previously mentioned how surprised that I was that Watt wouldn't start the year on PUP. I think it was a terribly irresponsible decision on the part of the Texans.

We basically had the same surgery about 3 weeks apart (diskectomy to repair herniated disk), and although he's an established athlete with much more strength than my 5'9" 170 lb frame, I couldn't figure out for the life of me how he could possibly run, jump, and take on hits.

Although there's always the risk in the future, the risk of re-herniation drops dramatically after the initial 3 month recovery period. Since Watt reportedly had the surgery sometime in early-mid July, a stay on PUP would've allowed him to get past that all important 12 week period where his odds of staying healthy would have improved tremendously. To say the Texans gambled and lost would be an understatement.

yet somehow he doesnt get the **** that other diva players get

i feel his pain. i had a bad herniated disc after a car accident. i couldn't bend, couldn't run, and even sitting was a pain. it's not something you can't play through. once that hit that nerve spot it feels like lightening has struck on your back

And the sciatica down the leg and foot! Holy ****!

You can play with bad knees, ankles and even AC joints (we hope). You CANNOT play with a bad back. To bad, he's a great player and a particular binkie of mine when he came out. And about a month before the draft it looked like he might drop to us or at least be within 5 spot range where it would be possible to get him with a reasonable trade Within 3 weeks it became clear he was going in the top half of the first round and completely out of our reach. IIRC we went to Houston at 11, and after good but not spectacular rookie season, he's been the best defensive football player in the league....until now. BTW- PFT is reporting he's going on IR.

We had the 17 (Solder) and 28 (traded to N.Orleans who took Ingram) picks that year, so there was some chatter about trading up to get Watt. I'd love to know if it was ever a realistic possibility. I'm guessing that Belichick felt that it wasn't.

You're correct. He went at 11 to Houston.

Well looks like he's done for the season. Way to go Texans . Rushed back your best defensive player and now your defense takes a serious hit. They couldn't wait a few weeks?

I think the first objective that season was to find Matt Light's replacement. I had forgotten we had the 17 pick that year (we are so rarely that high in the draft). It would have been interesting to see what would have happened if Watt had fallen to 17. My impression is the BB believes that finding that top DLman is harder than finding a top OLman. He probably would have gone that way.....and all things being equal, JJ Watt would have been on the PUP list as a Patriot to start this season.

This sucks. There is no replacing a guy like him. He's just the most dominant defensive player in the league, and with a potential chronic injury.

He is special to watch in the same way gronk is. Just full on motor and the best physical profile to match.

Hope he comes back fully healthy and ready to dominate again.

I think it was a terribly irresponsible decision on the part of the Texans.

Rapaport was speculating on NYJFL* Network that it was Watt who was pushing for a week 1 return and the team went along with it. Still doesn't absolve the Texans of their part in not holding Watt back.

Not that he isn't a great player, but has JJ Watt ever had a good game against the Patriots? I can't recall him ever being much of a factor.

On the stat sheet no, not really. but he has given Brady one or two big hits. And he had that great hustle running Woodhead down from behind and forcing a fumble into the endzone which Brandon Lloyd recovered for a TD.

The Pats have done a fairly decent job in neutralizing him.

Lets hope it help them loose alot... fire BOB only so he can rejoin the staff and become OC when Josh leaves ;)
