Jets 0-7????? Let's hope

The Jets DOMINATED the Bills last night. Rex's Bills were undisciplined (surprise) and inept in many areas. The Ryan Bros. are done as HC candidates IMO, barring ignorant owners, of whom there are a few. On the other hand, the Jets are moving in the right direction, I think. They're not the BB coached Patriots, but their ascendance can help to battle test the Pats and that is an absolute necessity to forge a Super Bowl Champion. Cupcakes cannot help to do this.

the jets didn't dominate anyone.........they just got 'outincompetenced'

the bills can't field a starting defense......it will help when dareus gets back, but most guys are rejects from other places and the CB's are getting hung out to dray because the defense can't afford to do anything more than single cover the outside.....and the Tyrod Taylor mystery has been solved....they're screwed

What's HILARIOUS is the utter collapse of Ryan's vaunted defense. Is he gonna fire his brother? Epic!

It's not his fault......Dareus can't keep from getting suspended and his top 2 draft picks (Lawson and Ragland) are injured.......I wouldn't put it all on him

I think he's a joke of a coach, but I actually feel bad for him a little too

I think the Jets are a lot better than people around here are giving them credit for.

It helps when you don't get get punished for your your own transgressions, and get to keep your draft picks and tampered with players, while the league hamstrings your opposition by imposing draconian penalties for fabricated offenses.

The owner gave Ryan an ultimatum before the season started Playoffs or bust. When was the last time the Bills made the Playoffs the Jim Kelly/Thurman Thomas era???

...They are not that deep to sustain all these early injuries Rex will now be a DC for life.

I was surprised that Rex went from one AFC East team to another after he got canned in New Jersey. I thought he could have afforded to take a (paid) year off, done some media (he'd be a great talking head) and then looked around for another job as HC, outside the Division and maybe outside the Conference.

I think he needed a year to learn from his mistakes and that he needed to get away from a Division that was going to be dominated by BB and TB for at least another two or three years.

I really think that a lot of teams would have given him a chance, if he'd just taken a break and been able to look Owners in the eye and say that he had learned from his experience...but maybe he's just not a self-reflective guy.

In any case, I agree with you. I think he'll now have to earn his next shot at an HC job by building a winning D someplace else.

I like it, although I probably would've gone more conservative and teased both games.

NYJ +6 and HOU-1 sounds much better to me, even if it doesn't pay as well. Either way, congrats.

I was really scared of the -8. I was really scared they would win by 7

I gotta say.....I does piss me off when I watch Fitzpatrick just throw the ball up for grabs down the field to guys on the outside like Marshall and Decker.

Lets hope that Hogan and Mitchell can do something close

I think the Falcons were thinking of hiring him as well.

I have no idea what they saw in him, or from his 1st HC job with the Rats, that would lead any team to believe he was HC material, or that he was what a team wanted as the face (mouth) of their franchise.

He is a dumpster fire for hire.

Why do watching 50/50 balls that could just as easily go the other way piss you off?

I live in NYC and so I'm forced to pay more attention to the Jersey Jets than I'd like.

I think the real "dumpster fire" in New Jersey is Woody Johnson.

Rex also had two years of John Idzik (or, as I refer to him "Isdick") as GM. Even then, he took the team to the AFCCG two years in a row (I assume you're not going to give The Rat credit for those teams or I'll reassess my otherwise high opinion of your posts) and had only the Sanchize and Geno to work with, with a side serving of Tebow.

I think Ryan deserved another go as an HC after leaving that trash heap, but definitely should have gotten away from Belichick and Brady, and taken a paid year away from the sidelines on the Sunday shows. He calmed down after his first couple of years and is a smart, "players' coach."

But, it will be an academic question if this season tanks, as it looks like it will for Buffalo. He'll have to earn his way back to an HC job as a DC.

Why do watching 50/50 balls that could just as easily go the other way piss you off?

Because I firmly believe throughout Brady's career that when he throws deep downfield he always OVER THROWS his small / slow receivers so that there is no risk of the pass being picked off.

Guys like Edelman and Welker while very quick, simply don't have the height, strength, or top speed to separate down the field.

If Brady had a couple guys on the outside even 80% of what guys like Marshall & Decker...I really believe the Pats offense would score on just about every possession.

Those balls last night were 70/30 with the way the Bills covered last night.

Brady did that even when he had Moss. One of the better aspects of his game is that he rarely makes stupid throws that could lead to turnovers. Those kinds of 50/50 balls are exactly the reason why Fitzpatrick's INT rate is so high throughout his career even though he's worked with some quality WR's in their primes. Brady tends to be more precise.

I think it's cap thing. Those guys command a pretty major premium, both of them make substantially more than any of our receivers or TEs. As a result the Jets are paying $17.5 against the cap for Marshall and Decker, while we're paying $19.4M against the cap for Hogan, Edelman, Amendola and Gronk. Decker and Marshall are very good players, but for what we would have to give up to fit them under the cap I'll pass.

It's not just about being precise, it's about allowing your receivers to get into open territory and make a play. If that can't happen, there is no harm in a deep ball gone to far. It's akin to throwing one out of bounds on a blitz. The mindset is that the defense has to respect the deep ball, cause this QB is gonna throw it. The result is that our run game and short passing game benefit. Dink and Dunk can only happen if the other barn door is left wide open.

Agree 100% with all that. It's what the "dink and dunk" System QB....clowns don't seem to get. Brady's genius is his pre-snap reads making sure they are in the right play. I always find myself explaining to people that Brady getting rid of the ball so fast isn't so much physical as mental. He knows where he is going with the ball before the ball is even snapped.

I was simply pointing out that it would be nice to have some guys that could kick that extra safety out of the box and leave some room for error a few times a game where Brady can take some chances without having to be perfect with his deeper throws
