Sorta-OT: Ben Watson

That's a shame. Very sorry to hear that. Was he part of the Ravens crew this year? If so, there's a small silver lining right there.

It's pretty God damned conclusive to someone objective with eyes...the officials blew this, and unfortunately it had a huge effect on the game and the outcome.

A ref even obstructed Ben too...

The ball clearly left Bailey's hand before crossing the plane of the goal line. Way before they hit the pylon.

We might have lost the game anyway, but we'll never know.

Legendary play. Love that guy's heart. Here's to you, brother Ben! All the best and God bless.

Just saw it, sucks hard for him. Great player, hopefully he can come back and end his career on a higher note. Who knows, Terrell Suggs tore his own achilles week 1 last year and looks pretty good in the same game. Maybe he can hook Watson up with some of that "deer antler spray", or whatever the Ravens are passing around that definitely isn't HGH.

From an on-the-field perspective, this injury really screws the Ravens, and I'm not going to pretend to feel sorry for them on that front.

Feel terrible for him. This would be year 12 in the league, which for a TE who has never been a force offensively, is really impressive.

Hate to see anyone go out injured, but the Ravens feeling the pain makes it easier. They were talking like he could be a 1000 yard guy in their offense, and they don't have much to turn to now.

Edit: and yet lose Kenneth Dixon, a huge binkie on this board. They could be in trouble.

And now Kenneth Dixon (Ravens' 4th round rookie RB) just broke his leg. Pretty miserable preseason game for them.

Least the replay I saw looked like a broken leg. Foot blanted, got hit, foot stayed in place.

Well we must look at the bright side. At least he made a crap load of money! :)

I wish him luck with the rest of his life.

Always seemed like a class act. Sorry to hear this news.

Ben's a great dude so this is quite heartbreaking to read. Follow him on social media if you don't already, bit preachy but hes a great guy and is quite the philosopher off the field.

He's incredibly well educated on the race issues in this country. I don't agree with everything he says but the African American community and BLM would be well served by having his voice be theirs and not the Al Sharpton race hustlers and the other dividists who preach violence.

I never root for injuries in a sport where they happen too often. Of course the Pats don't have to worry about their own 1st round pick getting injured, in large measure because the efforts of this team to gain a competitive advantage over the Pats prevented the Pats from even having a 1st round pick, so if an injury HAS to happen, at least it happened to a team who richly deserves the suffering.

I'd rather hear from him anyway even if I may disagree with his views since he's younger and can relate to the real problems of today instead of these old fuddy duddies.

As for the Ravens it seems like they lead the league in ACL tears...Watson tonight, Steve Smith Sr., "T-Scizzle" twice...to that I say, oh well.

BTW...Harbawl seems to be vying to get a seat with the NYJFL* office. He's got his head up their ass so tight he could move in.

Colonic Sackorpick could learn well from Mr. Watson.

too bad to hear about watson. even though he never lived up to expectations (edit: as a patriot), i never got down on him because i knew it wasn't because of a lack of effort--and that rundown of champ bailey was the reason why.

i had to upload a better view of the play for everyone to see:

Bad news to see this happen to an old friend. Maybe it's just me, but it seems that this preseason has been especially hard from an injury standpoint.
