Seriously. He's always carried 250 they say, but he looks positively skinny now. No love handles like he's always had. From the Chicago game, it looks like he can avoid the sluggishness, at least for this season.

After all, a skinny Blount would still pack 235-240 [Antowain smith size]. What do you think?

Dont know but he looked fast to me last week.

I think he has lost weight. How much not sure.

There were a couple of runs he had on Thurs that of he had the extra weight I'm not quite sure he would have gotten past the LoS.

Against bad run defenses he is good. Against good run defenses he is not.

The key to his success here is the line needs to hold their blocks and he under no circumstances should go outside the tackles when he is behind the LoS (which is the case for all RBs really)

I hope the Patriots add the "Draw" to their Playbook in 2016 especially designed for James White. He needs to gash em some to make them respect his run...the world knows that White is excellent in the receiving department.

He looked fast last week. But then again, he looked Maroney-esque in the first game.

Will the real Blount please stand up?

hopefully he realized his only chance at staying in the league next year is with the patriots, and the only way to do that is to get in top shape and make it through an entire season.

Hard to tell, but he does look a little quicker than he did last year. Since he doesn't really use his size all that effectively as a short yardage back anyway, I'm all in favor of him dropping a bit of weight. 235-240 is still plenty to make him damn hard to bring down at full speed--which is the one significant edge that he's taken advantage of with his size--and at that weight he should hit that stride a bit faster. Plus, coming off a hip injury and all, dropping a few pounds can't hurt.

That was the best Blount has looked in a long time. He was decisive, quick, and punishing. Could this out-of-character performance have also had something to do with the 2nd stringers he was playing against on defense or an improved offensive line thanks to Dante?

Certainly, it's only one performance, but the quickness we witnessed wouldn't be because of the line or defense, it's quickness. Besides that, I kept looking and he looks slim in the waist.

The big question, as has been noted, is whether this translates to burst at the line of scrimmage. Only time will tell there.

Have you ever watched Blount play?

I was thinking about the last time I saw him look that good, and I think the answer is "almost every time we play the Colts". Kinda funny that it takes some other team's preseason second string to make him look as dominant as the Colts' playoff first team does.

Yeah - he tends to have a few solid games per year where he really flashes and then he levels off with a lot of lackluster performances. His ups and downs seem to average out over the course of a season and make his stats look respectable (4.3 yards per carry average in 2015). He had an outstanding game against the Redskins last year in addition to that Colts game.

My thoughts exactly vs colts. I did see a change in his weight, now need him to run like that on a regular basis gain respect for our run game plus Dante coming back heading our O-Line can only enhance it.

Whether he lost 10 or 20 lbs wont matter much if the line cant give him space to work with.

This reminds me of DeAngelo Williams. The Panthers clearly thought he was done, but he lost weight and was a really good back last season. Whether that works out the same way for LGB we'll have to wait and see until he's up against defenders who tackle.
