I think Pascoe makes this team as the blocking TE who can catch in a pinch. Classic under-the-radar vet signing by BB. Always loved Pascoe coming out of Fresno St and he's been a yeoman pro for the last few seasons. Just seems like a classic Pat signing who seems like an afterthought in July but ends up playing real minutes come November.

He's got the opportunity with Harbor on PUP. I know Derby is a popular binky but guy hasn't done anything yet. Give me the 7-year pro any day. I'd love them to keep four: Gronk, Bennett, Harbor, Pascoe.

I think keeping both Harbor and Pascoe would be a waste of roster space, but one is fine with me. Derby has done nothing and I didn't even particularly like him as a 6th round pick. I agree that Pascoe could end up playing meaningful snaps late in the season. He could just as easily be cut tomorrow. And even if that happens, he could just as easily be signed late in the season when the roster is depleted, like Dekoda Watson.

I hope you're right. But, if your definition of "a yeoman for the past few seasons" is 35 games, 14 receptions, 84 yards, 1 TD, 3 seasons, 3 teams, ... I think he's a camp body.

Cracks me up when on the 2nd day of camp people are saying "has done anything yet". :D

Derby was injured last year and would have made the team otherwise. He was having that good of a camp. Harbor is on the PUP currently and we don't know when he'll be activated. That being said, Derby supposedly has already shown his ability to catch the ball. I'm not predicting anything for him, but he could easily be a very adequate 3rd TE capable of catching and blocking.

I think you are right about the last sentence. That being said, I always liked him. IF they keep 4, Gronk, Bennett, Harbor and Pascoe would be a nice group. But I really think he was signed because Harbor and Derby aren't ready. Would love to see Derby make it as the #4 guy, pretty athletic for his size.

Pretty sure that it was a one-year deal that qualifies for the Minimum Salary Benefit deal making his 2016 cap hit $600,000.

I'm saying that as Derby is one of these classic Board Binkies who flashed once or twice in a practice and for some reason gets a little cult following irrespective of him ever actually doing anything meaningful. I think that potential is overvalued in compared to a guy who has been an NFL pro for 7 years. Derby's upside is a slightly better Pascoe but his downside is he never plays in the NFL.

Not that it matters (yet) but Bear Pascoe is slower than my dead grandmother (bless her soul) running backwards uphill with her broken hip.

Doesn't he have one of our super bowl rings?

Oh please! We all know Geneo Grissom is going to be the 3rd tight end! o_O

With the log jam at RB, I wouldn't mind seeing Develin at TE/FB and save a spot for another RB....

Blount,Bolden,Lewis,White, Brown and Foster...Carry 5 RB's and stick Foster on PS ( or cut one of Brown/White)..

Just a thought :)

Let's let lewis get activated from the PUP before we talk about having to cut someone..

I don't see foster sticking to the PS given his pretty awesome quickness/"potential". I think he sticks on the roster.

The signing caught my eye, as I follow the bulldogs and he was a great receiver in college. But, you're right, he's just way too slow to get separation at the NFL level.

It might come down to Bear Pascoe vs. James Develin for that spot.. who would you choose??

If Develin has completely recovered would probably choose him based on his performance here..

Just love the name for a football player (but hey! Julian Edelman is fine too).
